Let's take a look at the experience of Sandra Cook (Sandra Cook). In 2002, Sandra quit her respectable job at Motorola in order to go to Afghanistan without any worries.With Afghanistan in ruins after the war broke out, Sandra wanted to do something to help.She applied for a visa, bought a plane ticket, and flew to Afghanistan, hoping that her life would be different.After the plane landed at Kabul Airport, Sandra stepped off the plane and found that there were no taxis in the city and the infrastructure was pitiful.She struggled to find a hotel frequented by journalists from all over the world, re-established her social connections, and hoped she could help rebuild the country.She volunteers to write sponsorship applications, draw up business plans, even sweep floors—anything that helps her.

Sandra finally got in touch with Nancy Dupree.Nancy was the director of the Afghanistan Center at Kabul University at the time. In order to rebuild the university library so that as many people as possible could read books through their small mobile library system (Box Library Extension), Nancy Work tirelessly.After they got to know each other better, Sandra wrote a business plan for the center, which led to her being placed on the agency's board of directors.Today, she is vice-chairman of the board and spends most of her time raising awareness and raising funds for the institution.In addition to her work, Sandra is active in grassroots programs in Afghanistan, such as distributing pomegranate seeds in Kabul.She personally paid for 20,000 saplings and distributed them to the residents for planting, hoping to restore the trees destroyed by the war.
