Some articles describing the Battle of Huaihai believe that due to Huang Wei's command error, the 12th Corps was ruined alive.Huang Wei was dissatisfied. He talked about the past to a writer who interviewed him, and angrily pointed his finger at the writer, as if the writer had ruined his 12th Corps. "What can I do? Except for air contact, I can't get any information. The radio station was able to contact Nanjing, but then it didn't work. What can I do? Liao Yunzhou, the teacher under me, is a member of the Communist Party and uses the radio every day. Contacting the Communist Party, the director of my radio station is also a member of the Communist Party. I learned about this when I transferred materials during the 'Cultural Revolution'. You see, how do I fight this battle?"

Whether the director of the radio station is a member of the Communist Party has not yet been found. But Liao Yunzhou, Major General of the 110th Division of the 85th Army under him, is indeed a member of the Communist Party. On November 27, 1986, the Whampoa Alumni Association was held in Beijing. When Huang Wei from Whampoa Phase I and Liao Yunzhou, a student from Whampoa Phase VI, were sitting together, Huang Wei kept looking at the old alumnus secretly.Happy and sad, filled my heart, and my thoughts returned to every scene on the day of breaking out. This day was exactly 38 years ago on November 27th...

It was a coincidence. The headquarters of the 110th Division of the 85th Army is also stationed in Xiaomazhuang. The day before the breakout, on the afternoon of November 26, Huang Wei called Liao Yunzhou, the commander of the 110th Division, and said to him: "I want to take advantage of the enemy's unstable foothold and catch it by surprise. I plan to select four main divisions and advance together to break through quickly. " Liao Yunzhou thought for a while: "The commander made a wise decision. Our division requested to take the lead and be the pioneer. We can capture the enemy's fortifications and river positions, and of course it is easy to break through their temporary bunkers. I request to go back and prepare immediately."

Liao Yunzhou returned to the division headquarters and immediately held a division party committee meeting of the underground party of the Communist Party of China.Huang Wei never thought that this bold and heroic major general joined the Communist Party of China as early as 10 years ago.He has been dormant in the enemy's camp, organizing forces, waiting for the opportunity.Over the past year, Deng Xiaoping instructed him many times through underground liaison officers: to prepare actively, wait patiently, and deal a heavy blow to the enemy at the most critical time.He and his comrades have been gearing up for a long time, eager to return to the embrace of the party immediately. Now, that day has finally arrived!

After the meeting, Liao Yunzhou immediately sent a Communist Party member and adjutant Yang Zhenhai to contact the PLA positions. Liao Yunzhou felt that the four divisions were advancing side by side, and the 110th Division must be in the middle, with enemies on the left and right, which was extremely unfavorable for action. So, he took the initiative to find Huang Wei and said straight to the point: "Commander, I have an idea." "Okay! Let's talk." Liao Yunzhou's attitude just now made Huang Wei quite fond of him. "It is better to use three divisions than four divisions at the same time. The main division of the 18th Army is kept in the Corps as a reserve team, which can be used for front-line operations at any time, and it is routine to control the reserve team in case of emergency. Let our division Act first, and if the attack succeeds, other divisions can quickly follow up and expand the results."

Liao Yunzhou spoke eloquently, and Huang Wei listened with gusto. After Liao Yunzhou finished speaking, Huang Wei waved his fist: "Good classmate, I will give you whatever you want. Tanks and howitzers are whatever you want." Liao Yunzhou said: "I have sent several plainclothes to go deep behind the enemy's rear for reconnaissance. If there is a gap in the junction, we will use the night to act in advance." "Yes!" Huang Wei nodded again and again, and said, "Go forward when you have a chance, and make a decisive decision." After Liao Yunzhou returned, he immediately made a decision: the whole division should make preparations before dusk and start operations at midnight. The only thing that worries him now is Yang Zhenhai.

At the same time, Yang Zhenhai, who also served as the deputy company commander of the reconnaissance company, was used to operating in plain clothes, and he entered our PLA position smoothly. When he came to the Headquarters of the Sixth Column in Nakano and saw Wu Ying, an old acquaintance of the staff officer on duty, he couldn't help shouting: "Old man, it's you!" Commander Wang Jinshan and Political Commissar Du Yide arrived immediately upon hearing the news. Wang Jinshan was startled when he heard that Huang Wei was going to break out of the encirclement with four divisions at the same time, and blurted out: "Damn it." He turned to Wu Ying and said, "Hurry up, report to Chief Liu and Deng." I thought, if this information does not come, I will have to make a big mistake tomorrow morning.

"Don't worry." Wang Jinshan stood up, took two steps, turned his head and said to Du Yide, "The key is to draw the route of the 110th Division well, and secondly, to seal the opening." As a result of the research, sorghum poles were placed on both sides of the 110th Division's marching route as marks. The officers and soldiers of the 110th Division all wore white cloth strips or towels on their left arms. When the two armies are in contact, fire three rifle grenades as a contact signal, and it is best for the troops to pass through before dawn. After this decision was reported to the Nakano Command, it was immediately approved by Chief Liu Deng. Therefore, Wang Jinshan and Du Yide immediately ordered the staff to draw a roadmap for action and handed it to Yang Zhenhai. He also sent Wu Ying, a combat staff officer, to meet with Liao Yunzhou in order to cope with their uprising.

