Chapter 3 Reading experience

In the imperial era in Chinese history, the bureaucratic group was extremely eye-catching.This social group has monopolized violence, mastered the law, and controlled huge human and material resources. Its actions determine the fate of society to a large extent. For this group that is good at writing and writing, we have to set aside its self-boasting and grandiose confession to discover its true colors. After contemplating historical figures and events, I found that what governed the group's behavior was often far removed from the principles they professed to follow. For example, benevolence and morality, loyalty to the emperor and love for the people, integrity and honesty, etc. What really governs the behavior of this group is, to a greater extent, a very realistic calculation of stakes. The result of this calculation of interests and the choice of seeking advantages and avoiding disadvantages, the repeated occurrence and long-term stability of such results and choices clearly constitute a set of potential rules, forming a lot of internal and inter-group dealings. It is an unspoken rule that has been followed for a long time. These are some unwritten but very binding rules.I can't find a suitable term, let's call it unspoken rules.

There are many levels and aspects of unspoken rules within the officialdom. I want to write a "elimination of honest officials" first. This law of "eliminating upright officials" involves many factors, and it cannot be explained thoroughly in one or two short articles. I want to break it down and talk about it slowly. How many articles can explain clearly, I am not sure, maybe four or five articles, maybe seven or eight articles. Reading history is just my hobby, and I dare not pretend to be an expert. What I have written are all thoughts that came to me when I was studying history, and it is very likely that I will laugh at them generously. But I'm willing to make a fool of myself. It is very fortunate to be able to publish it indiscriminately, and to read it indiscriminately.
