Chiang Kai-shek was triumphant, thinking that the "CCP" did not have much strength, so he provoked a full-scale civil war in the Central Plains.Four months later, the flames of war reignited in the Northeast.Han Xianchu tried his best to turn Xinkailing into the cemetery of "Thousand Li Horse"!Chen Yun and Xiao Jinguang went to Linjiang on snow, holding on tightly to the "ox tail" of the Kuomintang army.Lin Biao has no expression on his face. If you, Du Yuming, want to go from south to north, then I will fight from south to north! The Kuomintang army had to stop its expansion momentum and turn to passive defense. However, the Democratic Alliance Army changed from passive defense to active offense, and the situation in the Northeast has undergone major changes.

On June 22, 1946, Chiang Kai-shek launched an all-out civil war in the Central Plains. All of a sudden, the land in the pass was filled with smoke and flames of war. Chiang Kai-shek didn't realize that he had really underestimated the power of the Communist Party until the war resumed. The troops invested by the Kuomintang were like water poured on the sand, and they disappeared in a blink of an eye.The Northeast region has no time to worry about it, so the date of the armistice there has to be postponed again and again. This delay is more than 4 months. Time is gold.Lin Biao, who was severely injured in the Siping World War I, thought so.

Summer is coming, the waves in the Songhua River are rushing, and the flowers on Sun Island are in full bloom. In early July, members of the Central Committee, members of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and leaders from various regions in the Northeast gathered in Harbin to hold an enlarged meeting of the Northeast Bureau.Peng Zhen, Luo Ronghuan, Chen Yun, Gao Gang, Li Fuchun, Li Lisan, Zhang Wentian, Cai Chang, Lin Feng, Huang Kecheng, Wang Shoudao, Tan Zheng, Chen Yu, Xiao Jinguang, Lu Zhengcao, Gu Dacun, etc. all attended the meeting. On July 7, the General Assembly formally passed the "Situation and Tasks in the Northeast" drafted by Chen Yun, the famous "July 7 Resolution".Mao Zedong personally revised the resolution carefully.

The "Resolution" affirms that the current situation in Northeast China is characterized by a strong enemy and a weak enemy, and we must prepare for a long-term struggle. Therefore, in order to overcome all kinds of chaotic ideas, we should no longer place our hopes on peace, go out of the cities, take off our leather shoes, and go to the countryside to mobilize the people extensively and establish a solid base. The bright sun pierced through the clouds, and the north bank of the Songhua River was brilliant. The work in the Northeast has started vigorously.Wave after wave of the new-style whole-army movement, all units have unified their thinking and streamlined their members; cadres at all levels went deep into the peasants and vigorously carried out land reform. In order to eliminate the hidden forces of the Kuomintang, the main forces in various regions carried out a large-scale struggle against bandits. They crisscrossed forests and seas, broke through the snowfields, and successively brought down the "four flagpoles" hated by the people such as Xie Wendong, Li Huatang, Zhang Yuxin, and Sun Rongjiu. Other big and small bandits also followed. In the battle against bandits, He Jinnian, commander of the Hejiang Military Region, was honored as an expert in suppressing bandits; Yang Zirong, a scout of the Mudanjiang Military Region, was awarded the title of "Special Reconnaissance Hero".

The Northeast Democratic Coalition Army is famous far and wide, and the local people celebrate with each other.Lin Biao watched the team come back to life and became stronger and stronger. Although he was silent, he was secretly happy in his heart. "Lin Biao is booming in Jiangbei, and our latent personnel have been arrested!" Du Yuming was very annoyed in Shenyang. He thought that Lin Biao would be devastated after crossing the river, but he didn't expect it to be the opposite. Over the past few months, while recuperating and recovering, Du Yuming expanded the total number of Kuomintang troops to more than 400,000, and at the same time sent troops to the southwest, ordering the 13th Army and 93rd Army to attack Li Yunchang's department in the Jireliao Military Region. On August 29, 1946, Chengde, the capital of Rehe, was occupied, and Chifeng was captured on October 4.Knowing that Lin Biao's wings were growing in Jiangbei, he urgently ordered the New 1st Army and the New 6th Army to move to Siping and north of Changchun. At the same time, the 60th Army was transferred from Fushun to Jilin, and the 53rd Army was transferred from Rehe to Shenyang. Kishi widely recruited ships, repaired bridges, and prepared to go north in one fell swoop to attack Harbin.

"Send a message to the south to attack Du Yuming!" Lin Biao said quietly after receiving the information. At the beginning of October 1946, Cheng Shicai, the commander of the three verticals, Luo Shunchu, the political commissar, Zeng Kelin, the deputy commander, Tang Kai, the deputy political commissar, and Xie Fang, the chief of staff, sat around a small command post. Xifeng County. Xifeng is located in the southeast of Siping, east of Kaiyuan, west of Meihekou, on the main traffic road.At that time, there was an expanded regiment of the New Army stationed in the city, with about 1,300 people.