It was early morning of the 27th when Yang Zhenhai returned to the headquarters of the 110th Division with the map drawn by Wang Jinshan. There are still two hours to go.At that time, it was like the storyteller read: Waiting to know Chunfeng, Shiro was originally a man in the moon. But at this moment Liao Yunzhou felt a little lonely and unbearable, feeling that every minute and every second of this time lengthened the distance. He walked to Huang Wei's Corps Headquarters again, firstly to pass the time, and secondly to give Huang Wei another reassurance. He has figured out Huang Wei's temper: a nerd, not suspicious of others easily.

When Liao Yunzhou came, Huang Wei asked him to sit down and asked about the situation of the army's reconnaissance.Liao Yunzhou said: "I'm about to report to you. We found that there is a gap in the enemy's junction. It is most beneficial to act before dawn. I am here to ask for instructions." Huang Wei smiled happily, picked up the bottle of wine, and said chivalrously: "Old classmate, you have a heavy burden as a pioneer, come here, this bottle of brandy has been hidden for a long time, and I have never been willing to drink it. Now I respect you." You have a glass, I wish you success!" He turned to Wei Zhenfu, the deputy chief of staff, and said, "You are classmates in the sixth term, right? Come, for the glory of our Huangpu, you also toast!"

Liao Yunzhou raised his glass solemnly. After toasting them again, he gave a military salute and left.Huang Wei walked all the way to the door, holding Liao Yunzhou's hand tightly, asking him to cherish it. In the early morning of November 27, the fog was so thick that people could not be seen clearly 50 meters away.Liao Yunzhou rode a tall horse, guided by Wu Ying, a staff officer sent by Nakano, and led his troops to leave Xiaomazhuang and gallop southwest. Wang Jinshan was standing in the bunker at the front of the Sixth Column in the middle of the field. This general of the People's Liberation Army who fights with both the madness of his life and the steady vigor of not panicking in adversity, is so nervous that his calves are twisting. The critical moment has arrived. If the Huangwei Corps swarmed out along with Liao Yunzhou's uprising troops, they would have to do their best. Wang Jinshan ordered the troops on both sides of the exit to stand by.Some soldiers held their weapons tightly, ready to fire at any time, and some were busy repairing the sacks of the fortifications. As soon as Liao Yunzhou's troops were over, they would close the gap within a few minutes. There was a faint rumble of a large army marching in front of them. I couldn't tell who it was, but I felt that the sky was shaking. Then 3 rifle grenades rang out.Wang Jinshan yelled: "Quickly answer the signal!" The 110th Division came over, everyone with white towels tied on their left arms, forming four columns, walking inside the sorghum pole line.Behind them was smoke and dust, and the chirping sound of the flood shook the eardrums.Wang Jinshan watched all the 110 divisions pass, and gave an order: "Seal!" The officers and soldiers pushed heavily from both sides like huge iron gates, and the sound of killing suddenly resounded. Huang Wei's voice came from Liao Yunzhou's radio station: "Yangtze River, where are you?" Liao Yunzhou replied: "Wuchang, Wuchang, we have arrived at Zhaozhuang." Huang Wei's voice became irritable: "The troops following your division were ambushed by intensive firepower, causing heavy casualties." Liao Yunzhou smiled slightly, turned off the radio, and ordered the troops: "All radios are turned off." what happened?Huang Wei drank half a glass of brandy, puzzled. Under the cover of planes, artillery, and tanks, Huang Wei swooped towards my southern position as planned, but was knocked back hard.Only the 49th Division of the 18th Army broke out from the Yuzhuang Dayingji line to the southeast, and was chased by the 52nd and 54th regiments sent by my 18th Brigade in Luoji. The local troops were wiped out in the Taipingdi area.Huang Wei finally couldn't call Liao Yunzhou on the intercom. His plan of "four divisions going hand in hand to break out of the encirclement to the south" was completely shattered in this way. Then, he heard "General Liao Yunzhou's Salute to Chairman Mao and Commander-in-Chief Zhu" and "General Liao Yunzhou's Letter to the Officers and Soldiers of the Twelfth Corps for Uprising". In the Shuangduiji annihilation battle in the Huaihai Campaign, General Liao Yunzhou made great achievements. As of December 2, the General Front Committee judged that the casualties of the Huangwei Corps and the uprising of Liao Yunzhou's 110th Division had reduced its personnel by about 30,000. Therefore, it was determined to use the reserve team (Huanye Seventh Column, Thirteenth Column ) to attack.According to the enemy's defensive situation, organize the siege forces into 3 groups. With the fourth, ninth, and eleventh columns as the east group, attack the remnants of the 14th Army in Shenzhuang, Liweizi, Yangweizi and the four Yangzhuang, and the 75th and 114th Divisions of the 10th Army; With the first and second columns, plus the thirteenth column of Huaye as the west group, attack the enemy's 10th Army, 18th Division, 18th Army, and 85th Army at Maweizi and Beiyuhuangmiao; The column (and commanding the 12th Brigade in southern Shaanxi) and the seventh column of Huaye are the southern group, attacking the enemy in Shuangduiji and south.Emphasis is placed on the East Group.Because after capturing Shenzhuang, Yangweizi, Yangzhuang and other