Chapter 46 what are we and where do we go

When the classification of our knowledge is not clear, most knowledge, including philosophy, art, science, etc., is included in the religious system. At that time, temples and churches were the only schools; the preachers were the enlighteners, who not only spread the knowledge of God, the knowledge of love, but also the knowledge of medicine and production. However, all knowledge has only one core, which is to answer the question of why people are people. Why are people people? What is the relationship with God?How is it different from animals? For thousands of years, countless sages have discussed repeatedly, and finally set us up from the aspects of spirituality, creativity close to great progress, love for the happiness of the majority, rational decision-making and emotional drive. The reason why is the definition of being human. In fact, the ultimate belief we have acquired is a definition of human beings themselves. In this great, ultimate faith, what we are is answered; where I came from and where I am going is explained. We are no longer confused, and we have a clear life. Only then can we face life with peace of mind and have happiness.

But we often forget the nature of our beliefs and fall into superstition. We may be superstitious about canons and become dogmatists; we may be superstitious about idols and become idolaters.Science is by far the most rational thinking category, a pioneer to break dogma, and a sharp tool to seek the mystery of the infinite universe, but it may also become a new superstition. There are traditional superstitions as well as modern superstitions. In essence, people have gone astray on the road of belief, making themselves confused and ignorant, and hiding their hearts from themselves. In fact, there is only one truth. Whether we are on the path of faith or science, as long as our direction is correct, we will always meet in front of the truth. But if there is a problem with the direction, no matter whether we are on the path of science or faith, we will not be able to recognize the truth, nor will we be able to reach the truth.Faith and science are both pursuing truth in essence, and the two should not be contradictory. If there is a contradiction between them, it must be that one party is at fault, or even both parties have made a mistake in the direction and have fallen into superstition. Therefore, going astray on the road of faith will produce superstition, and going astray on the road of science will also produce superstition, and the process of seeking truth is actually the process of each of us constantly breaking superstition.

Our generation is more influenced by science than faith, and sometimes one-sided emphasis on the power of science can also bring us superstition. This kind of superstition is more superstitious than belief, and it is more harmful. Its performance is like a blind man groping an elephant, only understanding and acknowledging what he already knows and limited things, lacking knowledge of unknown areas and infinite things, and lacking an attitude of awe and exploration.Such an attitude is itself contrary to science.