On October 2, a team of Sanzong braved the autumn rain and sneaked under the city of Xifeng. The attack was launched in the early morning of the 3rd, and until 8:00 am on the 4th, the entire city was occupied, and more than 3,000 people defending the city and aiding the enemy outside were wiped out. San Zong stabbed Du Yuming's sore spot with a stab in the back like this. When he learned that Xifeng had fallen, he opened his eyes wide and burst into anger. He mobilized the 14th and 22nd divisions of the New Sixth Army, the new 30th Division of the New First Army, the 195th Division of the 52nd Army, and the 182nd Division of the 60th Army immediately went south and occupied the mountain town all the way. , Caoshi, Yingerbianmen, Qingyuan and other places, but I didn't even see the shadow of Sanzong.

While being confused, San Zong suddenly appeared south of the Shenji Railway, fighting against the enemy troops rushing all the way. The activities of the three verticals completely disrupted Du Yuming's plan to go north. He stood in front of the map and thought hard about the countermeasures. "If the enemy of South Manchuria is not eliminated, it will be difficult to carry out the attack on North Manchuria!" Du Yuming said: "Temporarily give up the attack on Harbin, first from the south to the north, attack from the south and defend from the north. The enemy of South Manchuria must be completely wiped out."

On October 19, 1946, Du Yuming only left the two divisions of the New 1st Army and the 60th Army to stand by the Songhua River, and called up all the rest of the mobilizable troops, a total of 8 whole divisions, with a total of 100,000 people. Relying on the railway line, From west to east, a large-scale frontal attack was launched to the Andong and Tonghua areas. The Northeast War broke out again.Lin Biao was like an old cat that had been stinging for a long time and finally saw the trace of the mouse. He handed over the daily work of Harbin to Gao Gang, went south overnight by himself, and moved the command post to Shuangcheng, 50 kilometers south of Harbin.

The next day, Lin Biao called Xiao Hua of the Liaodong Military Region: Concentrate forces to fight mobile warfare, the city can give up, and the focus is on destroying the enemy's vital forces. Xiao Hua weighed the pros and cons, decided to abandon Andong, and moved to the eastern mountainous area. The four verticals were deployed on the southern line, that is, along the highway and railway from Shenyang to Andong, and the three verticals entered the northern line, operating between Xinbin and Tonghua.Waiting for an opportunity to annihilate the enemy. Just after the deployment was completed, the 195th Division of the 52nd Army of the Kuomintang marched eastward alone, passing Xinbin.Cheng Shicai, the commander of the third column, seized the opportunity to defeat a regiment of the division first, and then joined Hu Qicai's fourth column to lay down "pockets", wait for the fish with a net, and prepare to annihilate the 195th division in one fell swoop.

However, the 195th Division's sense of smell seemed to suddenly become sharper, and they were cautious and timid, and did not advance slowly until the 91st Division, its backup force, arrived. At this time, the temporary 2nd Division, which had just occupied Huanren, also followed. The three verticals were unable to fight against the three enemy divisions, so Cheng Shicai sighed, ordered the attack to be abandoned, and all units retreated. Since then, the three verticals have exchanged fire with the Kuomintang troops attacking from various directions many times, and they fought and retreated. At the end of the year, they retreated to the Qidaojiang area in the Linjiang area in the north of Tonghua. The four verticals were also divided into two divisions. The deputy commander Han Xianchu led the 10th Division to continue its activities in Xinbin, and the commander Hu Qicai led the 12th Division to withdraw to the Saimaji area where the 11th Division was active. Hu Qicai had just crossed Motianling, but he encountered the 11th Division who was withdrawing from the horse racing market. "What happened?" Hu Qicai was taken aback. "The 25th Division of the 52nd Army of the Kuomintang broke into the horse racing market under the leadership of the division commander Li Zhengyi!" The 11th Division reported. The 25th Division of the 52nd Army is Chiang Kai-shek's direct line of troops, all equipped with American equipment, once expeditioned to Burma, and was known as the "Thousand Li Horse" because of its proficiency in expeditionary warfare.Li Zhengyi, the commander of the division, was eager to make contributions, and went straight down alone. On the evening of October 21, he captured Saimaji, and then left two battalions of troops to rest for a while. On October 24, he continued to march south and rushed to Fengcheng. "Take back the lost ground!" Hu Qicai gave an order, and the 11th and 12th divisions marched together, and at dawn on the 25th they regained Saimaji. Zhao Gongwu, the commander of the 52nd Army, saw that something was wrong, and hurriedly ordered Li Zhengyi, who was rushing to Fengcheng, to return to the division for rescue.Li Zhengyi suspected that the Saimaji area was the main force of the Democratic Alliance Army, so he called all the regiments along the way to gather at the division headquarters, and marched northward with the entire division. When Hu Qicai saw that Li Zhengyi's entire division had returned to aid, he hurriedly withdrew to Xinkailing, and urgently ordered Han Xianchu to lead the 10th