Third Field Army 柳江南 15644Words 2018-03-18
The day before the end of the Battle of Shanghai, the flames of war around the city had not been completely extinguished, and the sky over Suzhou Creek was still filled with smoke. In the office, Chen Yi nervously dealt with the various affairs of taking over Shanghai, and at the same time squeezed out time from all kinds of work to plan a new battle. One day, he was concentrating on the map in the office when there was a knock on the door. Then two people walked in, one was Zhang Dingcheng and the other was Ye Fei.The two of them came to accept orders at the appointment of Chen Yi. Chen Yi looked away from the map, and while inviting the two of you to take a seat, he asked with a smile, "The battle in Shanghai has already been decided. Do you know why I invited you two here today?"

Ye Fei and Zhang Dingcheng looked at each other, then shook their heads at the same time. Chen Yi reminded: "You two Hokkien guys think about it carefully. Now that Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai are all liberated, where will our next goal be?" Ye Fei heard the clue, understood what Chen Yi meant, and replied, "I know, Commander Chen has already targeted Fujian." Zhang Dingcheng frowned and said, "That's not right. In the article "Current Situation and Tasks for 1949" issued by the Central Committee, it didn't mean that in the autumn and winter of 1949, we should strive to occupy Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Fujian, Shaanxi, and Gansu. Waiting for most of the province? Moreover, the document clearly states that northern Fujian will be liberated this winter, and the whole of Fujian will be liberated next year. How can we liberate the whole of Fujian now?"

Zhang Dingcheng said it well.Chen Yi replied with a smile: "The central government did analyze it this way. At that time, the central government considered that the liberation of the Beijing-Shanghai-Hangzhou Yangtze River Delta would take a period of time to consolidate. It also estimated that Jiangsu and Zhejiang were Chiang Kai-shek's old dens, and he could not easily withdraw. On the contrary, he may resist for a period of time in the Zhejiang area. In addition, US imperialism may intervene, so the central government took these factors into consideration, and in the plan arranged at the beginning of the year, the plan to liberate Fujian was postponed until next year." Chen Yi said At this point, he said proudly, "However, who expected Chiang Kai-shek to be so unrestrained! Now, the development of the situation is much smoother than we expected. The battle of crossing the river wiped out the enemy's Qianli River defense in an instant. The enemy retreated without a fight, and Hangzhou was easily won. However, in Shanghai, we encountered a little trouble and fought for half a month. However, in general, the whole process was much earlier than we expected. Therefore, the central government based on these Due to the situation, the plan was revised and the whole of China was decided to be liberated one year in advance.” Chen Yi paused, then continued, “According to these circumstances, the central government decided to enter Fujian early. I invite you to come, and I want you to lead the two armies of the Tenth Corps immediately. , head south quickly, and strive to occupy the whole of Fujian within two months of June and July. I don’t know if you two are not confident enough? If you have any difficulties, you can bring them up for joint research.”

Ye Fei shook his head at Chen Yi, then wrenched his fingers and said, "There are at least three difficulties in sending two armies into Fujian immediately. First, there is a shortage of cadres. I am most familiar with the situation in Fujian. Since the Yuan Dynasty, Fujian has had Jianning, Yanping, Shaowu, Tingzhou, Fuzhou, Dehua, Zhangzhou, Quanzhou Balu or Bafu, there are more than 80 counties in the whole province. Fuzhou, also known as Rongcheng, is the capital. Xiamen is an important port to the outside world. Fu, Xiamen is a so-called five-port trading city. Therefore, to take over and operate Fujian, cadres from one provincial, two municipal, eight regional, and more than 80 county-level party and government leading groups and business leading groups are needed. It is estimated that at least 5,000 cadres will be needed. It is impossible for so many cadres to be transferred from the army—the army has to fight, and if it is drawn out, it will not be able to fight. If it is immediately raised from the local area, this is not a small number!"

Chen Yi showed a surprised expression, and said: "Good Ye Fei, you seem to have considered the matter of liberating Fuzhou a long time ago, and you have considered the issue so carefully." Ye Fei smiled noncommittally, and continued his topic: "Time is too tight, I request a one-month delay." He looked up at Chen Yi, and asked, "How about marching into Fujian on June 25?" Before Chen Yi could answer, He also pointed out, "Secondly, the strength of the two armies is insufficient. Our army crossed the Yangtze River overnight, and the main force of the enemy fled south. Now the enemy forces occupying Fujian have at least 10 armies with more than 200,000 troops. You give me two armies, Obviously, the enemy is outnumbered, and it is difficult to support the situation. I ask for an additional army. We have 4 army regiments in the three fields, and the seventh, eighth, and ninth army regiments are all 4 armies, but our tenth army regiment only has 3 armies. High requirements, let all three armies of our Tenth Corps go south to Fujian. Third, the time is short. The battle in Shanghai lasted for half a month, and our Tenth Corps suffered a lot of casualties. If we don’t rest for a while, we will march immediately In Fujian, the troops can't bear it, and there may be a phenomenon of desertion. I asked for a month of training before heading south."

