阿波罗。即太阳神。全名为福玻斯。阿波罗，形象俊美优雅，弓箭和里拉竖琴都是他征服人类的武器。
阿斯克拉。古希腊大诗人赫西俄度斯的故乡。
格丽奥。缪斯之一，主管历史。
轻盈的细带指维纳斯腰间的带子，在古希腊时期具有极其重要的象征意义。当时的女子结婚时都要织一条类似的带子献给维纳斯的神庙。在她们即将结婚时，为了赎买贞操权利，还必须到爱神的神庙献身服务。因此女神轻盈的细带既象征一种绝对的诱惑，也表示贞操的丧失。
爱情女神维纳斯是宙斯与大海女神之一狄俄涅的女儿，即希腊神话中的阿佛洛狄特。是古希腊性爱与美貌之女神。她的图腾崇拜很多，是所有追逐浪漫爱情的人的梦想。
宙斯的儿子阿波罗是形象最希腊化的男子，俊美优雅。作为真理之神，他从小生活在宙斯的关怀中，身边围绕着众多女神，居住在最幸福的底罗斯岛。
珀耳修斯。希腊著名英雄，主神宙斯与达那厄所生之子。
安德洛墨达。埃塞俄比亚公主，珀耳修斯之妻。在埃塞俄比亚的海边，珀耳修斯杀死妖怪，解救了即将成为牺牲品的安德洛墨达公主，最终赢得美人。
弗里基阿人。弗里基阿人指特洛伊王子帕里斯，因诱拐斯巴达王后海伦而导致十年特洛伊战争。希腊女子即指美女海伦。

在珀琉斯和忒提斯结婚时，大宴诸神，唯独没有请司不和的女神厄里斯，厄里斯大怒，将一个上面刻着“给最美者”字样的金苹果投在席上，于是维纳斯、赫拉、雅典娜三位女神便相争这金苹果，因为她们都以为自己是最美丽者。主神宙斯派使者赫耳墨斯引领三位女神到帕里斯那里去，由帕里斯评定谁最美。帕里斯把金苹果交给了维纳斯，因为她许他得到最美丽的妻子。后来帕里斯航海到希腊诱得海伦，引发了特洛伊战争。
苹果在古希腊是爱情、婚姻和青春的象征，一直流传到今天。基督教中的夏娃也是受到蛇的引诱偷吃了伊甸园中的苹果而被逐出伊甸园。在希腊神话中，它是引起长达十年的特洛伊战争的根源。
狄安娜是罗马神话中的月神和狩猎女神。她是一个独身女神，即等于希腊神话上的阿耳忒弥斯。她的神殿在阿利启亚，离罗马城二十五公里的拉丁姆的小城，在阿尔巴奴思山下，一个名叫第阿娜镜的湖畔。神殿的祭司名叫“树林之王”，要得到这祭师之职，必须要决斗死前任的祭师。
拔页。纳泊尔湾中的一座城，以矿泉著名。罗马人在那里筑了许多华丽的浴场。

阿特柔斯的儿子。指希腊统帅阿伽门侬，荷马史诗中的重要人物，特洛伊战争中希腊军的主将，还国后为她的不忠诚的妻子克吕泰涅斯特拉和她的情人埃癸斯托斯所谋杀。
尼普顿。海神，等于希腊神话上的波塞冬。波塞冬与宙斯和冥王普路同是三个兄弟，共同主宰着整个宇宙。波塞冬性格古怪，是人类对神秘大海的图腾崇拜和比喻。
爱费拉。高林都斯的古名，是希腊的一座城。
格劳刻。高林都斯的公主，伊阿宋的妻子。