division to return from the Xinbin area immediately. Li Zhengyi recaptured the horse racing market, complacent, and immediately reported to the army commander Zhao Gongwu: "This is only the 11th Division of the Communist Army. Their whereabouts have been found out. Now I might as well wipe out the division to avoid future troubles." On October 30, the triumphant Li Zhengyi divided his troops into two groups and rashly attacked the Kuandian area.Hu Qicai used all his tactics and fought steadily, luring Li Zhengyi into the steep mountainous area in the east of Xinkailing. Xinkailing is located about 35 kilometers west of Kuandian. It starts from Xinkailing in the west and ends at Yangbianmen in the east. There is a long and narrow valley of nearly 15 kilometers. There are 746 highlands (also known as "Laoyeling") in the north of the valley, and 404 highlands in the south. The two peaks face each other, soaring into the clouds and steep mountains. In the middle of the valley is the road from Saimaji to Kuandian. On the morning of October 30th, the 11th Division of the Fourth Column successfully led Li Zhengyi into the valley and locked Xinkailing tightly. At this time, the 12th Division was ambushing on both sides of the valley. The 10th Division led by Han Xianchu braved the rain and snow in the early winter, endured hunger and thirst, climbed mountains and ridges, and traveled rapidly for days, and arrived at the northeast of Xinkailing that night. . All the strength of the four verticals gathered in Xinkailing, waiting for an order, they could gnaw at Li Zhengyi's tough bone together. In the early morning of the 31st, the fiery red sun burst out, setting a golden border on the peaks of Xinkailing.Three red flares suddenly rose into the air.Gunshots erupted in the valley, and the four verticals launched a general attack on Li Zhengyi's 25th Division. Li Zhengyi felt bad at this moment, and wanted to turn around, not thinking that the four verticals had already surrounded him on all sides. The 25th Division has no way out now. "Thousand Li Horse" looked around in the middle of the valley, and could only rely on its superior equipment to seek a breakthrough. The artillery power of "Thousand Miles Horse" does have obvious advantages. The desperate Li Zhengyi roared hoarsely to supervise the battle, and the two strategic commanding heights, Laoyeling and 404 Highland, soon fell into the hands of the Kuomintang army. The fierce and cruel battle for the mountains began. The 10th Division stormed Highland 404 with a regiment, while other troops approached Laoyeling forcefully. Li Zhengyi couldn't take care of both places, so he put 404 Highland in a defensive position, and transferred the main attack point to Laoyeling. The 28th Regiment of the 10th Division, which was in charge of the main attack, charged Laoyeling repeatedly, but Laoyeling was difficult and could only attack from the north.Li Zhengyi relied on the permanent big bunker built by the Japanese army here before, and stubbornly defended it. The 28th regiment organized 9 consecutive attacks and suffered heavy casualties, but it failed. With such a stalemate, the damage to the Democratic Alliance Army is gradually increasing. At this time, the three-way army of the Kuomintang is also advancing in parallel. The South Road, with the 14th Division of the New 6th Army as the main force, has captured Zhuanghe and Dagushan, closing the sea connection between the Democratic Alliance Army, Dalian and Shandong; The 182nd Division approached the city of Tonghua by split route, cutting off the connection between the troops of the Liaodong Military Region and Dongman and Beiman. Kailing is approaching. And the 22nd Division of the New Army, which rushed to reinforce the 25th Division, has already arrived in the Shuanglingzi area, only one day away from Xinkailing! Now, in the battle of Xinkailing, Laoyeling could not be attacked for a long time, and the Democratic Alliance Army has entered a dilemma.Thoughts in the military were shaken. Late at night on November 1, Peng Jiaqing, political commissar of the Four Verticals, called an emergency meeting of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee. At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Commander Han Xianchu got up and said: "We are currently encountering difficulties, but we cannot only see our own difficulties and ignore the enemy's difficulties. Judging from the more than two days of fighting, although we have suffered a lot of casualties Big, but the enemy has more casualties than us, we have difficulties, the enemy is more difficult than us, we are tired, the enemy is more tired than us. As long as we boost our morale, adjust our deployment, organize our artillery fire, and persist until the end, Laoyeling will definitely be able to Take it. At this moment, we must not waver in our determination and fall short. I advocate: fight resolutely!" Hu Qicai saw that Han Xianchu agreed with his point of view, and continued: "Now we are riding on the back of a tiger. As the saying goes, it is too dangerous to withdraw from the battle, and it will inevitably lead to a passive situation in the future. Since it is difficult to get off, we will See then we won’t go down. Now our key is to take Laoyeling.” "Okay!" Chief of Staff Li Fuze responded, "As long as everyone agrees, I suggest that all the artillery be gathered overnight and prepare to storm Laoyeling at dawn tomorrow." After hearing this, Peng Jiaqing said excitedly: "This battle must be fought, and must be won. Only victory can frustrate the enemy's spirit