Chapter 349 349

Emile 卢梭 239Words 2018-03-18
"It is wrong to divide desires into desires that can be produced and those that cannot be produced, so that we can pursue what can be produced and reject what cannot be produced. All desires are similar. As long as we are the master and can control them, They are good, but if we surrender to our desires, they are all bad. Nature does not allow us to expand our desires beyond our ability, reason forbids us to pursue things that we cannot get at all, and conscience does not allow us to be Temptation, but not allowing us to give in to temptation. Whether we have desires is not something we can control, but we can control ourselves. Any kind of desire that is under our control is natural, and those desires that control us, will become evil."
