Chapter 27 bull wheel

light life 林清玄 390Words 2018-03-18
I went to a tea house to drink tea, and saw many old-age things such as bamboo hats, coir raincoats, ox wheels, and pottery urns hanging on the walls of the tea house. These things make me have a warm feeling, thinking that they are the souvenirs left to us by my father and grandfather in those two generations, and they are also the evidence of our ancestors' simple and natural life. But I immediately felt a kind of sadness, thinking about what souvenirs we will leave to the next generation in the future?Plastic bags, Styrofoam, plastic bottles, electronic boards or floppy disks? What is the evidence we want to leave to the next generation?Polluted air, depraved forests, or dead seas?

The ox wheels, bamboo hats, coir raincoats, and pottery urns hanging on the wall of the tea house are all taken from nature by our ancestors, and returned to nature after use, without any damage or pollution. How many of the things made by our current people can be returned to nature without destroying the land and ocean? If the people who make and use these things can truly love the next generation, they should make better things to commemorate their children and grandchildren! Looking at the ox wheels in the tea house, I feel a little puzzled: Is our era progressing or regressing? Is it leading us into a better life or just rolling blindly through chaos?