and disrupt its attack plan. Now let's discuss how to fight." When it comes to style of play, it seems that the division commanders are more active. After several discussions, everyone finally felt that the "blossom in the abdomen" play proposed by Du Guanghua, the commander of the 10th Division, was better. Du Guanghua suggested: The four verticals should concentrate their main forces and go straight to the Huangjiapuzi where the enemy is concentrated, so that they don't have to entangle with the enemy on the hills, and they can fight quickly. Seeing that everyone agreed, Han Xianchu didn't speak. He pondered for a while, and then said: "I am here to provide you with two small situations, please think about it. Because I have been on the mountain behind Laoyeling for the past few days, I observed that during the daytime today, the enemy is There is only about one battalion in the back mountain of Laoyeling, but after dark, many people have been added there. It is judged that this is the enemy's general reserve. From this, it can be seen that the enemy is going to defend with all its strength. In addition For one thing, the enemy has been building fortifications around Huangjiapuzi, obviously, the enemy is wary of the flowering in our belly." Han Xianchu brought up these two "small situations", which immediately aroused heated debate among everyone.Gradually, everyone felt that "blossoming in the abdomen" was indeed too dangerous. Han Xianchu returned to his seat and sat down: "As far as I can see, the terrain is not good, and the enemy's fortifications and firepower are strong. These are indeed unfavorable factors in front of us. However, we also have problems. Our artillery fire is piecemeal, and the troops Come and go, that tactic is not conducive to offense." "All kinds of artillery must be organized in a unified way, and all howitzers and mortars should be used to shoot at the enemy reserve behind the mountain; all field artillery and mountain artillery should be used to suppress the enemy on the top of the mountain, to cover the powerful commandos, and storm Laoye Ridge. In this way , Laoye Ridge is bound to be captured." Han Xianchu said firmly. "Let's decide like this." Hu Qicai concluded, "When we go back, we will unify our thinking and make preparations. We will storm Laoyeling at dawn." After the meeting, Hu Qicai and Peng Jiaqing went to the position of the 10th Division in person to coordinate the battle arrangements on the spot.Han Xianchu was in charge of concentrating all the artillery fire. He personally directed the transfer of these cannons to the best position, and deployed the supply of shells for each artillery group. At 7:00 a.m. on November 2, the offensive at Laoyeling resumed. For a while, a salvo of artillery was fired, thunder and lightning flashed, and the enemy bunkers were blown down one after another. Seeing this scene, the 28th Regiment of the 10th Division was excited, shouted for a while, and rushed forward bravely, braving the enemy's artillery fire, one after another. At 8:30 in the morning, the commanding heights were finally won. Unwilling to see the loss of Laoyeling, Li Zhengyi gathered more than 2,000 remaining troops of the whole division to launch a counterattack. Seeing this scene, Han Xianchu hurriedly ordered the artillery regiment to gather all the cannons to bombard the enemy group violently. More than 400 rounds of shells fell from the sky like hailstones, beating the enemy to pieces, killing and wounding everywhere, and leaving in a rout. "All artillery groups shifted their targets and bombarded Li Zhengyi's headquarters." Han Xianchu shouted ahead of the battle. There was another burst of artillery fire, and the headquarters of the 25th Division was blown to the ground. The scattered enemy troops ran around, rushing to the 404 highland for a while, and rushing to the exit of the valley for a while, but they were all suppressed by the four arson forces. At this time, Hu Qicai gave an order, and the Democratic Alliance Army rushed down from all directions like a tide. Li Zhengyi's troops had nowhere to escape, and were trapped on the river beach near Huangjiapuzi, and surrendered one after another. At 10 a.m. on November 2, the battle at Xinkailing was over.Li Zhengyi, the commander of the "Qianliju" division, shaved his head and disguised himself as a cook, trying to find an opportunity to escape, but in the end he couldn't escape, and walked into the prison camp with a leg injury. In this battle, the four columns of the Democratic Alliance Army killed and injured more than 1,190 enemy troops, and captured more than 8,000 enemy commander Li Zhengyi, deputy division commander Duan Peide, Huang Jianyong and others, and captured more than 110 artillery pieces, 225 light and heavy machine guns, There are 4,670 guns. With the strength of 8 regiments, the four verticals wiped out the entire Kuomintang division known as the "Thousand Li Horse"!When the 22nd Division of the New Army, which came for reinforcements, was only 15 kilometers away from Xinkailing, it learned that the 25th Division had been completely wiped out. Du Yuming, the commander-in-chief of the Northeast "Suppression General", was shocked for a long time after hearing the news.A few days later, he gave a speech to officers of the New 38th Division of the New 1st Army and said: "Today we should refrain from arrogance and never underestimate the combat effectiveness of the Communist Army. This time, the 25th Division was negligent and aggressive, so that it was completely wiped out. The 25th Division is such a