美狄亚是伊阿宋的前妻，是一个魔女。她帮助伊阿宋取金羊毛，后来伊阿宋爱上了克瑞翁的女儿格劳刻，她很妒怒，送了一个匣子给格劳刻，这匣子飞出火烧死了格劳刻和其子。同时，美狄亚把自己和伊阿宋所生的孩子也杀死了。
美狄亚是希腊神话中著名的女巫师，是太阳神赫利俄斯的孙女。作为太阳神的后代，美狄亚拥有太阳般的激情。在她身上，发生着极端的爱与恨、生与死、忠诚与背叛。她和伊阿宋的爱情故事体现了她刚烈的美感。
希腊的英雄们藏在木马中被运进了特洛伊城。入夜，英雄们从木马中搭着梯子下来，特洛伊因此而陷落。木马计是奥德修斯的功劳，特洛伊战争及木马计在西方众人皆知。特洛伊木马一词在西方演变为“为消灭敌人而送的礼物”的同义词。千万个特洛伊人拉着装满希腊士兵的木马进入城中，场面热烈而激动。
宙斯是希腊神话中的主神，他主宰着所有人的命运。他端坐在奥林匹斯山上，用他的反复无常的性格左右着特洛伊战争。
维纳斯欢喜紧接她的爱人玛尔斯的日子。指维纳斯节日，在四月一日，当然是紧接三月。玛尔斯是维纳斯恋人之一。
百莱阿代斯。七星，这里是指七星落时，十一月八日至十一日，是时常有风暴的。
温柔的山羊沉到大洋中去了。指十月之初。
阿里阿。拉丁姆地方的一条河，纪元前三百八十九年，罗马人在那里为迦里阿人所打败。
年迈的特洛伊王普里阿摩斯失去了他最英勇的儿子赫克托耳，无限悲伤的请求阿喀琉斯归还儿子的尸体。面对老人的请求，英雄阿喀琉斯也生出了怜悯之情。
普里阿摩斯。特洛伊王，赫克托尔之父，事迹见《伊里亚特》。
绮第佩是一个雅典女子，在她的脚下，阿工谛乌斯掷了一个苹果，上面写着：“我凭阿耳忒弥斯宣誓，我将嫁阿工谛乌斯。”绮第佩高声宣读，于是被女神执为阿工谛乌斯的质言。
特洛伊战争过后，奥德修斯和他的战士们为了返回故乡，经过了长达十年的海上漂流。根据荷马史诗《奥德赛》的描述，奥德修斯是有时以来第一位地中海的旅行者。他在旅行中的传奇经历，使“奥德赛”一词成为一个重要的象征，以此来形容一段曲折而壮观的生活历程。
珀涅罗珀。是奥德修斯的妻子，以贞洁坚忍出名，在奥德修斯返乡漂流的十年中，一直坚定的等待着奥德修斯的归来。
拜尔迦摩斯。特洛伊的城砦。
当希腊人已经集结战舰准备开赴特洛伊，全希腊的人都响应号召，所有的王子都要参加讨伐特洛伊的战争，奥德修斯却不愿离开年轻的妻子珀涅罗珀参战。当他看到帕拉墨得斯带着斯巴达国王前来访问他时，就假装发疯，驾了一头驴子去耕地，把盐当做种子撒在田里，被绝顶聪明的帕拉墨得斯识破，奥德修斯无法再拒绝参战。经过了十年的漂流，奥德修斯终于回到了自己的家乡。他的船只停留在港口，他的家中却拥挤着众多企图得到他财产的求婚者，宫殿里一片混乱。而他的王后，美丽贞洁的珀涅罗珀已经很难掌管宫廷。为了应付众多的求婚者，珀涅罗珀只好在房里支起一架织布机，以织好一件衣服为借口拖延等待丈夫归来的时间。
在奥德修斯漂流的途中，遇到了单眼巨人和海妖西兰；也遇到了眷恋他的仙女善良美丽的喀耳刻和卡吕普索。留在宫廷中等待他的珀涅罗珀也被众多的求婚者包围着。
传说海妖西兰能用消魂蚀骨的歌声诱惑水手，令他们产生无法抑制的渴望而上岸。奥德修斯在漂流途中也经历了她们歌声的引诱。
拟曲伶人。在拟曲中，少女的角色是男子扮的。
启倍莱虞斯山的女神的教士。启倍莱虞斯，是弗里基阿的一座山的名字。启倍莱虞斯山的女神是库柏勒，是弗里基阿人的女神，后为罗马人所崇奉；她的教士是被阉割过的。
弥诺斯的女儿。指阿里阿德涅，是弥诺斯和帕西淮的女儿，用丝线帮助忒修斯杀弥诺陶洛斯逃出迷宫，后被忒修斯所弃，遂为酒神巴克斯所恋。
一个女神的心。这里女神指维纳斯。
利倍尔。一个古意大利的神祗，后来和罗马神话中的巴克斯相混，此处即指巴克斯。
那克索斯的孩子。指阿里阿德涅，因为住在那克索斯，故云。
第阿。那克索斯的一个小岛。
阿里阿德涅帮助忒修斯逃出克里特岛。一个晚上，酒神巴克斯在忒修斯的梦中现身，声称阿里阿德涅是命运女神安排给自己的妻子。忒修斯为遵从神祗，避免巴克斯的嫉恨，将阿里阿德涅公主留在了寂寞的荒岛上。当天夜里，酒神巴克斯将阿里阿德涅公主带到了德里沃斯山。狂欢之神从此与智慧女神结合在一起。
迷宫线团
米诺特罗斯是海神波塞冬驾前海牛的儿子，一直被困在代达罗斯的迷宫里。忒修斯为制服米诺特罗斯到阿波罗神庙献祭，以求保护。神谕指引他选择爱情女神作他的向导，以祈求她的保护，忒修斯不明白其中的深意，但仍然向维纳斯神庙进行了献祭。当他在克里特登陆，被带去参见米诺斯国王时，美丽的阿里阿德涅公主立刻爱上了他，并交给他一个线团，指引他顺着丝线原路返回，走出代达罗斯建造的令人困惑的迷宫。“阿里阿德涅线团”因此成为解脱困境的象征。
迷玛洛尼黛斯。是跳神诸女的别称。
萨堤罗斯。是巴克斯的伴侣，头发竖起，两只尖耳长在头上，额上生着两只小角，脚象羊脚一样，手里或是拿着一只酒杯，或是一枝松球杖，或是一件乐器。
西勒诺斯。巴克斯的保护人和随从，秃顶，骑驴，老是喝醉着。
曷许斯。曷许斯是巴克斯的别名：“曷荷艾”是跳神诸女的欢呼声。
夜的神祗。指酒神巴克斯。
酒神个人表征是葡萄藤冠、顶端有松果的手杖和一种叫坎撒洛斯的双耳大酒杯。
酒神与狂欢之神巴克斯是宙斯与塞墨勒的儿子，卡得摩斯的外孙，出生于底比斯。他是果实之神，也是第一个发现葡萄的神。对酒神的崇拜应上溯到希腊时期以前的米诺斯的自然宗教并长期盛行于小亚细亚。在古希腊，人们相信他有预言的才能，所以将他与阿波罗同等对待。在古希腊和罗马时期，崇拜酒神的方式是在节日里痛饮、放纵和狂欢。对酒神带有强烈狂欢气息的崇拜代表了西方文化感性的一面，与阿波罗所象征的理性精神相辅相成，又互为对抗。
