Chapter 3 Because of love and parting, the baby's tears flow into the sea (01)

In my garden, the most luxuriant ones should be the "baby's tears" in the two hanging pots in front of the window. The clear tears of small round leaves dripped like broken pearls... The Buddha said: "The tears we shed when we were separated from the one we love in the past are more than the waters of the four seas!" When I was young, I never encountered the storms of life. At that time, I only felt that the Buddha was exaggerating. Have so many tears to shed? It was not until I went through the process of becoming a monk, saw the tears and calls of my parents who were so reluctant to part with me, faced my real struggle in life after becoming a monk, and the helplessness of many lay people’s families and work... As I grew older, I realized that human factors The tears shed from the attachment and reluctance in the heart are really more than the waters of the four seas. Those who have not experienced it can't imagine, let alone actually measure.

There are indeed many unavoidable things in life.Among them, the pain of "separation from love" of "separation from the one you love" is enough to make people burst into tears. "Parting" is just a moment, what really troubles us is "love", the "love" in our memory follows us to the ends of the earth, resting heavily in our hearts, there is nothing we can do to get rid of it.However, once the imagination in my mind became reality, I realized that it was not the same thing at all.Although the mind seems to be stuck in the past, the cause and condition of impermanence completely changes people unconsciously. When a real gap arises, it is no longer a question of "love or not".

Is the fact too cruel?Or have we never seen the truth? What is the state of mind of a person who has truly cracked the "love parting"?In the early years of the Republic of China, Master Hongyi, an eminent monk, wrote down the four characters "sorrow and joy mixed" before his death.A person whose first half of his life was full of flowers and splendor, but in the second half of his life was full of prosperity and returned to simplicity, a gifted scholar and an ascetic monk, the feeling before he passed away was "mixed with joy and sorrow". Is this the footnote of his life?

Compared with another poet monk Su Manshu's "Qi Kuo, death and life, don't ask, a lonely monk who flows through the clouds and flowing water, laughs and cries for no reason, even if there is joy, it is like ice." I like Master Hongyi's "Sadness" Enjoy the intersection", appreciate this feeling of light clouds and clear wind. Just as the master said in his letter to his friend Xia Zun: "The friendship between gentlemen is as light as water; if you look for an image, you are thousands of miles away. Ask Yu Heshi, and Guer forgets the words; the flowers are full of spring, the heart of the sky is full and the moon is full." Walk through In the turbulent world, the heat and annoyance melt away, leaving only an equal and peaceful equanimity, saying goodbye to the attachment to "self" and "what I own", like the bright moon in the sky, how clear it is!

If there are tears at this time, they are no longer tears of "love and parting", but tears of "sorrow and joy"! (This picture is provided by Wu Xiaodan)