good unit, it is really sad to end like this. If everyone is like the 25th Division in the future, the party and the country will perish!" Speaking of this, Du Yuming's waving hand suddenly stopped, and even trembled a few times involuntarily. Du Yuming was unwilling to admit defeat. The annihilation of "Thousand Li Horse" made his seven orifices smoke, but at the same time it also strengthened his determination to "first go south and then go north". "The Communist Army in South Manchuria must be completely eradicated!" In November 1946, Du Yuming ordered all troops to be dispatched to pacify South Manchuria. The Kuomintang army took Li Zhengyi as a lesson, and made steady progress step by step. The base area of the Democratic Alliance Army in South Manchuria has shrunk rapidly.By December, only the four counties of Linjiang, Changbai, Mengjiang and Fusong and two Dashangou remained. This area is long and narrow, sparsely populated, and quite poor. Under the leadership of Hu Qicai, the four verticals braved the severe cold and traveled long distances, and arrived at Qidaojiang in the Linjiang area in early December, where they joined forces with Cheng Shicai and the three verticals.30,000 to 40,000 troops and government cadres gathered in such a narrow area, it was difficult to eat and live, and it was inconvenient to move.In addition, it was the cold winter, the weather was bad, and the third and fourth verticals lacked supplies from the rear, so life was very difficult. "The dilemma of the third and fourth verticals must be resolved as soon as possible." Lin Biao walked around anxiously in Shuangcheng, "I think we can consider letting them cross the river north." Thinking of this, Lin Biao made preliminary calculations, "We now have 120,000 troops. The North Manchuria area can follow the example of South Manchuria and form three columns. In this way, Wan Yi will be the commander of the first column, with jurisdiction over 1 , 2, and 3 divisions; Liu Zhen served as the commander of the second column, and governed the 4, 5, and 6 divisions; in addition, a sixth column was added first, with Chen Guang as the commander, governing the 16, 17, and 18 divisions; Nanman maintained the original establishment, The third column is commanded by Cheng Shicai, with jurisdiction over the 7th, 8th, and 9th divisions; the fourth column is commanded by Hu Qicai, with jurisdiction over the 10th, 11th, and 12th divisions. In addition, the 359th brigade in North Manchuria can be set as an independent brigade, and the original brigade in South Manchuria The Liaonan Independent Division and the Southern Manchuria Independent Division 2 and 3 can also be retained." Lin Biao called the staff around him: "Announce the new adjustment of the establishment, and call another meeting to discuss it, and prepare to let the third and fourth cross the river north." The meeting of leading cadres of the Northeast Bureau was held under the auspices of Lin Biao. Most of the participants disagreed with the South Manchurian troops going north.Chen Yun, who was presiding over the land reform in North Manchuria, offered to go to South Manchuria to carry out work, and Xiao Jinguang, who was engaged in military production in Dalian and happened to report to the Northeast Bureau, also made the same request.Lin Biao thought for a while, and made a decision at the meeting, agreeing to the request of the two. On October 27, 1946, the Northeast land was covered with snow and the wind was biting.Chen Yun and Xiao Jinguang left Harbin with heavy responsibilities, went to Linjiang via North Korea via Mudanjiang and Tumen. Although the two did not encounter the Kuomintang army along the way, they almost died at the train station. When their train arrived at Dougouzi Station in Ning'an County, it was late at night, and the car had just stopped when a truck was climbing ahead due to lack of fuel and power, so it suddenly slid down the slope and went straight to Chen Yun. The train rushes.Seeing that it was about to collide with Chen Yun's train, a switchman struggled to open the switch at a critical moment. The truck overturned and the rails were damaged.Chen Yun and Xiao Jinguang could only wait for the railway to be repaired before moving forward. When they made a long circle from Pyongyang to Linjiang, where the Liaodong Military Region is located, it was already November 27. At this time, Linjiang seemed to be colder than Beiman, and the roaring north wind slapped the doors and windows with snow flakes. In the vast ravine, only the whistling wind is heard, and no human voice is heard. The arrival of Chen Yun and Xiao Jinguang seemed to add a layer of chill to the place. The army leaders in South Manchuria have been informed that they are preparing to abandon South Manchuria and cross the river to the north. When Chen Yun announced that he would set up the Northeast Bureau and the South Full Score Bureau, and stood firm, the Linjiang area suddenly fell into chaos. Some troop leaders strongly demanded to leave. The first meeting held by Chen Yun ended in discord. For more than half a month thereafter, Chen Yun and Xiao Jinguang held symposiums separately, had individual talks, learned about the situation, and exchanged ideas. On December 11, Xiao Jinguang convened a meeting of cadres above the division level of the Liaodong Military Region, and proposed a new policy of military action: "Focus on the military counter-Qing campaign, use powerful guerrilla corps to go deep into the enemy's rear, extensively carry out guerrilla warfare, and delay and attack the enemy's new