Ye Fei finished his opinion in one breath.Chen Yi nodded in agreement, and he said, "It makes sense. We shouldn't fight unprepared battles, and we shouldn't fight unsure battles." He shifted his gaze from Ye Fei to Zhang Dingcheng, and continued, "The two of you The division of labor is that Ye Fei is in charge of fighting the war, Zhang Dingcheng, you are in charge of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee, and you are in charge of food, clothing and housing for the common people. Moreover, this is Chairman Mao's name." Chen Yi knew Ye Fei's life experience very well, and knew that Ye Fei knew the people's conditions and terrain of Fujian very well.Chen Yi also knew Zhang Dingcheng. Looking at him, he asked, "Are you from Yongding, Fujian? Are you the land lord?"

Zhang Dingcheng touched his head in embarrassment and smiled.Chen Yi went on to say: "You left Fujian only during the War of Resistance Against Japan, and you are very familiar with everything there. It is very appropriate to send you to work there as the secretary of the provincial party committee." Chen Yi said with a smile, "Chairman Mao knows people well. ! Look at the difficulties again." Zhang Dingcheng thought for a while, looked at Ye Fei, and said, "Lao Ye has already told me about my difficulties just now. The main reason is the lack of cadres. I did a preliminary calculation. Just now, Lao Ye asked for 5,000 cadres, which I think is not enough. I estimate that 8,000 cadres are needed to start the work in Fujian. Also, we will leave immediately, and the time is really tight. Now the troops are still cleaning the battlefield in Shanghai, and they must withdraw to Suzhou and Changshu outside the city to prepare for a month before they can act. Fully understanding the enemy situation in Fujian, I suggest organizing an advance team to go south to collect intelligence and raise food."

After Chen Yi thought about it, he said: "Before the soldiers and horses are moved, the food and grass go first. Well, I accept your opinions, but after I have discussed with Political Commissar Deng, Political Commissar Rao, Commander Su, and Chief of Staff Zhang Zhen, I will bring you two forward. Send a telegram to report to the Central Committee about the problem. However, you must be fully mentally prepared. The Central Committee will not give us a cadre. This difficulty can only be raised and resolved by ourselves. I will promise you a few requests for the time being. First, Postpone the southward march for a month. Second, none of the three armies of the Tenth Corps will be left behind, and all will march into Fujian. Third, regarding the issue of cadres, I will immediately call Chen Pixian and Guan Wenwei, and the Northern and Southern Military Regions will support you. Also, Zeng Jingbing fought guerrillas in the mountains of northern Fujian in 1933 and has been in touch with us. The day before yesterday I received a telegram from them saying that they had established base areas in Nanguou, central Fujian, northern Fujian, and northwestern Fujian. Armed with 10,000 people. When you arrive in Fujian, immediately connect with Zeng Jingbing. They can draw a large number of cadres to assist you. Fourth, you can organize an advance team, the number of which is about one regiment—if there is less, the enemy will eat it. It is easy to expose the target and intention." Ye Fei and Zhang Dingcheng were very satisfied with Chen Yi's answer, they said goodbye to Chen Yi, returned to the Suzhou Corps Headquarters, and immediately had a small meeting with Wei Guoqing.A decision was made at the meeting: Liang Lingguang, chief of staff of the 29th Army, and Yao Yunliang, deputy commander of the 31st Army, were ordered to form an advance team to lead the engineering battalion and the reconnaissance detachments of the army and division to enter Fujian ahead of schedule, and to join Zeng Jingbing's Fujian, Zhejiang and Jiangxi border columns. Get in touch, mobilize the masses, raise food funds, and repair roads.