places, the enemy's defense system can be incomplete, the core position of the enemy's regiment headquarters can be completely exposed, and the enemy is located in a narrow and long area no more than 3 miles from east to west, which is convenient. I split. After the East Group has achieved remarkable results, we will focus on the south and attack Shuangduiji directly. On December 3, 1948, Liu Bocheng, Chen Yi, and Deng Xiaoping reported the general offensive plan to the Military Commission: "In the past three days, all our ministries have strengthened close operations and carried out partial attacks. Only the 341st regiment of the 114th Division of the Tenth Army was wiped out (one battalion was missing). Next, concentrate our efforts to destroy our attack preparations, and we repel each time, so the enemy suffered heavy casualties. Up to now, we have captured only about 5,000 enemies, but the enemy casualties are estimated to be no less than 20,000. In addition to Liao Division There were 5,500 people in the uprising, and the enemy has lost about 30,000. According to various evidences, most of the 49th Division of the 18th Army of the enemy has been wiped out by us after breaking through. The 118th Division, the main force, has been destroyed, and only the 11th Division is still complete. 10 Most of the two regiments of the 18th Division of the Army have been wiped out. Each regiment has been reduced to one battalion, and the other battalion is still intact. Its 114th Division has been wiped out by one regiment. The 75th Division suffered heavy casualties, and the 23rd Division of the 85th Army suffered 2 casualties. More than 1,000, the 216th Division is a new unit, and the two divisions of the 14th Army have been broken. In total, there are only 6 regiments that the enemy can break through. Therefore, we decided to immediately use Huaye's Seventh Column and Thirteenth Column (reserve team) to join For the offensive, the tactics still use the experience of Nianzhuang, that is, focused multi-faceted attacks. Because the enemy is tight and stubborn, it will take time to wipe out the enemy. We have suffered a lot of casualties recently, and our determination to wipe out the enemy is still very strong." At 16:00 on December 4, the Central Military Commission called and approved the general offensive plan. The competition in the Central Plains has reached a critical moment. At 11:05 on December 5, Liu Bocheng, Chen Yi, and Deng Xiaoping issued a general attack order to the Chen Gengxie Fuzhi Group, Chen Xilian Group, and Wang Jinshan Du Yide Group by phone: A. Starting at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow (6th), the general attack on the enemy will start across the board, and there should be no further delay for any reason. B. The Chen-Xie Group will destroy the enemies in Shenzhuang, Zhangweizi, and Zhangzhuang areas; the Xilian Group will destroy the enemies in the Sanguanmiao, Maweizi, Yuhuangmiao, and Xuzhuang areas; the Wang and Du Group will destroy the enemies south of Shuangduiji The enemies of Yuhuangmiao, Zhaozhuang and the former Zhouzhuang, Zhouzhuang, and Songzhuang to the west will control the above-mentioned areas separately, and then attack the double piles to wipe out the enemies. C. After the general offensive is launched, continuous attacks should be carried out until the above-mentioned tasks are achieved, and no suspension or request for postponement is allowed. D. All ministries should make the greatest sacrifices to ensure the completion of tasks, and must promptly and proactively assist friends and neighbors to win. E. The heads of each corps and column have the right to enforce strict discipline for those who falter before the battle and delay the opportunity to fight. This is a one-stop order issued by telephone. The Central Plains Field Army has no way out. From the arduous blocking battle to the launch of the general offensive at this moment, the Central Plains Field Army has suffered more than 20,000 casualties. However, in response to Chief Liu Deng's call for a decisive battle to "take down Huang Wei, go straight to Nanjing, and liberate the whole of China", everyone swore an oath and was mentally prepared to fall before dawn. At 4:30 p.m. on December 6th, tens of thousands of artillery bombarded and the earth shook, which opened the curtain for the final battle to wipe out the 12th Corps. The 7 columns of the Central Plains Field Army, plus the 2 columns of the Huaye Army, the Independent Brigade of Henan, Anhui and Su, and the 12th Brigade of Southern Shaanxi, 200,000 to 300,000 soldiers shouted the slogan "Down with Huang Wei, go straight to Nanjing, and liberate all of China". They rushed to several villages held by the enemy in all directions. After conquering Liweizi and Xiaoyangzhuang on December 6, Zhangweizi on the 7th, and Shenzhuang on the 8th, they encountered unprecedented challenges.Shenzhuang is located only about 3,500 meters northeast of Shuangduiji, the core position of the Huangwei Corps, and is its outpost. Before the attack on December 8, our four-column troops had already dug two earthworm-shaped battle trenches from the north to the south. , five earthworm-shaped attack ditches were dug forward, and each attack ditch was divided into two attack openings, east and west. On December 8, the four-column troops launched an attack on Shenzhuang. The 22nd Brigade and the 66th Regiment of the Four-Voltage Group served as the central commando. Regiment, wipe out the enemy in the eastern half of Shenzhuang. With the 10th Brigade and the 29th Regiment as the