Chapter 22 Chapter Twenty Two

push ups. Before we move on to the next parchment, let's think about this for a moment. If you were on your stomach, right now, how many push-ups could you do?Six, ten, twelve?Let's say ten.I'll do it in two weeks, how many?Maybe ten more. However, if you do ten today, do it tomorrow, and continue the day after tomorrow until two weeks later, how many can you do?It could be thirty, forty, fifty, or more. Why? Because the muscles in your shoulders and arms are strengthened by daily practice. You keep tweaking them, adapting them to gradually increasing intensity each day. It's a breeze to add a little time each day to adding a push-up or two to your routine.Added up, it is quite impressive. This is just a simple example. In fact, you are a miracle of nature. The same laws that apply to the muscles in your shoulders apply to your mind. You mobilize it now to do something that seems unthinkable at the moment.

Are you ready? Well, let's review the first sheepskin first. Then, start on Monday with a new plan.During the time between waking up and going to work, you have to look at the second parchment.Around noon, read it again, which means you have to take it with you, put it in your briefcase, or in the car. Before bed at night, read it again, this time reading it aloud. You may have to explain this move to your family, they know it's for your own good and will support you. At the back of the second volume, you will see the success record form, which is enough for you to fill in for five weeks. Its purpose is to help you follow the provisions of the first volume, read, think, and put it into action within 30 days.

These success sheets are purposefully designed to enable you to check yourself in on a daily basis, as Frank did. These forms will help you succinctly summarize your daily actions, recording the day's virtues, qualities, good habits, and willpower to stick to the plan. When you finish your first day of work, write the date in the "Monday" column of the success record form. Then write in a specific column how many times you read the parchment that day (hopefully three times). Finally, review the key passages of this volume, and then think about whether you have acted according to the principles in the volume after waking up.Rate yourself on a scale of 1 for "Poor", 2 for "Good", 3 for "Very Good", and 4 for "Excellent".Be honest with yourself.Fill in the score in the box.The number obtained by adding the scores in these two boxes is the total score for the day.Scores of up to 7 may be possible, and these scores will document your effort and progress.

So continue for the remaining four working days. Then add up the total for the week and fill it out.Stick to this for five weeks, and then you can move on to a new parchment. simple right? I tell you a secret.Because of simplicity, many people give up halfway, and they always value complicated or expensive things. These guys certainly can't do a lot of push-ups either -- if that's what we're planning to do.So if anyone is going to drop out of the program, let them be.Their lives will also be spent in mediocrity. After the first few weeks, you will notice a gradual change in how you approach people. You start hearing people say to you, "You seem a little different lately." "You're not the same as you used to be."

These are signs that the parchments and success sheets are at work. You have subconsciously developed a new personality that will structure your future life. You are already on your way to the new year. Now is the first week. Before you start this crucial day in your life, I have a word of encouragement for you: "Failure will never get you down as long as you are determined to succeed." Now please go back and read the second parchment. Love is never lost.Even if there is no return, it will flow back to your heart, warm and purify your soul. --Washington Irving It is our duty to love others, even those who have hurt us.