At this time, Yao Yunliang and Liang Lingguang were commanding troops to clean up the battlefield in Shanghai. There were seven or eight holes in their clothes, and their shoes were so torn that the heels were exposed. They were busy all day. They had time to enjoy the lakes and mountains of the famous city of Suzhou in the future. As soon as they received the order, they ran to the engineering battalion and reconnaissance battalion without saying a word, pulled up their teams and set off. They took the train from Shanghai to Quzhou, and then to Pucheng in Fujian. The road was destroyed by the enemy, so they had to walk, day and night, through the mountains and jungles. On the evening of June 20, they joined forces with Zeng Jingbing's troops in Jian'ou.The guerrillas who have persisted in fighting behind enemy lines for a long time cannot express the excitement in their hearts when they see the main force. They held hands, shoulder to shoulder, like long-lost brothers. They talked about the situation in Fujian from the situation of the revolutionary struggle, and they had endless confidantes. The guerrillas took the initiative to take care of the life of the advance team as a landlord, and undertook the work of reconnaissance and food collection. The comrades in the advance team felt sweet in their hearts, and there was a sense of intimacy and belonging like returning home.

Not long after the advance team set off, Ye Fei, Wei Guoqing, and Zhang Dingcheng began intense preparations for going south. When everything was ready, on June 26, Chen Yi received regiment and above cadres of the Tenth Corps at the Shanghai International Hotel.Chen Yi stepped onto the podium, took off his hat, put his hands on his hips, and said enthusiastically to them: "Comrades, you are about to go south. On behalf of the Sanye leadership, I am here to see you off!" Everyone applauded enthusiastically.Chen Yi pressed down with both hands to signal everyone to be quiet, and then said: "Comrades, the Central Military Commission issued a deployment on May 23 to march across the country. We have liberated Shanghai, and we must carry the revolution to the end. We must take advantage of the victory." Go forward. Chiang Kai-shek still has more than 100,000 troops in Fujian. If they don’t wipe them out quickly, they will expand their troops and build permanent fortifications. Comrades, if Chiang Kai-shek is really allowed to gain a firm foothold there, then we will be feeding tigers! When they have the ability and capital, they will go north from Fujian and fight back against me. Some comrades said well that the Party Central Committee and Chairman Mao sent us to liberate Fujian because they trusted us. Liberated Beijing, Shanghai, and Hangzhou It's like sawing down a big tree. But the roots haven't been dug up yet. Where is the root? It's in Fujian and Taiwan. If you, the Ten Corps, don't dig up the roots, the poisonous roots will sprout and grow branches over time. , Chiang Kai-shek's power has become stronger, and we will have to work hard again. Therefore, you are sent to dig the roots now, and you must move quickly. Now you are not afraid that there will be too many enemies and you will not be able to eat them, or you will run slowly and will not be able to encircle them. Your ten corps will be liberated first Fujian, the Ninth Corps is going to liberate Taiwan immediately. They are conducting water combat training exercises in Suzhou and Changshu.” Chen Yi stopped talking, took a sip of water from the teacup on the table, and continued, “I am the mayor of Shanghai. Let’s go with you. I wish you success! I am still an old saying in the past. If you win, you will hold a celebration meeting. A celebration party. At that time, I will definitely take my wife Zhang Qian to Taipei to hold a celebration party! Comrades, see you next time in Xiamen and Taiwan!"

Chen Yi's mobilization was short and to the point. The cadres of the Tenth Corps had tears in their eyes, applauded excitedly, and said in their hearts: "Goodbye, our Boss Chen!" On June 28, the 28th Army, 29th Army, and 31st Army of the Tenth Corps began to march towards Fujian. The former migrant workers from Shandong and northern Jiangsu followed the troops southward with a large amount of food and supplies. They took trains from Suzhou, Shanghai, and Jiaxing respectively, and got off in Shangrao, Jiangxi Province, and then started to walk.It was the hot summer, and everyone carried 10 to 15 kilograms of supplies on their backs, plus guns, ammunition and backpacks, at least 40 kilograms. These things are like a mountain bag, pressing on everyone's backs, making them breathless.Fujian is hilly, and there are many mountains, high and steep, and they climbed one after another.People who have been to Mount Tai in Shandong say that Mount Tai has eighteen plates, which means it is high enough. However, there are more than eighteen mountains here! They kept walking, and climbed round and round, but when they looked up, they still couldn't see the sky or the ground. The soldiers were so tired that they were panting