Home Categories war military The 40 major battles in which the People's Liberation Army swept thousands of troops
In this campaign, the Northwest People's Liberation Army alternately covered and fought in a frontal area of about 180 miles and a depth of about 130 miles, forcing Hu Jun to only advance an average of more than 20 miles a day, which greatly delayed its offensive actions and thus guaranteed the protection of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. , The Central Military Commission worked normally, and completed the task of covering the transfer of organs and masses in Yan'an.Smashed the Chiang Kai-shek Group's conspiracy to eliminate the CCP Central Committee and the People's Liberation Army Headquarters, successively wiped out the enemy's reorganized 1st, 17th, 27th, 36th, 76th, and 90th divisions, captured more than 1,220 enemies, and killed 4,000 More than 5,220 enemies were wiped out.The Yan'an defense battle played a very important role in countering the key attacks launched by the Kuomintang army on the liberated areas.

This campaign is called the "Battle of Yan'an" in the history of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. In fact, Mao Zedong had no intention of "defending Yan'an" from the beginning, but had already made preparations to "withdraw from Yan'an". The result of the battle was not that Mao Zedong and Peng Dehuai defended Yan'an to the death, but that Chiang Kai-shek and Hu Zongnan entered and occupied Yan'an. Just as Mao Zedong predicted when he met the cadres of the new 4th brigade and regiment in Wangjiaping, this became the most proud "victory" of Chiang Kai-shek's Kuomintang reactionaries .

This is actually an example created by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Central Military Commission by organically combining self-preservation with destroying the enemy. After deciding to withdraw from Yan'an, the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China notified other strategic regions of the battle situation in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region, pointing out that "even if Yan'an falls, it will not be a threat" given the successive victories in other battlefields. "With the vast area of the border area, the dangerous terrain, and the kindness of the people, we are sure to restrain the Hu army and gradually weaken it, keep the vast area in our hands, and win the battle in the area." On the 19th, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China pointed out in its instructions to the bureaus of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the sub-bureaus of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China: "Although we have lost some losses in Yan'an", "our army will move more freely, and the chances of destroying the enemy separately will also increase."At the same time, "if most of the Hu enemies can be attracted to Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia and attacked and eliminated, it will be convenient for other liberated areas to attack and eliminate the enemy and restore lost ground."
