Chapter 1 foreword

This book is the second in the series "Legend of Tiger Generals of the People's Army". The Second Field Army was reorganized and established by the Eighth Route Army and local armed forces that fought in the border areas of Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Jiangsu and other provinces during the Anti-Japanese War.This field army started with less than 300,000 people, but by the time Tibet was liberated in May 1950, it had grown to 1.2 million. Commensurate with the impressive results of this field army, this field army has also emerged some well-known generals in the history of Chinese warfare.Liu Bocheng, commander of the Second Field Army, is a well-known military strategist at home and abroad. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he was awarded the rank of Marshal as he deserved.Among the ten generals of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, there are two in Erye (Chen Geng and Wang Shusheng). When the whole army was awarded the title for the first time, the second field also had 8 generals and 27 lieutenant generals, and the entire second field army had a total of 247 generals.

The Liberation War fought on the land of China in the late 1940s was the largest war in Chinese history. The huge manpower and material resources invested by the opposing sides, the vastness of the battlefield, and the fierceness of the battle are also rare in the history of human warfare.Affected by factors such as geography, opponents, time, and weapons, every campaign and every field army during the War of Liberation had its own characteristics. As for the Second Field Army, in the magnificent Liberation War, it galloped across the Central Plains, stood alone, shouldered heavy responsibilities several times, and acted as a pioneer; it went down the Taihang, crossed the Yellow River, and advanced into the Dabie Mountains, unveiling the strategic counter-offensive of the People's Liberation War. The prelude to the war reversed the entire war situation; it fought fiercely in Huaihai, crossed the Yangtze River, advanced into the southwest, liberated Tibet, and planted the five-star red flag on the Himalayas all the way, making immortal contributions to the integrity of China's territorial sovereignty.

The bloody and intense war environment has tempered the Erye capital team and also tempered the Erye soldiers.Compared with the tiger generals in several other field armies, the characteristics of "tenacity" and "tenacity" of the second field tiger generals are very distinct. In the war of annihilating the enemy, the tiger generals of Erye gave the Kuomintang generals a taste of toughness; in the later War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, the tiger generals of Erye let the arrogant American soldiers appreciate the tenacious power. The tiger generals in the Second Field Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the war masterpieces they completed have been written down and left in the book of war forever.

Due to the limited space of this book, and the incomplete collection of relevant information on some generals, we can only select 10 of the 247 generals in the Second Field to describe them. As for the other generals in the Second Field who can be called tiger generals, we can only temporarily cut them off and keep them as I will introduce it later. Even so, the description of the 10 generals of Erye can only be a brief summary of the most glorious part of their military career, and some omissions and partings are inevitable. In the short tens of thousands of words, the author tries to highlight the distinctive personalities and legendary stories of the tiger generals through one or a few points.

It is the unremitting pursuit of the author and editor to let the heroic images of the tiger generals live in people's hearts, and we will continue to work hard for it!