offensive. Concentrate the main force in an appropriate position, prepare for the enemy's attack, wipe out part of it, and cooperate with guerrilla warfare." Xiao Jinguang said: "From the current point of view, the serious situation in South Manchuria has arrived and may develop. But this must not change our adherence to South Manchuria. full of determination." No, Xiao Jinguang's impassioned speech immediately aroused the opposition of most of the participants. "The terrain in the Linjiang area is narrow, and there is no room for maneuver for large troops. At the same time, there are insufficient soldiers and weapons. If we withdraw across the Songhua River, we can preserve our strength and counterattack in the future." This is the mainstream opinion. Chen Yun, who was doing activities in Linjiang, heard about this and came to Qidaojiang on the evening of December 13th despite the wind and snow, and talked with everyone all night. At the meeting the next day, Chen Yun made an important speech. He said: The situation in South Manchuria is indeed very serious now.But what to do in this situation? It is wrong to hide and shout "perseverance", but to take practical actions to fight. Why persist in the South Manchurian struggle? The enemy in the Northeast is like an ox. The head and body of the ox are headed towards North Manchuria, and a ox tail is left in South Manchuria. If we let go of this ox tail, it will be a disaster. Man cannot be kept, and North Man is also in danger. If we catch the ox's tail, the enemy will be in a dilemma. Therefore, catching the tail of the ox is the key. Chen Yun's speech was crisp and crisp, with a strong voice. After speaking, Xiao Hua immediately expressed: I agree with the decision to stick to South Manchuria.Driven by him, most leaders also agreed one after another, and the atmosphere of the meeting suddenly became active. Chen Yun struck while the iron was hot, and immediately conducted research on specific operational policies and deployments. The meeting decided to take "consolidating the Changbai Mountains and sticking to the base area behind the enemy" as the strategic guiding ideology. In terms of task assignment, the four verticals will advance behind the enemy, contain the enemy, and destroy the communication lines; the three verticals will be responsible for consolidating the existing base areas and concentrating their forces to withstand the enemy's attack. . In this way, Nanman finally persevered.Chen Yun served as the secretary of the South Full Score Bureau and the political commissar of the Liaodong Military Region, Xiao Jinguang served as the commander of the Liaodong Military Region, and Xiao Hua was the deputy commander. The depressed Linjiang area has regained its vitality. The construction of the base area has started vigorously again. Chen Yun laughed, but Du Yuming became angry. Du Yuming yelled loudly that he wanted the democratic coalition forces in South Manchuria to "drive to Changbai Mountain to chew bark and squeeze down the Yalu River to drink cold water", seeing that they had no place to stand.Unexpectedly, before the arrival of a month, they actually became enthusiastic again in Linjiang, so they ordered the troops from all walks of life: set off with all troops, and go straight to Linjiang! On December 27, Zheng Dongguo personally led the 91st Division of the New 6th Army, the 60th Army, the 52nd Army, and the 71st Army. "Du Yuming's eyes are red again," Xiao Jinguang said, "I ordered Hu Qicai to punch him hard in the back with Si Zong." At this time, the Four Zongs were active in the Xinbin area. After receiving the telegram, they made a full-scale attack, marched into Xinkailing, attacked Benxi County, attacked the Kuomintang army's rear defenders everywhere, and opened up an area of more than 70 kilometers east of Benxi. kilometers of mountain bases. Du Yuming connected several emergency telegrams a day and had to withdraw part of the troops attacking Linjiang. Zheng Dongguo's army was shaken. "The opportunity is here!" Cheng Shicai, who was guarding Linjiang, led the three verticals across the red earth cliff and approached Tonghua. From January 3, 1947, he took the initiative to attack the enemy's 195th division that entered Liudaojiang. On the 13th, the 195th Division fled back to Tonghua. At this time, only the 2nd Division of the 52nd Army in Ji'an City was still ready to move among the Kuomintang troops around Linjiang. Seeing that the 195th Division retreated, the 2nd Division decided to advance alone and entered the Linjiang area on January 16. I don't want to, the four verticals that are deep behind the enemy are waiting for it to be dispatched. As soon as the 2nd division was released from Ji'an, Hu Qicai took advantage of the emptiness and arrived, and the 2nd division immediately withdrew from Linjiang and retreated to its lair.Linjiang's three verticals followed closely behind, chasing all the way. The enemy's 2nd division never dared to come out again, and Linjiang was relieved of the danger of being besieged. This is the Battle of Yibao Linjiang, which lasted for more than a month. Knowing that the South Manchurian troops had started fighting, Lin Biao began to plan how to start the battle in the north. Didn't Du Yuming want to "attack from the south and defend from the north", so the Democratic Alliance Army would "strike from the south and pull from the north". On January 5, 1947, when Zheng Dongguo led troops to attack Linjiang, Lin Biao saw that the Kuomintang troops in South Manchuria had been pinned down by the three and four columns, and