left-wing commando, the east and west were divided into two routes to implement a pincer assault. The north route went straight into Shenzhuang Village, and the south route (1 battalion) attacked the enemy's field group fortifications in the southeast corner of Shenzhuang, and joined the Central Commando , and cooperate to eliminate the enemy in the eastern half of Shenzhuang. The 30 regiments were divided into two groups to carry out a pincer assault in the southeast corner, all the way along the village to the west, and joined with the right-wing commando to destroy the enemy in the western half of Shenzhuang. All the way outside the village to the southwest to meet with the roundabout troops to complete the encirclement of Shenzhuang. And sent a company to guard against Yang Yuanzi, guarded by the 255th Regiment of the 85th Division of the 14th Army of the 14th Army in the southeast of Shenzhuangzi, to ensure the safety of my left rear. With the 38th Regiment of the 13th Brigade of the Four Verticals as the right-wing commando, it was divided into two routes to carry out a pincer assault in the northwest corner.Assault all the way to the west of the village, and gather the troops that assault from the east to destroy the enemy in the west of the village. One route detoured from the west of the village to the south of the village, and joined with the 10th Brigade and 30th Regiment (less than 1 company) detoured to the southeast of the village to complete the encirclement of the enemy in Shenzhuang. In addition, with 1/3 of the 22nd Brigade and 65th Regiment, from outside the village on the right side of the right-wing commando, go straight to the southwest of the village to block the enemy who may escape from Shenzhuang or be reinforced by other sources. Our East Group and the Fourth Column also organized powerful firepower to destroy the enemy's positions and cover the infantry's assault. In addition to the accompanying artillery that entered the trenches, the mountain artillery of the 22nd and 13th brigades formed the central firepower team and the right-wing firepower team, and the mountain artillery of the 10th and 12th brigades formed the left-wing firepower team. , Howitzers formed a mobile fire force team, and set up 6 artillery positions on the deep arcs in the east and north of Shenzhuang, and used crossfire to destroy a large number of bunkers built by the enemy in and around the village. In addition, the 11th Brigade of the Fourth Column used firepower to suppress the 255th Regiment of the 85th Division of the 14th Army of the 14th Army defending Yang Weizi, supported the battle in Shenzhuang, and quickly approached Yang Weizi to fight, preparing to attack and wipe out the enemy forces here.Other troops of the East Group were also ordered to suppress the enemy in neighboring villages with firepower and support Shenzhuang in the battle. At 15:30 on December 8, our East Group launched the battle of Shenzhuang. The powerful artillery fire attacked the enemy's positions in an orderly manner, destroying the enemy's forward fortifications and opening up the assault path for the infantry.Subsequently, the artillery fire extended in depth, suppressing and destroying the enemy's large and small bunkers. The No. 1 and No. 2 artillery positions in the east of our East Group are divided into enemy bunkers in the northeast and southeast of Shenzhuang, the No. 3 and No. 4 artillery positions in the northeast are divided into enemy bunkers in the northwest and southwest of Shenzhuang, and the No. The No. 5 Artillery Position, divided into the northeast and north central enemy bunkers, and the No. 6 Artillery Position in the Northwest, divided into the Southeast and Northwest enemy bunkers, carried out suppression and destruction shooting, forming a magnificent view of the cross-fire network, and turning the lifeless enemy positions Lit up. At 17:00 on December 8, three red flares rose in the air.Commandos from all walks of life jumped out of the fortifications at the same time and launched a violent attack on the enemy in front of them. After only a few minutes of fighting, they all broke into the enemy's position, and quickly penetrated, detoured, divided, and surrounded in depth. In battle, heroic warriors go all out.Guo Xiaoma, deputy commander of the 9th Company of the 22nd Brigade and 66th Regiment of our Central Commando, led his unit into the front of the enemy's position. The enemy resisted tenaciously and fired light and heavy machine guns and flamethrowers desperately. Guo Xiaoma was injured in his left arm. Sun Wenshan, the leader of the third squad, jumped into the enemy's traffic trench from his left side. A few grenades knocked the enemy into a ball and put down his weapons. From the launch of the assault at 17:00 to 19:00, the team directly under the 85th Division of Shenzhuang defending the enemy, the 253rd and 254th regiments were all wiped out by me.More than 1,200 people including Pan Qi, the enemy division commander who had just taken office, were captured. Feng Mu, who was in the assault force of the fourth column of the East Group at that time, vividly reported the scene of the destruction of the enemy's 14th Army defending Yangweizi under the fierce attack of the People's Liberation Army on December 11: Xiong Shouchun, the commander of the 14th Army, led his army headquarters and the remnants of the 10th Division and the 85th Division to defend Yangweizi for several days. Most of the thousands of livestock in the army were killed in the outer trenches. The soldiers lived on horse meat every day, and