book and you 毛姆 377Words 2018-03-18
Now, let's skip a few years and look at three novels in nineteenth-century Russia: Turgenev's, Tolstoy's, and Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov. The least important of these three writers is Turgenev, but he is an artist who captures the poetry of life with delicacy and sensitivity. His works are charming, sympathetic and full of humanity. They may not touch the readers very much, but they will never make people feel bored. It is Turgenev's most successful novel. In this book, he paints for the first time a nihilist who is arguably the forerunner of today's communists. Strangely, some of the qualities of the protagonist Bazarov also appear in those politicians who have brought catastrophe to the present world or opened a new chapter.Bazarov is brutal, but oddly enough he touches the heart and resonates with the reader. His strength is evident, and although he has had no chance to act and has spent too much talking, you believe that, given the right time and place, he will be able to carry out the things that his bold and fearless mind has outlined. His greatness is dark and Boren sympathetic.