immediately called Wan Yi, Li Tianyou, Liang Xingchu, Liu Zhen, Wu Faxian, Chen Guang, Yang Guofu and others: led the troops across the Songhua River and attacked its tower wood. The snow in Harbin is knee-deep, and the ice on the Songhua River is almost three feet. The troops in the first column took the lead, stepped across the glacier, and divided into three groups. The 1st Division is responsible for blocking enemy reinforcements from the direction of Jiutai in the Zhangmazigou area southwest of its Tamu, the 2nd Division is responsible for blocking enemy reinforcements from the direction of Wula Street in the Zhangjiatun area south of its Tamu, and the 3rd Division is mainly attacking its Tamu . At noon on January 6, Qitamu was suddenly surrounded by Northeast Democratic Alliance troops from the north bank of the Songhua River. Although its tower wood is only a small town in the southeast of Dehui, it is an important outlying stronghold of the KMT's trump card New 1st Army defending Jilin and Changchun. The 38th Division of the New 1st Army stayed here with a battalion and about 700 logistics troops. They built solid fortifications in the town. The big bunker in the middle of the street is the command center of the defenders. There are countless large and small bunkers around the town. These bunkers surround the town and connect end to end. Formed a criss-cross defense system.Since it was mid-winter at that time, all the bright and dark castles were covered by snow, and they were integrated with the earth, making it difficult to distinguish. At 17:00 on January 6, the 3rd Division of Yizong took the lead in attacking its tower wood. But taking down this white town covered with thick ice and snow was far from as easy as they imagined. After suffering a lot of losses, they discovered that the town was full of dark forts, and the defenses were all rich and powerful. A Kuomintang veteran with combat experience. There were repeated gunshots and gunpowder smoke filled the air.On January 8, the Kuomintang defended the enemy and suddenly fell into chaos. The reinforcements coming from the direction of Jiutai and Dehui have all been surrounded by the democratic coalition forces, and their tamu has been isolated and helpless. After a few bursts of random shooting, the Kuomintang soldiers scattered and fled. During the bloody battle for three days, the 3rd Division killed and injured more than 550 enemies at a heavy cost of 603 casualties, and finally won its tower wood. And the capture of Qitamu was precisely due to the victory in the direction of Jiutai and Dehui. The fighting in the direction of Jiutai was concentrated in a place called Zhangmazigou.Yizong's 1st Division fought a beautiful ambush there. On January 6, the 1st Division received information that the 113th Regiment of the 38th Division of the New 1st Army and the two squadrons of the Jiutai Security Regiment were about to leave Jiutai to reinforce its tower wood. They quickly spread bags in Zhangmazigou and waited for the rabbit. Time flows slowly while waiting. At noon on January 7, the reinforcements of the 113th regiment finally entered the encirclement in a truck as if nothing had happened. With a few crisp gunshots, the ambush started. The various units of the 1st Division were alive and well, and the evacuated formation quickly rushed towards the enemy. The Kuomintang soldiers from the two companies of the 113th regiment who opened the way ahead were captured before they got out of the car.Seeing that the situation was not good, the enemies behind fled in succession, trying to find nearby houses for cover. The soldiers of the 1st Division did not give them a chance at all, charged all the way, and captured more than ten houses in a row. The head of the 113th regiment tried to escape under the cover of orderlies, but was shot dead on the spot by soldiers from the 1st division.Seeing that the head of the regiment was killed, the Kuomintang army immediately became a mess, the formation was completely disrupted, and the soldiers of the 1st Division took advantage of the victory to pursue. In just 3 hours, the battle ended successfully. The 1st Division killed and wounded 240 enemy troops, captured 868 people, seized 2 mountain cannons, 13 mortars, 64 machine guns, 12 cars and a large amount of ammunition. When Zhang Mazigou triumphed, Chen Guang and Yang Guofu led the Six Columns to fight hard in Jiaojialing. The sixth column set off after the first column set off, and its main task was to support the first column that attacked its tower. At noon on the 6th, when Chen Guang and others were marching towards Jiaojialing, they suddenly heard gunshots ahead. While guessing, scouts from Yizong ran over: Yizong exchanged fire with the enemy in Jiaojialing, where there were two companies of the New 1st Army and a security team, about seven or eight hundred people. Chen Guang immediately ordered: dispatch a division and an artillery company to encircle and wipe out this enemy force. The strength of the Democratic Alliance Army suddenly increased, and the New 1st Army knew it was wrong, so they immediately tightened their positions and relied on several independent courtyards to resist stubbornly. The two sides fought fiercely, but they were at a stalemate.Chen Guang secretly wondered: How many people are there? On January 8, an enemy security captain was captured. He stammered: "There is at least a whole battalion of the New 1st Army here." "One more regiment!" Chen Guang shouted. But a regiment has invested, and the progress is still unsatisfactory. At dusk that