hundreds of wounded soldiers were lying in the fortifications and left unattended. But Xiong Shouchun was still stubborn and refused to accept the People's Liberation Army's persuasion to surrender. With the complex fortifications and the open land as flat as a mirror on all sides, he imagined that he could support it until the day when the reinforcements arrived. But there is no difficulty in front of the People's Liberation Army. We used the method of traffic ditches to transform the flat ground. The wide and deep traffic ditches stretched from the east, north, and west to the enemy's fortifications. The soldiers dug the traffic ditch under the bombardment of planes and enemy fire all night, approaching the enemy every minute.Digging while fighting.By noon on the 11th, an intricate network of traffic ditches had formed around Yang Weizi, enclosing the enemy in the middle and making them unable to move. The commando safely entered 30 meters in front of the enemy, quietly waiting for the order to attack. The muzzles of hundreds of guns were facing Yang Weizi, howitzers, field guns, and mortars, and the test firing began at 2:30.The enemy panicked and sent 1 battalion and 5 tanks from the 11th Division to raid the PLA's traffic ditch. Our People's Liberation Army immediately opened fire to stop it, and the shells hit the tanks row after row, and the enemy fled back immediately. At 4:30, the shooting began.Rows of shells fell like a gust of wind on the front and depth of the enemy. The dark fort flew into the sky, and the whole Yangweizi became a sea of smoke and fire.Just when the smoke was thick, a series of red signals flew into the sky, and the infantry attacked. The Luoyang Hero Company headed by deputy squad leader Yang Chuanren and the 3rd company headed by platoon leader Wang Tai inserted into the front of the enemy's fortifications side by side. Then the two commandos from the east and west also rushed into the village quickly. At this moment, a series of white signal flares rose again. There was no gap, and the artillery fire immediately turned to depth. The enemy retreated and most of the fortifications were occupied. The enemy swarmed and fled southwest. At this time, a wave of signal flares rose again, and the artillery fire extended to the southwest again, and most of the fleeing enemies were pushed back. Our 5 commandos crossed from 3 sides and converged at the southwest corner. The positions were all occupied, and it took only 10 minutes before and after, and now all that was left was to capture the prisoners. The power of the artillery fire and the bravery of the soldiers scared the enemy unconscious. Many enemies climbed out of the collapsed fortifications, dropped their guns and ran, and knelt down as soon as they encountered the People's Liberation Army. Some kept kowtowing and said, "Forgive me! We don't want to fight anymore." The soldiers captured a group of officers in the field positions. One of the tall men came out and said: "Report, I am the company commander here, and this is my deputy company commander." Many prisoners walked towards our rear without waiting to be collected. In the last bunker, seven or eight people shouted as soon as they came out: "Welcome the People's Liberation Army! Otherwise we would be trapped to death, you saved us." The enemy's 14th Army headquarters is in the northwest corner of the village, and Xiong Shouchun has been hiding in a deep hole since the start of the battle.Until the artillery test firing, he still counted on the 11th Division to make a rescue. When our People's Liberation Army began to discharge artillery, the first row of artillery hit his fortifications, and a corner of the fortifications collapsed. He jumped out all of a sudden and ran to the southwest like crazy. He wanted to run for his life, but it was too late, a bullet pierced his left rib, and he fell down without even screaming.Deputy Chief of Staff Zhan Bitao ran out of the cave and was also wounded by bullets. He yelled, "Help! Help!" The division chiefs and section chiefs of the military department were running around, but the PLA was already everywhere, trying to run away. They couldn't run away either, so they had to be captives one by one tamely. ... At 7 o'clock, the gunfire stopped completely, and the group of prisoners was brought out and walked through the communication trench line by line. The West Group used the third column to attack Maweizi.Maweizi is located about 3 kilometers north of Shuangduiji, on a relatively high terrain. It is composed of three small villages with dozens of households. According to the orientation, Maweizi is divided into east, middle and west.Among them, the enclosures of China and West Malaysia are closely connected, while the enclosures of East Malaysia are far apart. It is said that the enemies guarding Maweizi are one battalion of the 52nd and 53rd Regiment of the 18th Division of the Tenth Army, two battalions of the Ninth Regiment, a total of one regiment and three battalions.Among them, the 3rd Battalion of the 53rd Regiment is located in Dongmaweizi, the 2 battalions of the 9th Regiment are located in Zhongmaweizi, and the 52nd Regiment is all located in West Maweizi.Relying on the villages, the enemy built a large number of dark fortifications inside and outside the village, supplemented by skirmishes, deer villages, barbed wire, and shelters, and connected them with criss-cross traffic ditches to form a deep defensive position for mobile defense. The battle of our West Group to attack Maweizi began on December 6th. The battle ended on the 