Chapter 25 mean person

light life 林清玄 677Words 2018-03-18
Once upon a time there was a very stingy person, he was stingy from every hair on his head to every toe on his feet, he never thought of giving anything to others, even people asked him to say the word "giving" , He couldn't even say it, he could only "cloth, cloth, cloth..." for a long time, as if he would lose something if he said these two words. After the Buddha knew this, he wanted to teach him, so he went to the town where he lived to give a lecture. The Buddha told everyone about the merits of giving: the reason why a person is rich in this life is that he is taller and handsome than others, and all good things are related to the giving in his previous life.

The stingy man was very moved after hearing the Buddha's teaching, but he still couldn't give alms. He was deeply troubled by this, so he ran to the Buddha and said to the Buddha: "World Honored One! I really want to give alms, but I can't do it. The Buddha grabbed a handful of grass from the ground, put the grass in his right hand, and then asked him to open his left hand. The Buddha said: "You think of your right hand as yourself and your left hand as someone else, and then take this grass Give it to someone else.” When this stingy person thought of giving this grass to others, he was stunned, sweating profusely, but still reluctant to give it away. Finally, he suddenly realized: “It turns out that the left hand is also my own. hand." He hurriedly gave the grass out, and he was very pleased with it.The second time it took him only about a minute to get the grass out.Later, he could simply give the grass away. The Buddha said again: "Now you put the grass in your left hand, open your right hand, and give the grass to others." He also thought for a long time before giving it the first time, but he handed it over easily the second time. Finally, Buddha said to him: "You give this grass to others now." He gave this grass to others.

After continuous practice, the rich man donated property to others, and finally donated his body to others, and finally attained Bodhi. This story moved me very much. I realized that the pursuit of Bodhi is not limited by qualifications. No matter how stingy or bad a person is, as long as he sets his mind to pursue Bodhi, he can open his Bodhi mind through training. There is only one simplest way to train and open Bodhicitta, which is to always let yourself go to a beautiful, bright, and good place.
