Chapter 60 The writing background of "Recalling Qin'e Loushanguan" [1]

(May 1962) I did some research on the poem "Loushanguan", and I thought it would take a day to write.Later, I felt that it was wrong. I was writing twice, once in the first column and once in the second column.I once expressed my opinion at the Guangzhou Literature and Art Symposium [2], advocating the latter (writing twice) and denying the former (writing for one day), but I was wrong. This is what the author [3] told me.After the Party's Zunyi Conference in January 1935, the Red Army attacked Loushan Pass[4] for the first time, and was victorious. They attempted to pass through southern Sichuan, cross the river northward, enter western Sichuan, take Chengdu directly, and defeat Liu Xiang[5]. , and established a base in western Sichuan. However, things backfired and encountered heavy resistance from the Sichuan Army. The Red Army headed west from Loushanguan, passing through Gulin and Gusong counties to a place at the junction of the three provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou, called the "Three Provinces of Jiming".The Political Bureau of the Central Committee held a meeting and immediately decided to follow the same route to counterattack Zunyi, taking the enemy by surprise and returning the carbine. This was February of that year.At a location tens of miles away from Loushan Pass, we set off early in the morning, and there was still the moon, and arrived at Loushan Pass at two or three in the afternoon. We conquered the first battle and wiped out a division of the enemy army.Taking advantage of the victory, he went straight to catch up, fought in Zunyi at night, and wiped out another division of the enemy army.In this campaign, two enemy divisions were wiped out and Zunyi was regained. The words were written later. I walked more than a hundred miles that day and commanded the battle. How could I have the time and energy to hum the words? There are many provinces in the south where there is no snow in winter, or there has been no snow for many years, but only frost. Geese, the dawn is not very cold, just like the late autumn in the north, Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan provinces are like this. According to the author, the two sentences "Cangshan is like the sea, and the setting sun is like blood" are based on the observation of the scenery accumulated for many years during the war. These two sentences for success. From this point of view, what I said at the Guangzhou symposium was actually wrong. This shows the difficulty of solving poetry.

Published according to Mao Zedong's manuscript. -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ note [1] In 1962, "People's Literature" was preparing to publish six poems by Mao Zedong in the May issue. Guo Moruo wrote the article "Happy Reading Chairman Mao's Six Poems" on May 1.On May 9, Guo Moruo sent the proof of this article to Mao Zedong for review and revision. After reading it, Mao Zedong deleted all the paragraphs about the writing background of "Recalling Qin'e Loushanguan" in this article, and rewrote the text of this article.

[2] Refers to the poetry symposium held in Guangzhou in early February 1962. [3] Refers to Mao Zedong. [4] There used to be a saying that the Zunyi Conference was held on January 9, 1935.Later, after textual research, it was determined that the Zunyi Conference was held from January 15th to 17th, 1935.In this way, the first time the Central Red Army attacked Loushan Pass should be before the Zunyi Conference, not after the Zunyi Conference. [5] Liu Xiang (1888-1938), a native of Dayi, Sichuan. In 1933, he served as the commander-in-chief of the "Bandit Suppression" General Headquarters of the Kuomintang Army in Sichuan. In 1934, he also served as the chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Government of the Kuomintang.
