Chapter 60 the present time

light life 林清玄 386Words 2018-03-18
There is a very devout teacher who believes in Buddhism, and he often inculcates the knowledge of Buddhism in elementary school students in class. One day, he spent half an hour telling the students about the horrors of hell, and then he asked the students, "Anyone who wants to go to hell, raise your hand." Sure enough, no one raised their hands, and the teacher felt very relieved. Then he spent another half an hour telling the students about the beauty of the Land of Ultimate Bliss. He asked the students, "Who wants to go to the Land of Ultimate Bliss? Raise your hand!"

Most of the children raised their hands, only one child in the corner did not raise his hand, with a serious expression on his face. The teacher woke him up and asked, "Why don't you want to go to Hell or Paradise?" The child said, "My mother said that you are not allowed to go anywhere after school, you have to go straight home!" This is a joke, and it’s not entirely a joke. Almost all religions emphasize the importance of the afterlife and tell us how terrible the sins of the past are. Therefore, many religious believers live in the atonement of the past and the sustenance of the future. Ignore the present moment.

In fact, the time in front of you is the most real. To go to hell or heaven, you should start from the time in front of you. Rejoice in the present time, where there is light and love, is heaven. In the present moment of pain, darkness and depravity, that moment is hell!