heavily, sweating profusely one by one.Sweat drenched the clothes of the soldiers again and again, big beads of sweat rolled down their faces, and their eyes were blinded by the sweat, as if they were fished out of the water. "To climb a mountain is to win!" "Grit your teeth, cross the Thousand Mountains, and we must liberate the whole of Fujian!" These inspiring slogans are written on the stones on the side of the road, which represent the determination and confidence of all the commanders and fighters of the Tenth Corps.Inspired by these slogans, they moved forward and climbed one mountain after another. After climbing to the top of the mountain, the soldiers seemed to have won a battle. They pointed to the scorching sun above their heads in excitement and said jokingly, "Oh, no wonder it's so hot. We are so close to the sun!" On July 25, the Tenth Corps crossed the mountains and reached Jianyang and Jianou. The soldiers quickly put into training, and the leading agencies were busy formulating combat plans.Ye Fei, Wei Guoqing, Zhang Dingcheng, Chen Qingxian, Chief of Staff of the Tenth Corps, and Liu Peishan, Director of the Political Department, got together to study the combat plan. The first plan they conceived was: (1) take a big detour, cut off its land and sea retreat, detour to the south, occupy Fuqing and Honglu south of Fuzhou, cut off the Fuzhou-Xiamen Highway, and cut off the enemy of Fuzhou from Fuzhou-Xiamen The escape route for the southward escape of the highway.Although the plan is good, it is very difficult to implement it.Because the troops going southward had to start from Youxi, climb over hundreds of kilometers of high mountains, and then drill out from Yongtai to capture Dongzhang before they could capture Fuqing and Honglu. The whole journey is 200 kilometers, with many and high mountains, no roads, no roads, only mountain trails, and cannons and mountain cannons cannot be carried. (2) Take a detour to the east, capture Mawei, and cut off the enemy's sea retreat. Comparing the two plans, the first plan is a dangerous move, and the danger is there. The troops responsible for capturing Mawei only have two days away; while the troops responsible for capturing Fuqing and Honglu have to travel five days.Weapons and ammunition are not counted, and each person has to bring five days of food to cross the mountains and mountains. At that time, the weather was hot and it was difficult to travel long distances. What's more dangerous is that after five days of long-distance marching, the commanders and fighters must be quite exhausted. When the exhausted army inserts between Fuzhou and Quanzhou, it is very likely to be attacked by the enemy from north to south. And if the second option is adopted, the danger is greatly reduced. However, although this plan is safe, since there is no major detour to occupy Fuqing and Honglu, the enemy cannot retreat southward on land. Become ducks. The enemy in Fuzhou may flee south along the Fuzhou-Xiamen Highway by land, and the goal of complete annihilation cannot be achieved. Ye Fei and others researched and weighed again and again, and finally decided to adopt the first plan, and cast a large net around the periphery of Fuzhou, in order to wipe out the enemies of Fuzhou. Did Chiang Kai-shek defend or withdraw from Fuzhou? How did he deploy his troops in Fuzhou? On May 27, the People's Liberation Army captured Shanghai, breaking Chiang Kai-shek's dream of sticking to Greater Shanghai and triggering World War III.Shanghai was defeated, and Chiang Kai-shek's last illusion was completely destroyed. On the day when Ye Fei's Ten Corps captured Yuepu, Chiang Kai-shek sat on a warship like a drifting bottle. After wandering in the sea for half a month, he arrived at the last foothold of his life-Taiwan.Taiwan is a treasure island with beautiful scenery, but Chiang Kai-shek, who was on the run, had no intention of admiring it.He was restless and depressed all day long, unable to sleep at night, and unwilling to eat.Although the loss of most of China made him feel a deep pain, he has not given up yet.In the darkness, he still has a glimmer of hope, a sense of luck. The determination in his bones to compete with the CCP is still tenaciously supporting him.He planned to use Taiwan as the starting point to counterattack the mainland, and determined to use the Sixth, Twenty-second, Eighth, and Twelfth Corps as the main force to fortify in Fuzhou, Xiamen, Zhangzhou and the border areas between Fujian and Guangdong to shield Taiwan. He repeatedly ordered Tang Enbo and Zhu Shaoliang, the director of the Fuzhou Appeasement Office and the chairman of Fujian Province, to stick to Fujian and Fuzhou to the death. People in Fuzhou will never take a step back! At this time, Chiang Kai-shek's total strength in Fujian was still 180,000, and there were 5 armies and 14 divisions, about 60,000 troops deployed to defend Fuzhou. In terms of quantity, 60,000 people is indeed not a small number. However, most of Chiang Kai-shek's troops in Fujian were retreated from Shanghai, Nanjing, and Hangzhou. Although there were many army