10th, only part of the enemy was wiped out, and no breakthrough was made. The West Group then decided to attack again on December 11.Before the attack was launched, the column commander Chen Xilian came to the assault force to mobilize for a general offensive. He said: "This time I will lose everything and do it to him!" All personnel in the entire column moved, and all artillery fire in the entire column was concentrated. The howitzers sent by "Huano" to support also entered the position. On the night of December 11th, our troops were gathering in a hurry in the trenches. The cannon was only 160 meters away from the enemy, and the brigade commander Zhao Lantian also called, "Move forward, aim a mountain cannon at a bunker."The enemy noticed the actions of the People's Liberation Army and immediately used artillery fire to interfere. All of a sudden, shells fell like hailstones from the front, rear, left, and right sides of the trench. The air-exploded shells released clusters of silver-white flames, which dazzled people's eyes. But the soldiers didn't care about these, and moved forward desperately. At 18:00, the general offensive began. In an instant, thousands of cannons roared, and the shells hit the enemy's position like raindrops. The enemy's position, which was still firing just now, became silent in a blink of an eye. Immediately, the infantry assault troops of our army stepped out of the trenches, rushed towards the enemy's position bravely, and quickly broke through the enemy's front. The enemy was dying and even used the housekeeping weapon chemical cannon. The three verticals and the three brigades cooperated closely and made a pincer assault. The enemy gradually became exhausted and defeated. The West Group finally achieved a complete victory over Maweizi. A column of the West Group was responsible for attacking the enemy in the North Pony Village (the South Pony Village was the headquarters of the Huangwei Corps), and fought an extremely arduous and heroic battle. Beixiaomazhuang is located 3 kilometers north of Shuangduiji. It is an important enemy stronghold and is defended by the 3rd Battalion of the 342nd Regiment of the 18th Division of the 10th Army.Based on villages and small villages, the enemy uses favorable terrain to form strong support points, and each support point is composed of several mother-child fort groups. The position of this stronghold and the positions of Gezhuang and Dawangzhuang screen each other, forming a corner. If I seize Xiaomazhuang, I can further seize Gezhuang and Dawangzhuang, and attack the core position of Shuangduiji. In order to ensure the success of the attack on Xiaomazhuang, Yang Yong and Su Zhenhua decided to equip the 20th brigade with 3 mountain guns, 10 launch tubes and 17 mortars from the 1st brigade to support operations. In terms of the use of troops, the 62nd Regiment of the 20th Brigade replaced the Xuzhuang position of the 59th Regiment, and was assigned to the 1st Brigade to be in charge of defending against the enemy in Pinggudui and ensuring the security of the flanks that attacked Xiaomazhuang. The 20th Brigade used the 59th Regiment as the attack team, approached from Luozhuang to Xiaomazhuang, and built a starting position for the charge; the 58th Regiment was the second echelon of the brigade. The 7th regiment is the general reserve team, which is mobile in Xiaozhuzhuang, Xiaozhuang, and Mawangzhuang. At dawn on the 6th, the enemy of Pinggudui attacked Xuzhuang with two companies when the 3rd Battalion of our 62nd Regiment took over the defense. The brigade commander Yang Junsheng commanded the 63rd regiment to defeat the enemy's attack. The enemy then bombarded Xuzhuang with heavy artillery fire, and dispatched 4 tanks to cover an infantry battalion to charge continuously towards the position of the 3rd Battalion of the 62nd Regiment in an attempt to break through. The 3rd Battalion fought tenaciously, ran out of bullets, and the troops suffered heavy casualties. There was only one platoon left in the 8th Company, and only 3 people, including the company commander and the instructor, remained in the 9th Company. At this critical moment, the commanders and fighters still fought the enemy with grenades and bayonets until dusk, inflicting a large number of casualties on the enemy, and persisted until the general offensive was launched. At 16:30 on the 6th, Yang Yong ordered the artillery cluster attached to the 20th Brigade to concentrate their firepower and suppress and shoot at the enemy's position in Xiaomazhuang. At 18:00, the three columns adjacent to the left attacked the Maweizi stronghold on the north side of Mazhuang. In order to coordinate the action, the 20th Brigade launched an attack 30 minutes in advance with the 3rd Assault Battalion of the 59th Regiment, running along the trench and approaching Xiaomazhuang.Due to the movement under the enemy's firepower network, the casualties were relatively large, and the attack failed. The brigade commander Wu Zhongsui decided to change to the evening of the next day and use the 1st Battalion of the 59th Regiment as a commando to carry out a second attack on Pony Village. The 1st Battalion of the regiment rushed to dig attack trenches overnight. By 8 pm on the 7th, the trenches extended to only 30 meters from the front of the enemy's outer trenches. At 8:30, the artillery group attached to the column began to shoot destructively at Xiaomazhuang. At the same time, a large amount of explosives were thrown from the launch tube, destroying most of the front bunkers of the enemy's position. Under the cover