I have read several Buddhist scriptures, and I am often amazed by the profound meaning in them. Unfortunately, these Buddhist scriptures always talk about the principles of the world, thinking that everything in the world is empty, and it is difficult to apply it to real life. For a person who wants to People who like Buddhism and Taoism in this world will inevitably bring some confusion. There is a passage in Zen Master Huang Sang's teaching: "If the mind is equal, regardless of superiority or inferiority, that is to ask the Buddha with all living beings. The mountains and rivers of the world have appearances but no appearances, and they are partial to the ten directions. , always self-consummate, and the light shines partially."

Putting one's "heart" on an equal footing with all sentient beings can unravel some mysteries a bit. A person's heart is small in the eyes of Buddhism, but sometimes it is big enough to be comparable to all Buddhas.On the hillside of Lion Head Mountain in Hsinchu, there is a huge stone wall, on which are written the words "Heart is Buddha" in Cangrun regular script.Similarly, in the Daxiong Hall of Xiyuan Temple in Jiangsu, there are also four big characters "Buddha is the heart"; whether it is the heart or the Buddha in front, it always raises the human heart to a very high level.

In fact, these four characters are extremely knowledgeable. They have sixteen permutations and combinations, and the meaning of each combination is almost the same. There are four combinations starting with the character Xin: "Heart is the Buddha, the heart is the Buddha, and the heart is the Buddha." That is, the heart is the Buddha", there are four combinations starting with the word "Buddha": "Buddha is the heart, the Buddha is the heart, the Buddha's heart is, the Buddha is the heart", almost completely affirming the role of the heart. It is no longer so profound here, but all the Dharma is produced from the transformation of thoughts; after understanding this truth, you can no longer search for the scriptures from the perspective of "emptiness", and sometimes you can turn freely in the Buddha with an ordinary mind up.

My favorite talk about Buddhism is a passage in the "Vimalakirti Sutra". Manjusri Bodhisattva said: "What is the seed of Tathagata?" (What is the seed of Tathagata?") 1. Love is the seed, greed, ailment, and ignorance are the seeds, four inversions are the seeds, five hindrances are the seeds, six human beings are the seeds, seven consciousnesses are the seeds, eight evil methods are the seeds, nine afflictions are the seeds, and ten unwholesome ways are the seeds. To put it bluntly, the sixty-two views and all afflictions are the seeds of the Buddha.” Manjusri further explained: “So you should know that all afflictions are seeds of the Tathagata. If you enter the sea of ​​afflictions, you will not be able to obtain all the treasures of wisdom." "For example, on the plateau land, there are no lotus flowers, but the humble and damp mud, but this flower."

Here, Manjusri affirms the meaning of troubles in the world, because there is a passionate body, ignorance, love, and troubles can give birth to Buddhism and the seeds of Tathagata, that is, "if there is bondage, there will be Solution, if there is no bondage, who else will seek the solution?" The theory of feeling, thought, action, and knowledge in the Buddhist scriptures has been taken a big step forward to the world, and small people can suddenly become huge and flexible. In my mind, the thoughts of Buddhism should be the crutches of the lame, the pure words of the stubborn, the strength of the weak, the courage of the cowards, the wisdom of the fools, the joy of the sad, and the mirror of all life behaviors.It is a pity that after a long period of evolution, most of the "highly educated monks" who talk about Buddhism ignore the real experience of life, and talk about reincarnation and walking clouds.Talking about the blue sky and flowing water cannot make ordinary people get real happiness in it.

My experience of traveling and visiting in the past has given me the opportunity to stay in temples and talk about world affairs with many monks who are good at the starry night. The monks I met were not born to be monks. Encountered insurmountable grief, troubles, setbacks, pains, etc. during the itinerary, he became a monk in anger and practiced Buddhism hard. However, when he entered the "Buddhism", he never dared to touch the experience of the world, and used these experiences It is indeed a pity that future generations will testify to the law. The most memorable time was when I lived in Fo Guang Shan and talked with a middle-aged monk.He was originally a graduate of a famous university. Because of the frustration of love, he suddenly felt that life was at a loss and he was suitable for Buddhism. When he mentioned his past life experience, he couldn't help his eyes wet. Without the individual, there is no fulfillment of sentient beings; without emotion, there is no fulfillment of life, and apart from life, there is no fulfillment of emotion.” Perhaps, he was a monk with “six roots of impurity” in the hatching theory, but in his tearful eyes I truly Inspired by seeing a great world view, he has a seed of compassion in his heart, because only those who are not afraid of emotions can reflect the truth of not being afraid.

The mind is sometimes very big, so big that it can be equal to all Buddhas. We should have the courage to enter our own life experience and affirm the feeling of the heart. Ignorance is like this, love is like this, and all afflictions should be viewed like this. — June 2, 1982