numbers, there were many officers and few soldiers, and there were many contradictions.Tang Enbo, who was defeated in the Battle of Songhu, actually did not have many soldiers in his hands, but because of his high official rank, he was still appointed by Chiang Kai-shek as the director of the Southeast Advance Command Post and the deputy chief of the Southeast Military and Political Chief Office. When Tang Enbo received the appointment order from Chiang Kai-shek, he was so moved that he didn't know what to say.Chiang Kai-shek not only did not hold him accountable after Tang Enbo was defeated in Songhu and retreated to Fuzhou, but still gave him senior officials. His gratitude to Dade made him determined to share the ups and downs with Chiang on the big goal of anti-communism. Tang Enbo saw Chiang Kai-shek's telegram to defend Fuzhou, and he kept urging Zhu Shaoliang to hold an emergency meeting of officers above the division to convey Chiang's telegram and deploy a plan to defend Fuzhou. In the past, Zhu Shaoliang and Tang Enbo had deep conflicts.Ever since Tang retreated from Shanghai to Fujian and pointed fingers in front of him, he felt even more disgusted. He said coldly to Tang Enbo: "You have 8 armies with 200,000 troops, plus countless steel and concrete fortifications, but you have failed to hold Shanghai. I only have 60,000 troops now. If I can hold Fuzhou, wouldn't it be a fantasy? I have no confidence in defending Fuzhou. I think the wise thing to do is to retreat early." Tang Enbo was generalized by Zhu Shaoliang, so choked that he rolled his eyes and couldn't speak. He was stunned for a long time before he said unconvincingly: "Fuzhou is different from Shanghai. It is now and then! Since Chairman Jiang has an order, we should implement it and keep it for as long as we can. We can't shoot without a single shot." Give it up!" "You mean to put on a show? But, you have to know, this kind of futile resistance can only consume our troops, but it is useless." Zhu Shaoliang threw out another sentence. Tang Enbo had nothing to say, so he had to send a telegram to Chiang Kai-shek, suing Zhu Shaoliang for not wanting to guard Fuzhou. In a word, Zhu Shaoliang is responsible for losing Fuzhou in the future. How could Zhu Shaoliang be led by Tang Enbo by the nose? He also sent a telegram to Chiang Kai-shek, suing Tang Enbo for causing chaos in Fuzhou, which prevented him from defending Fuzhou. In a word, Tang Enbo is responsible for Fuzhou's inability to defend. Chiang Kai-shek received two telegrams at the same time, and stared for a long time with anger. On the morning of June 21, Chiang Kai-shek flew from Taipei to Fuzhou. After the special plane landed slowly at the airport, the hatch opened, and Chiang Kai-shek, dressed in the military uniform of a super general, waved to the people who greeted him.Gu Zhutong, Gui Yongqing, Zhou Zhirou, Jiang Jingguo, Yu Jishi and others followed closely behind him.Facing this illustrious team, the pick-up lineup is of course quite spectacular. After Tang Enbo and Zhu Shaoliang received the telegram that Chiang Kai-shek was coming to Fuzhou, they organized a long and uniform team of generals and officers, waiting obediently at the airport. In addition to Tang Enbo and Zhu Shaoliang, there are also the first-level commanders of the Corps Li Yannian, Zhang Yaoming, Hou Jingru, Fang Xianjue, Zhang Xuezhong, and eight army commanders Chen Shizhang, Ji Xingwen, and Li Tianxia. Chiang Kai-shek never lost his commanding demeanor, he smiled and shook hands with everyone one by one.Suddenly, he looked up and glanced at the welcoming team, frowned slightly, and asked Zhu Shaoliang beside him with displeasure: "Hey, why didn't Liu Ruming come? And Cao Fulin, the commander of the 55th Army under him, and Cao Fulin, the commander of the 68th Army." Commander Liu Ruzhen, why didn't you see it?" Tang Enbo, who was good at observing words and expressions, came up and explained in a low voice in Chiang Kai-shek's ear: "Liu Ruming and Li Yannian are at odds. As soon as Liu Ruming arrived at the airport, he saw Li Yannian there, so he left with his sleeves flung. He wants to see you alone." Chiang Kai-shek understood the reason, and the unhappiness piled on his face was wiped away.He said "Oh" and thought in his heart: So it is like this, once Liu Ruming left, the two army commanders under him naturally followed him.Of course Chiang Kai-shek didn't need to ask any more questions. Zhu Shaoliang interjected. He bowed and pointed to the black bulletproof car, and said respectfully: "The chairman is here, and the people of Fuzhou are lucky. Early this morning, they were waiting on both sides of the street with flowers in their hands! I don't know the chairman. Do you want to go to the city and meet the citizens?" At this moment, the car door was pulled open by the guard.Chiang Kai-shek never expected to go to the city to meet the people. After hearing Zhu Shaoliang's question, he hesitated for a moment, then bowed and got into the car, shook his hands and said, "Forget it." It is heavily guarded. Zhu Shaoliang didn't know about Chiang