of artillery fire, the 1st Battalion of the 59th Regiment launched an assault on Xiaomazhuang. Liu Chuanping, the blaster of the 3rd Company of the battalion, successfully blasted for the first time. The 1st Company, the 2nd Echelon of the 1st Battalion quickly broke into the village and attacked the northeast corner of the village along the traffic trench. At the same time, the 3rd Battalion cooperated with the 1st Battalion to attack the enemy in the village from the southwest of the village, and captured the enemy's bunker group in the southwest corner. Then, the second echelon of the regiment joined the battle. Each battalion attacked in multiple ways, and after 3 hours of fierce fighting, the 3rd Battalion of the 342nd Regiment defending Xiaomazhuang was wiped out.At this time, because the 58th regiment failed to attack the enemy's engineer battalion in the independent house, and the third column on the left did not capture Maweizi, the assault troops occupying Xiaomazhuang were in an isolated and prominent position, and were in danger of being surrounded by the enemy.Under such circumstances, brigade commander Wu Zhong decisively ordered the troops to withdraw from the battle. The enemy occupied Xiaomazhuang again in the early morning of the 8th. On the 8th, Yang Yong decided to use the 7th regiment of the 1st brigade to attack Xiaomazhuang, and the 58th regiment of the 20th brigade to attack the independent house for the third time. After accepting the task of attacking Xiaomazhuang, taking advantage of the opportunity that the enemy had just occupied Xiaomazhuang that night, the 3rd Battalion and 8th Company were the commando team, led by the deputy head Yu Xiuqing, and under the cover of night, they attacked Xiaomazhuang in one fell swoop. Ma Zhuang. But because the 2nd echelon did not keep up in time, the enemy closed the breakthrough. The 8th company was blocked in the village and was besieged by several times the enemy. They fought bloody nights and suffered heavy casualties due to the disparity in strength. From the battle to the dawn of the next day, only 13 people withdrew, and the rest of the commanders and fighters all died heroically. Yang Yong, the commander of the column, was extremely annoyed after three attacks on Xiaomazhuang failed to achieve results. In order to make full preparations for the fourth attack on Xiaomazhuang, Yang Yong decided to prepare for three days and nights starting from the 9th, rushing to dig fortifications, so as to take Xiaomazhuang in one fell swoop. Yang Junsheng, the commander of the 20th brigade, went down to the troops to mobilize himself, and studied the specific deployment of the battle with the head of the 7th regiment. He decided to use the 1st battalion as the main attack, and discussed with Wu Zhong, the commander of the 1st brigade, and transferred the 1st brigade special agent company to be attached to the 1st brigade. Battalion combat. The 1st Battalion used the 3rd company as an assault company, and at the same time transferred the mortars of the 1st brigade to strengthen the firepower of the 7th regiment.Yang Junsheng also mobilized the masses and organized a firepower team to manufacture 30 heavy-duty launching tubes. The launch diameter was increased from 250 mm to 300-400 mm, and the amount of projectile explosives was increased from more than 20 kg to more than 40 kg.He also used gasoline barrels to make several large-caliber launching tubes, which can project more than 200 catties of explosives at a time. At the same time, our 7th Regiment and 58th Regiment conducted detailed reconnaissance of the relevant terrain, and reselected the assault point and the route to meet the enemy. In order to get as close as possible to the enemy's front fortifications, the assault troops spent three days and nights digging two snake-shaped attack trenches. On the night of the 11th, the three columns from the left neighbor captured Maweizi, creating favorable conditions for capturing Xiaomazhuang and defending the enemy. By the 12th, the first column of our West Group completed combat preparations. At 4:30 p.m., the general offensive began.Violent artillery fire carried out destructive shooting on enemy strongholds. After 45 minutes of firepower preparation, most of the enemy's independent fortifications and bunker facilities were destroyed. The 1st and 3rd battalions used the blasting units to quickly blast the outer trenches, barbed wire and other obstacles to open the way, and then the commandos launched simultaneous charges from the northwest corner and due west, and quickly opened the breakthrough to attack the enemy's position. The battle lasted until 6 p.m., and finally captured the An independent house, wiped out the engineering battalion of the 18th Division, and ensured the safety of the flanks of the 7th Regiment attacking Xiaomazhuang. At 11:30 that night, a column of concentrated artillery fire violently bombarded Xiaomazhuang. The 7th regiment used 30 launch tubes at the same time, and threw more than 4,000 catties of explosives within 10 minutes, destroying almost all the fortifications, bunkers, obstacles, etc. set up by the enemy in Xiaomazhuang. Most of them were killed and injured, stunned and deafened. At midnight, the 7th regiment launched an assault with the 1st battalion and 3rd company. The 6th squadron of the 2nd row of sharp knives, led by the squad leader and combat hero Li Qidao, opened a breakthrough from the northwest corner of Xiaomazhuang, broke into the village, quickly eliminated the remaining firepower points of the enemy bunker, and