Chapter 4 Ⅱ-1

You Si Ji 泰戈尔 1269Words 2018-03-18
II 1 In the vast world, you are endlessly changing, gorgeous girl.Your incense path is covered with brilliance; your gentle touch, tremblingly urges the blossoming flowers; your long skirt flutters into the whirlwind of dancing stars; your wonderful music from the distant sky, Through countless symbols and colors, there are echoes of resonance. You are alone in the boundless solitude of the soul, still and lonely girl, you are a radiant spectacle, a solitary lotus blooming on the stem of love. 3 I remember that day. The torrential shower died away to a drizzle of intermittent drizzle; as soon as the tranquility came, it was followed by disturbing gusts of wind.

I picked up my instrument and plucked the strings casually, but before I knew it, the tempest and wild music sounded loudly from my piano. I saw her quietly put down what she was doing, stopped at my door, and then retreated with hesitant steps; She came again, stood leaning against the wall outside the door, then walked slowly into the room and sat down, her head bowed, silently threading the needle, but she stopped shortly after. She looked through the rain curtain and stared intently at the row of hazy tree shadows outside the window. There is only this one memory—a rainy noon, an hour of mists, songs, and silence.

4 As she stepped into the carriage, she turned and gave me a hasty parting glance. This is the last gift she gave me, but where should I treasure it so as to avoid the trampling of time? Must twilight drown out this gleam of pain, as it dissolves the last gleam of the setting sun? Must it be washed away by the rain, as the broken-hearted flower is deprived of its precious pollen? Leave to death the glory of kings and the treasures of the rich; but shall the glance of that passionate moment be washed fresh forever by the tears? "Leave it to me to treasure," my song says, "I never touch the glory of kings or the treasures of the rich, but these insignificant things are mine forever."

6 I was about to leave, and she remained silent. But in a slight shudder, I felt her eager arms as if to say, "Oh no, don't be in such a hurry." I often hear her pleading hand, the words in a light touch, even though they themselves do not know what to say. I have long been familiar with her tender arms whispering at this moment, if not, they would have turned into a wreath of youth, wrapping around my neck. Under the shadow of the quiet moment, these small gestures came back to memory, like a child playing truant, mischievously revealing to me the secret she kept from me.

7 My songs are like a swarm of bees; they fly in the sky, chasing after your fragrant footprints - chasing a trace of your memory; they buzz around your shyness, longing for the deep mellowness. When the freshness of dawn creeps into the morning light, when the air of noon is heavy and drooping, and when the woods are hushed all around, my songs set off home, their weary wings flecked with bright gold. 9 In the distant world of the afterlife, when we walk in the sun, if we meet unexpectedly, I think I will stop in infinite surprise. I shall see those dark eyes, then turned into morning stars; but I shall also feel that these eyes once belonged to the night sky of a past life neglected by memory.

I shall suddenly see that the charm of your countenance is not quite your own, that in an unremembered encounter it stole the passionate light from my eyes and then from my love Mysterious holy brilliance—where this holy brilliance comes from has been forgotten by you. 10 Please put down your lute, my love, and let your soft arms embrace me freely. Let your touch lead my overflowing heart to the edge of my body. Please don't bow your head, don't turn your face away, please give me a kiss, a fragrant kiss like a long-closed flower bud. Let not this moment be stifled with superfluous words; let our hearts quiver in silent undercurrents, and sweep all our thoughts into boundless joy.