Kai-shek's concerns. Seeing that Chiang Kai-shek was unwilling to enter the city, he proposed to invite Chiang Kai-shek to inspect the Sui Department in Fuzhou and take a break for a while. Chiang Kai-shek was still doing the same old thing, shaking his hands and saying: "Forget it, forget it, keep everything simple, and I won't go anywhere. Guangzhou and Chengdu are also waiting for me. Time is precious, so it is not suitable to stay for a long time, so I will open an office in the office building of the airport." Will." All the officials showed astonishment, and then filed into the conference room of the airport office building.Chiang Kai-shek sat upright, holding a roster. Those who were named stood at attention one by one, and after Chiang Kai-shek nodded, Fang sat down upright. At 9:30, the meeting officially started.Chiang Kai-shek said: "Now, I come to meet you as the president of the Kuomintang. I am a president who has stepped down, and I should not ask about state affairs anymore. President Li will handle the crisis on behalf of President Li and fight against the Communist army. But think of Premier Sun. The entrustment and last words are now at a critical juncture for our party, therefore, I have retired for half a year, and I have not forgotten for a moment the long-suffering robes, and I hope that everyone will work together to strive for the final victory." Chiang Kai-shek vowed to show that he is wholeheartedly for the country and the party sincere heart. He glanced at his engrossed subordinates, lowered his face, and said sharply, "The troops guarding the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and those stationed in Zhejiang retreated to Fujian in early May. At that time, Chen Yi's main force was attacking Shanghai, and only Liu Bocheng followed into northern Fujian. Fortunately, The enemy can't figure out the details of Fuzhou, so they didn't drive straight in. If the enemy knows your state of distress, it only needs one regiment to occupy Fuzhou. The commander of your corps and the commander of the Sui District just ran for your life, threw away your armor and armor, disturbed the people along the way, and came to Fujian I did not ask the Ministry of National Defense to strictly investigate. Now, the morale of the troops is low and military discipline is abolished. According to reports, some division commanders, regimental commanders, and battalion commanders still want to escape, and some went to Taiwan without approval. Taiwan Is it where you go? Do you want to retire to the old age?" Chiang Kai-shek's face was as cold as iron, and he glanced coldly at every participant, his voice was sharp and aggressive.Everyone lowered their heads and held their breath, especially Zhu Shaoliang, who strongly advocated retreating to Taiwan, felt like he was sitting on pins and needles. The meeting room was silent.Chiang Kai-shek took a short breath, and his tone eased a lot, and then he said: "You have lost confidence in defending Fujian, which is a great sigh! Everyone should know that if Fuzhou falls into the hands of the Communist army prematurely, it will have a great political impact. More than half of Taiwan People are originally from Fujian, and they are very concerned about their hometown. The majority of overseas Chinese in Nanyang are also from Fujian. If Fuzhou falls, they will think that the KMT is completely finished. This psychological change will make us lose the sympathy and sympathy of our overseas compatriots. Support. Therefore, for the sake of the overall situation, Fuzhou must stick to it..." Chiang Kai-shek was eloquent, beating and pulling, earnestly speaking, knowing his own interests. Finally, he clasped his fists again and begged, "Everyone, please return to the army and convey my greetings from Mr. Jiang to all the soldiers! I hope they will use their blood and lives to defend Fujian and consolidate Taiwan, and the lost land will be restored!" He talked until 2:30 in the afternoon. After lunch, Chiang Kai-shek talked to people separately. The first person to be called was Zhu Shaoliang. As soon as Zhu Shaoliang entered the door cautiously, he was frightened by the anger on Chiang Kai-shek's face and couldn't move forward or retreat.Chiang Kai-shek yelled loudly, and immediately asked: "I have repeatedly issued orders to you to build cement fortifications outside Fuzhou. Why have you not moved yet? I couldn't find a single cement fortification on the plane!" His words fell on deaf ears, and he asked scoldingly, "Are you still going to guard Fuzhou? You answer my words!" Zhu Shaoliang was frightened half to death, and said tremblingly: "Chairman, I am in trouble! Fujian is not our military leader!" "How do you say that?" Chiang Kai-shek narrowed his eyes. "The chairman doesn't know something. First, I don't have cement, and I don't have money to buy cement. Fujian people are very feudal, they advocate Fujian people governing Fujian, and strongly reject people from other provinces. Some people say...some say..." Zhu Shaoliang stammered, peeping Looking at Chiang Kai-shek, he dared not continue