expanded Breakthrough, covering the main force of the 1st Battalion to join the battle. The enemy in Xiaomazhuang immediately dispatched a company to counterattack frantically. In order to seal the breakthrough, the enemy inhumanely used launchers to fire gas bombs, and released tear gas and sneezing mixtures.Because Squad 6 had precautionary preparations, the enemy's plot failed. When a platoon of the enemy rushed over, the 6th squad fired at once with short bursts of fire, annihilating them all.The enemy continued to counterattack, and the 6th squad ran out of bullets, and started a bayonet fight with them. The combat hero Li Qidao was the first to jump into the enemy group with a bayonet, and stabbed three enemies to death in a row. He was also seriously injured, but he still fought tenaciously. The deputy squad leader of Squad 6 chanted the slogan "Revenge for the squad leader", and continued to direct the whole squad to throw a row of grenades at the enemy, using the explosion effect to seize favorable terrain, and repelled the enemy twice in a row to counterattack, consolidating the breakthrough. The other two squads of the 2nd platoon arrived in time to replenish ammunition for the 6th squad. Then, with the 6th squadron as the lead, it continued to develop towards the center of the village, covering the main force of the 1st battalion to join the battle. When Squad 6 entered the small street, the enemy at the center of the street counterattacked westward and attacked Squad 6 with one platoon. Squad 6 attacked bravely under the cover of fire from Squad 5, and the battle was extremely fierce. Most of the 6th squad suffered casualties, and only one soldier, Guo Jinchang, remained. He was injured in four or five places, and his legs could no longer stand up. When the enemy was only a dozen meters away, he threw only three grenades, killing several enemies, and chased the fleeing enemy with firepower. At this time, the company commander of the 6th company led the reinforcements of the 1st and 3rd platoons, wiped out the counterattacking enemies in the middle of the street, and took advantage of the momentum to wipe out the enemy camp. The 58th regiment cooperated with the 7th regiment to attack from the independent house to the northeast corner of Xiaomazhuang. By 1:00 am on the 13th, they had completely wiped out the defending enemies in Xiaomazhuang and won the battle against Maweizi. South Group - Wang Jinshan, Du Yide Group. After Huang Wei was besieged in a narrow area centered on Shuangduiji, he immediately placed his two main regiments at the southeast corner of the Corps Headquarters. The 23rd Regiment of the 11th Division, the so-called "Tiger Regiment", is placed at the gate of the Corps Department - Dawangzhuang, Jiangudui; the 54th Regiment of the 18th Division, the so-called "Mighty Regiment", is placed on the left wing of the Corps Department - Jinzhuang to the south. The two regiments are only about two miles away from the Corps Headquarters, and they are the "Guards" that Huang Wei relies on for protection. On December 6, after repeated persuasion to surrender failed, our People's Liberation Army launched a general attack on the Huangwei Corps. That night, the Sixth Column of the South Group captured Lijialou and wiped out the 69th Regiment of the 23rd Division. Three days later, the "pockets" became tighter and tighter, and all the positions of the Huangwei Corps were depleted. The "Mighty Regiment" position protruding south of Jinzhuang has been completely exposed to the spearheads of the South Group. This is the only stronghold on the southeast corner of Huang Wei. In order to shorten the time of contacting the enemy as much as possible and reduce casualties, the attacking troops rushed to repair the traffic trenches. By December 11, the most prominent traffic trenches of the South Group were only more than 100 meters away from the enemy's forward positions. The group fortifications of the "Tiger Regiment" are already under the tip of the People's Liberation Army's bayonet. The large trucks around the Huangwei Corps headquarters in Xiaomazhuang, north of Shuangduiji, can be clearly seen. The "Xiangyang Battalion" who had made great achievements in the battle of capturing Xiangyang City was ordered to take over the assault mission. Before the general attack, the head of the regiment repeatedly explained: "This is a vicious tiger, you need to sharpen your knives!... You are a special battalion that broke through Xiangyang, and you are a representative team of the Central Plains Field Army." In the early morning of that day, Battalion Commander Tan Xiaolin took the company commanders to the front to look at the terrain.Looking out from the artillery observation mirror, the outer edge of the group's fortifications in front is a wall.Looking out from the high-lying Jiangudui, you can see the "meter"-shaped traffic ditch in the wall and some open-air heavy machine gun fortifications.Behind them are rows of artillery positions and tanks without camouflage. Some dark forts and mother-child forts can be vaguely seen. If you look closely, there are many small black dots scattered on the walls—they are the enemy's hidden firepower points. With such a dense fire net, Huang Wei once boasted: "Even a mouse or a sparrow can never pass through it." At 4:45 p.m. on the 14th, the phone rang suddenly, and the deputy commander of our army, Wang Xijun, said loudly in the headset: "The artillery fire will start immediately. Pay attention to observe the effect and grasp the situation!" He looked up. "who are you?"
