Chapter 29 Where is the "Zuoshouxiang" that treats fever? (27)

In the summer of the year when I first became a monk, a boil suddenly developed on the inside of my left hand. After a layman knew about it, he sent out the "Zuoshouxiang" overnight.Unexpectedly, the herbal plant "Zuoshouxiang", which is full of strong fragrance and extremely cool, miraculously cured my boils. Only then did I know that Zuoshouxiang has anti-inflammatory effects. In the autumn of the previous year, I had a large swelling on my forehead, which could not go away for several days. Thinking of the effect of left-hand incense, I asked the old Bodhisattva, who is rich in medicinal herbs, where is left-hand incense? After hearing this, the old Bodhisattva led me around the temple, but there was no left-hand incense!

The old Bodhisattva murmured: "There were several plants planted in the vegetable garden before!" I said, "Let's go outside and have a look!" Finally, I saw a few plants planted in the garden of the neighbors nearby, so I asked them for some. The left hand incense is still fragrant and cool, and the burning pain has been relieved a lot after applying it. I think that the reason why the burning of the wound can be relieved is because I understand the function of the herb Zuo Shou Xiang and apply it on the wound; if I want to treat the heat, where can I find the antipyretic "Zuo Shou Xiang"? ?

I remember a story in the "Zengyi Agama Sutra". A monk was unwilling to speak for the cruel King Uttan, and the Buddha told him: "Dirty and worn clothes must be washed before they can be clean. Burning desires must not be clean. The thoughts of anger and hatred should be eliminated with compassion; the darkness of ignorance can only be eliminated with twelve causal conditions. You should speak to the king of Uttan to make him happy, just like a great fire, which still has time to be extinguished Then, the Buddha taught this bhikkhu that he should treat all living beings with the four hearts of "kindness, compassion, joy, and protection".

How merciful the Buddha is to all living beings of any capacity, he taught him with wisdom which method to use to deal with afflictions. For the bhikkhu who refused to teach the Dharma because of the cruelty of King Youtan, didn't the Buddha also show him the four immeasurable hearts of "compassion, compassion, joy, and protection"? Many methods in Buddhism are all for resolving the afflictions of sentient beings; the afflictions of sentient beings are boundless, and the methods for resolving them are even more infinite. As long as it can lead to the cessation of afflictions and the development of the bodhisattva mind, every method is worth learning.

Compared with rosemary and lavender, which are full of western-style vanilla plants, the left hand incense produced in Malaysia and India has more Chinese flavor. It can also be found in Chinese herbal medicine shops or in your own vegetable garden. The cool feeling of the plump and juicy leaves on the body gives people a kind of ordinary intimacy and peace of mind, just like a practice method that you can use in your daily life and benefit from it.For a plant like this, I think I should plant one on the windowsill!
