Chapter 8 success

my life experience 季羡林 987Words 2018-03-18
What is success?I took a "Modern Chinese Dictionary" by hand, and it wrote: "Success: Obtaining the expected result", which is concise and clear. However, when it comes to "anticipation", it is intricate and confusing.Everyone has expectations of different sizes every moment, every day, every day, and every month. Some succeed and some fail. In short, they cannot be defined or classified. Let's not talk about it. I am only talking about success here, especially the way of success. This is another huge topic, but I just do it in a small way. After seven or eighty years of experience, I got the following formula:

Talent + Diligence + Opportunity = Success "Talent", I originally wanted to use "genius"; but genius is a rare phenomenon, and many of them are "partial talents", so I discarded it and used "talent" instead, and everyone can understand it at a glance. This formula is an oversimplification, but the implication is clear. It's too cumbersome, but it's not easy to explain clearly. When it comes to talent, we must first admit that talent is different from person to person. This is a fact that no one can deny.During the ten years of catastrophe, people who pretended to be geniuses actually summoned a large number of geniuses. It is still unclear what kind of medicine is sold in the gourd.Today, it is not uncommon to see people who claim to be geniuses in the academic and literary circles. I dare not praise them except that they "feel too good about themselves".Regarding my talent, I think it is better to be objective and seek truth from facts.

As for diligence, it has always been praised by the ancients.Stories such as Nangying, Yingxue, Xuanliang, and Cigu have been passed down for thousands of years and are well-known to every household.Han Wengong's "burn ointment oil to inherit the sundial, and persevere to live in poverty" is even more yearned for by scholars.Talent is useless if you don't work hard. The matter is clear, there is no need to babble. When it comes to opportunities, they are often overlooked. It actually exists, and sometimes it has a huge impact.Take myself as an example, if Tsinghua University hadn’t sent me to study in Germany, my life would not be what it is now.

Let's analyze the three conditions for success. Talent is determined by "heaven", and there is nothing we can do about it.Opportunities come unexpectedly, and there is nothing we can do about them.Only one item of hard work is completely determined by ourselves, and we must work hard on this item. Here, too, there are many teachings from the ancients.Let's take Han Wengong first. He said: "Industry is good in diligence and playfulness, and success in thinking is ruined in casualness." These two sentences are familiar to everyone. Wang Jing'an said in the book: "Three kinds of realms must be passed through for those who have become a university student in ancient and modern times. 'Last night the westerly wind withered the green trees, and I went up to the tall building alone, looking at the end of the world'. This is also the first realm." The belt is getting wider. No regrets at all, it makes people haggard because of Yixiao'. This is also the second stage. 'People searched for him thousands of times, and suddenly looked back, but the man is there, in a place where the lights are dim'. This is also the third stage." Mr. Jing'an's first stage What is written is expected. The second realm is written about diligence. The third realm is about success. There is no mention of talent and opportunity.I dare not say that this is his omission, because the angle of writing is different. However, I think it is more comprehensive to add talents and opportunities.I hope that everyone can take out the spirit of "the belt is getting wider and you will not regret it" to engage in learning or career. This is the only way to success.
