Chapter 18 Anyway, don't fight for the 10% tax

Today a reporter asked me about writers' tax exemption, saying that this was proposed by Er Yuehe.Er Yuehe means that writers are too poor, belong to disadvantaged groups, and should be exempted from taxes.Later, I changed my mind and said that if writers are exempted from taxes and personal income tax is not levied on writers, it can stimulate the originality of writers, lower the price of books, and make more ordinary people afford books. I don't quite see what's worth discussing here. When Er Yuehe writes history, it is indeed easy for those who engage in history to make historical mistakes.First of all, the personal income tax for writers is more than 11%, which is already relatively low in various industries. I don’t think writers who could not survive would be able to survive if they returned the 11%.

Secondly, I don't think writers are a disadvantaged group. There must be good and bad ones in an industry. In every corner of the world in today's society, writers are mostly part-time jobs.If you want to rely on this for a lifetime, it is indeed a bit difficult in China, even I work part-time.Of course, it is unfortunate that racing makes less money, and the situation of the main job is even worse. But the entire writer industry is not that miserable, it is much worse than this. Furthermore, I don't think book prices can be lowered.First of all, the price of books in China is reasonable. In the case of severe inflation, the prices of books and magazines have not increased significantly in recent years.According to my understanding, half of the book price is earned by the bookstore, and the publisher, distributor, author and printing production cost will divide the remaining 50%.Everything including paper is increasing in price, and it is difficult for China's publishing industry to bear the reduction in book prices.Everyone always blames the high price of books and says that the publishing house is black, but in fact bookstores make the most money.China's publishing industry is already very poor. Look at those rich Chinese, none of them are publishing. This is abnormal in the world.Even if the tax is exempted for authors, the price of books will not drop a penny. It's like the dollar has depreciated so much, but American cars haven't lost a penny.

The most important thing is that I think the tax rate of about 11% is not enough to drive people to death, nor does it affect the quality of daily life and sex life. This is a reasonable tax rate.If writers are really exempted from taxes, it will lead to devastating negative reviews and discrimination in this industry, which has a bad reputation. What writers pay attention to is backbone. Of course, basically everyone doesn't have it now, but anyway, don't fight for the 10% tax.The more critical issue is that after collecting this tax, the money should be used to protect the interests of authors and combat piracy, instead of researching and blocking people all day long.