talking. Chiang Kai-shek was furious, and said impatiently: "What did someone say?" "Some people say that the national government is not as good as the Communist Party in employing people. They think highly of Fujianese Deng Zihui, Zhang Dingcheng, and Ye Fei. They say that Fujianese have been ruled by people from other provinces, and they feel uncomfortable. So the provincial council made a decision that the troops from other provinces They are not allowed to enter Fujian, and they can only live in mountainous areas..." "Nonsense!" Chiang Kai-shek interrupted him, "What I'm asking is, why don't you build concrete works! You're talking about Deng Zihui, Zhang Dingcheng, and Ye Fei. What the hell are you thinking?" Zhu Shaoliang lowered his head and never spoke again. There is a saying that if the three don't open their mouths, it will be difficult for the gods to make a move.Chiang Kai-shek couldn't help but slapped the table and shouted: "Tell me, what the hell are you planning?" "Chairman, if you really want me to tell, then I'll say it." Zhu Shaoliang was so anxious that he made up his mind, thought, and decided to go all out, and let him talk quickly! He made up his mind, and he spoke much more smoothly, "There are many reasons for not building cement fortifications, but the main reason is that the brothers don't like Tang Enbo. He can't fight, he gave Shanghai and Nanjing to the Communist Party, and made a mess of Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou." , should be punished, and if it is serious, he should be imprisoned and beheaded. However, this time he retreated to Fujian, and the chairman of the committee gave him the title of director of the Southeast Advance Command Center—everyone was not convinced. Let’s talk about Chen Cheng. Chairman of Taiwan Province, it would be great if we can make Taiwan a good place. He also conferred the title of military and political officer in the southeast. Now, how big is the southeast province? Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui have been lost, so half of Fujian is left! Fujian people are so stupid At this point, I can’t manage Fujian well by myself, so Tang Enbo must come to be the supervisor and Chen Cheng to be the overlord?” Zhu Shaoliang let out the resentment in his heart, but he was no longer afraid, panicked, or trembling, and calmly waited for Chiang Kai-shek’s decision The storm came to him. I thought that a few words would arouse the rage of the chairman, but unexpectedly, Chiang Kai-shek sat there without saying a word, and only sighed after a long while. He learned from Zhu Shaoliang that everyone had great opinions on Tang and Chen. However, I just gave the order, if I take it back immediately, it would be too embarrassing for the commander - after all, I am the leader of a party, and I must not lose my prestige. So, he took a breath and sincerely changed the topic: "What do the officers and soldiers think about defending Fujian? Are their thoughts stable?" "Ah!" People are really weird sometimes, some people eat soft but not hard, some eat hard but not soft.Zhu Shaoliang is a soft-hearted person, seeing Chiang Kai-shek's amiable face, his righteous indignation just now softened immediately. He sighed heavily, and said: "I once called Fujian's military and government officials to discuss the issue of defense. However, they couldn't discuss it, and everyone said something discouraging. They said that Fuzhou is not suitable for war, nor should it stick to it. One A fight will destroy houses, kill people, and cause huge losses. They also said that Fujian is backed by the sea, and there is no precedent for successful defense in history. Shanghai has more solid fortifications than Stalingrad, with an elite 250,000 , and still can’t defend for half a month. Fuzhou has the Wulong River in the south and the sea in the east. To counter. The communist army is characterized by a strong army and a weak navy, and they don’t have so many wooden boats to cross the sea. Therefore, I advocate withdrawing troops to the islands to hold on.” Chiang Kai-shek saw that he was going around, and then went around the issue of retreating to Taiwan. He really couldn't listen to it, but he couldn't get angry, so he issued an order to expel the guest: "Okay, you go, call Chen Shizhang, the commander of the 25th Army." Come." Zhu Shaoliang's problem was left alone. Chen Shizhang pushed the door in and saluted Chiang Kai-shek.After Chiang Kai-shek sat down, he looked up and down around him, and asked suspiciously: "It's the hot season now, and it's too hot to fan. Why are you still wearing cotton clothes? Are you suffering from swaying?" "President!" Chen Shizhang's voice changed when he heard Chiang Kai-shek raise this question. With a crying voice, he knelt down in front of Chiang Kai-shek with a "plop", "President, I finally saw you today, old man, and the bitterness of our 25th Army can be poured out!" Chen Shizhang's behavior really frightened Chiang Kai-shek.He was taken aback, and quickly helped Chen Shizhang up, and asked, "Commander Chen, you don't need to kneel down if you have