Chapter 1 Why can't our hearts be pure

There is a story in the Buddhist scriptures, which roughly means this: an elephant with a docile personality was brought into the world of killing by people, and the elephant's personality became brutal after being influenced by what he saw and heard every day. At the beginning of human beings, we are as simple as a white sponge. We grow up day by day through insight into the world, from innocence to maturity, the white sponge changes color unconsciously. One day, we will find that the sponge is stained with many colors, red and black. Who can resist this color-changing process?Perhaps no one can resist. This is the price of living, the inescapable price.

Everyone is working hard, trying not to be overwhelmed by this turbidity. Someone builds a wall to surround a heart that was once undefended, but can it be truly pure after rejecting everything? But don't know: The wall riddled with holes can't stop anything. An impenetrable wall will only suffocate our hearts in it. Someone is struggling, trying to gain insight into the dark color in the turbidity, trying to get rid of its influence on us. But don't know: Like the elephant in the Buddhist scriptures, we are influenced day by day by the external things we want to get rid of.

The darkness in the eyes will grow in the depths of the soul. When the ashes cover the sky, we can only see this gray world. There are many things in this world that we are powerless to change, just like external objects affect us. There are a lot of troubles in the world, when darkness invades the soul, it brings us helplessness and pain. We wonder, where did that white sponge inside of us go? Jiechen wants to tell the benefactors that in fact it has always been there, hidden in a corner. Everyone is waiting for the person who can help them find the pure heart, but few people realize that they are the one who untie the bell.

When the rainstorm comes, you must know how to hide under the eaves. The scorching sun is shining in the sky, only the coolness is hidden under the shade of trees. Our eyes can see darkness, but we can also see purity. There can be noise in our ears, but we can also feel unvoiced. How a manic elephant becomes docile is actually very simple, let it return to a clean and pure environment. Don't think that everyone can blow away the dirt in their hearts. Hands covered with mud may not be cleaned by hard rubbing. It is better to soak in clean water to let the dirt dissolve a little bit, so that it can be really thorough.

The heart that is weary and struggling in the world, let it die for a weekend. Only our inner peace can overcome impetuousness and troubles.
