Chapter 2 preface

Yi Yin once said: "The taste is so subtle that the mouth can't express it." Using words to describe food and drink can only achieve the effect of "eating with the ears" and "eating with the eyes".Taste cannot be shared with others, and the experience will not be the same. The "taste" in Chinese is similar to the "taste" in English. It is difficult to make a very accurate interpretation in words, and I am afraid that you have to experience it entirely by yourself. Everyone knows the truth that "food is paramount to the people", but most people think it is a basic need for survival.Although everyone has a desire for food and drink, they are ashamed to talk about eating and drinking extravagantly. The ancients warned that "a gentleman stays away from the kitchen", which is called a "bourgeois way of life" in modern times. Therefore, apart from the cooking method as a skill and the nutrition as a medical science, it is not elegant to talk about eating and drinking. .

I am a glutton, so I call myself a "glutton".There are a few essays in my spare time, which are between notes and miscellaneous stories, and the writing is also mixed. The original intention was for self-entertainment. Later, with the encouragement of friends, I planned to publish a book called "Old Glutton Essays". The rest of my life is also late. Due to the special living environment, especially in the 1950s and 1960s, the life experience of my peers is different from that of my peers. I may have heard a little more in some aspects, leaving behind some sloppy claws. memory.Later, due to the relationship between family and work, I benefited from many seniors and old gentlemen, so I learned a lot. This is also the reason why the things recorded in "Lao Tao Essays" are in contrast to my age.

Due to the nature of essays and the limitation of food and drink, the content is unavoidably narrow, and with the passage of time, some omissions in memory are unavoidable. Some miscellaneous notes are personal opinions, and I hope readers will understand.
