Chapter 9 My "I see" can be clearly seen on Shulan (07)

It may be that my memory of Qilixiang is too deep!In the schools I have been to since I was a child, there are rows of Qilixiang on the campus. When I was young, I walked through the fence of Qilixiang, always worrying about writing new words... and Xi Murong's "Qilixiang" is often chanted by my friends and me. Therefore, when I saw the "green trees and white flowers in front of the fence" outside the library in the temple for the first time, although there were no white flowers, there were only green trees surrounding the fence, I wholeheartedly believed that it was Qilixiang.

I have been waiting for Qilixiang to bloom, but I have never seen the familiar little white flowers.Until that day, the lay monk who came to Kaohsiung went to visit the valley opposite Xiangguang Temple. As soon as she approached the small wooden house, she pointed to the hedge in front of the house and said, "This tree orchid blooms so beautifully!" "Shulan? Isn't this Qilixiang?" I reacted intuitively. "This is obviously Shulan!" She said with certainty. "Isn't this Qilixiang like Xiangguang Temple?" At this point, I was a little surprised.

"Master, Xiangguang Temple and here are all tree orchids!" She nodded again. After verification, they were all tree orchids. It's all my fault that I always feel that it has so many buds, but none of them bloom. It turns out that it is not the buds of Qilixiang at all, but the flowers of Shulan.I am not disappointed that Qilixiang never existed, but I was taken aback by my wishful thinking! People's "I see" is so deeply ingrained! The Buddha taught us not only to let go of "desire to fight", but also to let go of "view and dispute", because these two are important reasons for the unrest in the world.

Desire to dispute refers to struggles due to desire and love, such as international, racial, business, and interpersonal struggles; opinion disputes refer to disputes over opinions, because of "self-view", thinking that only oneself is right, and denying it Everything about others, especially when opinions and interests are combined, conflicts are not uncommon! And people's troubles often come from this wrong view. Letting go of what I see doesn't mean you don't have your own opinions.Follow what others say, but leave more space for yourself and others. After all, there are so many things we don't know or can't or don't understand!

The causes and conditions of facts are intricate and impermanent. When we hold on to a certain point, the cause and condition may have changed, and all the conditions of cause and condition have been recombined, so which point should we rely on to persist?Even if it is an unbreakable truth, when we look at it from a limited and narrow perspective, can we really understand the profound meaning behind it?Maybe it's just parroting or shouting slogans. Shulan, it has always been Shulan, but I don't know it.It didn't pretend to be Qilixiang! (This picture is provided by Wu Xiaodan)
