After a long time, everyone called him "Da'an Zen Master", But no one knew his name. Zen master Da'an begged for food not for himself, but for stray wild dogs. He often picked up stray animals back to the mountains and begged for alms to feed them. Once, Zen master Da'an picked up a little stray dog on the street, which was already dying. He said to Yuan Xiao, "This little dog is starving to death. I have to hurry to get some milk for it to drink. Please help me see it." on."

Zen Master Da'an took his bowl and ran out in a hurry. Unexpectedly, not long after Daan went out, the puppy swallowed his last breath and died. Yuan Xiao was very sad, but he didn't get over the puppy, he didn't know what to do, he thought: just do it like a human! So, Yuan Xiao ran out and came back with some leaves, covering the puppy's body, sat beside him, and began to seriously chant sutras for the puppy. Da'an went to beg for alms and came back. Seeing Yuan Xiao reciting the Taijing for the puppy so seriously, he asked him, "You recite such a deep scripture to a puppy, how can it understand?"

Then, Zen Master Da'an put the milk obtained from the begging beside the puppy, uncovered the leaves on its body, and said to the puppy, "Eat well! I hope that in the next life, I will go to a good place and have good things to eat every day!" Yuan Xiao looked at it and was very moved. It turns out that this is the sutra for the puppy! From then on, Master Yuan Xiao taught the law of prostitutes to prostitutes, and the law of beggars to beggars. He said: "If there is a sentient being who is compassionate, what he says will definitely shake the Dharma world, no matter what form he speaks in."

Master Yuan Xiao often said to people who are obsessed with liberation in the next life: "The problems in this life can't be solved, so why worry about the next life? The lights are not bright, and the surroundings are bound to be dark. Pursuing the practice of the next life and giving up the wisdom of this life is like looking for light without lighting a lamp. The place." He also opposed supernatural powers. He said: "The petals that want to fall can't wait for a day." Indeed, those who claim to have supernatural powers can't even do anything for a petal to fall, let alone stop the impermanence and pain of life?