day, after seven attacks by the Six Columns, a compound was finally laid down at a high cost of 500 casualties. After capturing the new captives, Chen Guangcai fully understood that the enemy army in Jiaojialing was far more than one battalion. The 150th regiment headquarters of the 50th Division of the New 1st Army, the 1st and 3rd battalions, and a part of the local security team were all stationed here! "Add another division!" Chen Guang roared, "Huang Ronghai, the deputy commander of the 18th division, leads a regiment in person and immediately goes into battle!" Jiaojialing has become a veritable snowball. The Kuomintang army was tightly surrounded in the center, and more and more democratic coalition forces gathered on the periphery. On the night of January 9, the Kuomintang army finally lost the enemy, and the enemy regiment leader led the crowd to flee, and were annihilated by nearby troops one after another. The Democratic Coalition captured Jiaojialing. "Okay, three victories in a row!" Lin Biao said after hearing the news from the front line, "Continue to look for opportunities and annihilate the enemy's vital strength!" Before the words were finished, a strong wind suddenly slammed on the window, causing the window panes to rattle and rattle. The poplars and willows on the northeast land swayed to and fro in the strong wind. The sound of the wind roared between the heaven and the earth, like a giant beast walking down the hill, stirring up the snow and flying the ice sand. A cold wave that has not been seen in many years suddenly appeared in North Manchuria. The temperature dropped sharply to -40°C at night, and the front line was in a hurry: the Democratic Alliance Army suffered severe frostbite due to insufficient cold protection equipment. Lin Biao had no choice but to order all the troops to withdraw to the Songhua River and rest on the spot. Sun Liren looked at the back of the Democratic Alliance Army, and could not help crying to Du Yuming: "The New 1st Army has been eaten up by three regiments!" "The weather is bad now, and we will take revenge in the coming spring!" Du Yuming replied fiercely. He was waiting for the weather to improve and to launch a new attack. At the beginning of February, the cold snap gradually weakened. The temperature in Nanman area began to rise slowly. Du Yuming couldn't wait any longer, "Go to South Manchuria again!" This day was February 3, 1947.Linjiang, the second criminal of the Kuomintang army. The 195th and 2nd Divisions of the 52nd Army and the 22nd and 207th Divisions of the New 6th Army were dispatched to take Linjiang directly. The 195th Division, which has always been alone, ran along the road again. "The distance between the 195th Division and the side reinforcements has been separated by about a day or two." Xiao Jinguang and Xiao Hua looked at the marks on the map and said, "We can dispatch the main force of the three verticals and the 10th Division of the four verticals to destroy this first." The 195th division who is greedy for merit." The snow was knee-deep, and the wind howled. The three verticals immediately went into battle. They quickly approached the 195th Division along the ravine, and took the lead in destroying an advance battalion of the enemy in the early morning of February 5. Chen Dalin, the commander of the 195th Division, has become extremely cunning because of his repeated battles with the Democratic Alliance Army.Knowing that the vanguard was wiped out, they immediately turned around and retreated.San Zong pursued them all the way, and in the end, Chen Dalin managed to escape with the remaining 1,000 people. "To chase or not to chase?" San Zong asked Xiao Jinguang for instructions. "There is no need to chase any more, and quickly eliminate an isolated regiment of the 207th Division nearby." On February 7, after another night of fierce fighting, the three verticals wiped out more than 2,000 members of the regiment. So far, the Kuomintang troops who came to invade were defeated one by one, and other groups did not dare to enter again. The Second Guarantee Linjiang battle ended victoriously. Du Yuming originally thought that the democratic coalition forces in southern Manchuria lacked supplies and could not endure the cold winter, so they could be wiped out near Changbai Mountain in one fell swoop.Unexpectedly, the second strike against Linjiang was worse than the first strike against Linjiang, and he was dissatisfied, so he mobilized his troops again and launched the third attack on Linjiang on February 16, 1947. This time, Du Yuming dispatched 5 divisions, which were divided into four groups. The 91st Division of the 71st Army was the main force in the middle; the 2nd Division of the 52nd Army was the right wing; division attack. "This time, Du Yuming came very quickly!" Xiao Jinguang and Xiao Hua received the report from the front and immediately deployed. Xiao Jinguang looked at the map for a long time, then suddenly raised his head to look at Xiao Hua: "Du Yuming not only came quickly this time, but also connected closely." "This time, Du Yuming obviously strengthened the connection between the various divisions, and the various forces coordinated with each other, making it too difficult to attack head-on." Xiao Hua responded. Xiao Jinguang looked at the map again, "That's not invulnerable. You see, the temporary 21st division on the left has to expand outward because it wants to advance with the 22nd division. Some marginal teams can no longer get the support of other groups. Just from The 21st division will start for now!" Xiao Hua nodded.