something to say." "President, do you ask me why I wear cotton-padded clothes in the hot summer? I am not swaying, and the other is not crazy. You don't know. Last autumn, when I participated in the Xu Bang Battle in Xin'an Town, I gave out cotton-padded clothes. I haven't given out single clothes so far. The unlined clothes and belongings were lost again. The cotton clothes of many officers and soldiers have been worn out, they really look like beggars!" "There is such a thing?" Chiang Kai-shek was stunned, "Is it true that no unlined clothes have been distributed this year?" "If I tell half a lie, I will be struck by lightning!" Chen Shizhang cursed and swore. "It's unreasonable!" Chiang Kai-shek got angry. With a bang, he threw the roster on the table and said to Yu Jishi, the director of the president's office, "You immediately bring me Miao Qixian, the commander of the Fuzhou supply area!" Yu Jishi agreed, turned around and left. Not long after, the short and fat Miao Qixian came.Chiang Kai-shek was so angry that he immediately lowered his face and asked loudly, "Miao Qixian, let me ask you, why haven't the summer uniforms of the 25th Army been released yet? What have you done recently?" Miao Qixian stood at attention with a "snap", and replied loudly: "Report to the chairman, the real number of troops from other provinces entering Fujian is only 50,000, but 250,000 were reported to the authorities. How can we get so many clothes all at once? Send it to the following and let them solve it by themselves. However, some did it, and some embezzled the money." "My surname is Miao, you can't spit blood!" Chen Shizhang was angry and anxious, arguing with a flushed face, "Chairman, we have neither received clothes nor money. Miao Qixian lied in front of your old man and accused the black shape!" "Is it because I spitting blood?" Miao Qixian did not do anything wrong, and was not afraid of ghosts knocking on the door in the middle of the night. He took out a small book from his pocket confidently, flipped through a few pages with saliva on his hands, and handed it to Chen Shizhang, "Look, you Look, the clothing fee of the 25th Army was taken away on April 5th, and here is the signature of Shi Jianfeng, the director of military supplies, and the proof is as solid as a mountain!" Chen Shizhang was so angry that he kicked his feet and cursed: "This son of a bitch Shi Jianfeng, he fled to Hong Kong! It turned out that he fled with this public money. I was really blind and saw the wrong person!" Chiang Kai-shek saw them both blushing and arguing, waved his hands, and said, "Forget it, forget it, don't quarrel. Commander Miao, you should quickly distribute a set of summer clothes to each of the officers and soldiers of the Twenty-fifth Army. In this hot weather, wearing How do cotton clothes fight?" Miao and Chen nodded, turned and left. The next one is Tang Enbo.He made a command error in the battle of Menglianggu, which led to the annihilation of the reorganized 74th Division, and Zhang Lingfu was killed.Chiang Kai-shek dismissed Tang Enbo as commander of the corps, and he was reinstated after being recommended by Chen Yi.Seeing Tang Enbo, Chiang Kai-shek remembered Zhu Shaoliang's complaint just now, and he couldn't get out of his anger, so he said with a sullen face: "You lost Meng Lianggu, and you didn't fight well in Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou. You should be punished again! I think you have shown remorse, and here we go." You saved face and entrusted you with a heavy responsibility. You have to fight for me. This time defending Fujian, you must do your best and not be careless, otherwise, I will not spare you lightly!" Tang Enbo is dumb and eats dumplings - he knows it well.He knew that some people disapproved of him, and when Chiang Kai-shek mentioned it, he understood it, so he nodded again and again. Chiang Kai-shek also said: "If you had reorganized your troops well back then, how could you have led to a disastrous defeat? Now, many troops are short of food, clothing, and soldiers. There are many difficulties and a lot of ideological problems. You must solve them seriously and not repeat the same mistakes. .You have to send someone to conduct an inspection of all the troops quickly, and make up for what is lacking." Tang Enbo lowered his head, thinking to himself, easier said than done! The pretext of war is lack of staffing, and the leader's salary is falsely reported. This is a bad habit for many years. The king and I can't do anything about it. Can I change it?Thinking of this, he muttered, "The Seventy-Fourth Army has been wiped out by the Communists three times. The first was the Battle of Menglianggu, the second was the Battle of Xubang, and the third was the Battle of Songhu. This time The commander of the new Seventy-Fourth Army sent people to collect their salaries. The reported number of people was 10,000. How is this possible? If we want to check, they must play old tricks, borrowing people from other troops or bringing ordinary people to fill in个数。 Forewarned is forearmed, without prejudging the waste.
