Dale Carnegie, known as the greatest life mentor in the 20th century, wrote, "Lincoln Biography", "A Wonderful Life", "Great People", and many other works in his life. These books constitute Carnegie's success system of how to conduct oneself in the world and lead to success, complementing his adult education training courses, changing the traditional way of adult education and affecting the lives of millions of people. Carnegie was born on November 24, 1888 in a poor peasant family in Missouri, USA.He is a simple farm boy, and his childhood was no different from other boys in the rural Midwest of the United States. He helped his parents with chores and milked cows, even though he was poor. This may be because he does not feel that his family is poor at all.In the era when there was no agricultural machinery, he and his father did the same heavy physical work, but a year's hard work might go to waste due to a flood, or be dried up by the scorching sun, or fed to locusts.Carnegie saw his father tortured by these never-ending toils, and vowed never to gamble his life with the weather or the harvest.

If anything, Carnegie's childhood was different from that of other rural boys, it was mainly because of his mother's strong influence.A devout Christian, she worked as a teacher before marrying Carnegie's father. She encouraged Carnegie to get an education, and her dream was for her son to be a missionary or teacher in the future. In 1904, after graduating from high school, Carnegie attended Wallensburg State Teachers College in Missouri.Although he received a full scholarship, due to the poverty of his family, he had to participate in various jobs to earn the necessary study expenses. This made him feel ashamed and developed an inferiority complex. Therefore, he wanted to find a shortcut to get ahead.

In schools, people of special influence and prestige range from baseball players to those who win debates and speeches.Knowing that he did not have the talent of an athlete, he was determined to win the speech contest. He spent months practicing speeches, failing again and again. The disappointment and discouragement brought by his failure even made him think about suicide. In the second year, however, he started winning. At the time, his goal was to get a degree and a teaching certificate so he could teach in schools in his hometown. However, Carnegie did not teach after graduation. He went to Denver, where the headquarters of the International Correspondence School is located, to work as a salesman for the school. The salary was $2 a day.

Carnegie, despite his best efforts, was not very successful, so he switched to marketing meat products. In order to find this kind of work, he watered and fed a rancher's horses for free along the way, hitchhiked to Omaha, and became a salesman, earning $17.31 a week, which was more than his father's annual salary. The income is even higher. Although Carnegie's promotion was very successful, and his results jumped from the 25th in his area to the first, he refused to be promoted to the manager, but came to New York with the money he had saved and became an actor. As an actor, Carnegie's only appearance was a role in the play "Bao Li in the Circus".After a year of traveling in this play, Carnegie decided that there was no future for him in the theatre, so he returned to sales, selling cars for a car company.

But being a salesman was not Carnegie's ideal. When it came to selling cars, he had doubts about his abilities. One day, an old man wanted to buy a car, and Carnegie recited the "Car Sutra" again. The old man said lightly: "It doesn't matter, I can still walk, and driving is just a taste of something new, because when I was young, I dreamed of becoming a car designer, and there was no car at that time..." The words of the old man gradually attracted Carnegie. He discussed the company's situation with the old man in detail, and then the topic turned to their lives.Carnegie described his recent troubles: "In the early morning, facing a lonely lamp, I said to myself, what am I doing, what is my dream, if I want to be a writer, why not write? What do you think? Am I right?"

"Good boy, it's great!" A relaxed smile appeared on the old man's face, and he continued: "Why do you work for a company that you don't care about and can't pay you a high salary? Don't you want to make a lot of money? Writing, today It’s a good job too!” "No, old sir, it's impossible to give up my job unless I have something else to do. But what can I do? What are my abilities to earn and live to my satisfaction?" Carnegie asked. The old man said: "Your career should be able to make you interested and give full play to your talents. Since writing is very suitable for you, why not give it a try?"

This made Carnegie Mose suddenly realized. The writing passion buried in the chest for a long time was activated by a few words of the old man. From that day on, Carnegie decided to change his life.He wants to be a great writer who is respected and loved... By chance, Carnegie found that the youth association in his city was recruiting a night teacher who taught business skills. So he applied for the job and was hired. Carnegie's public speaking courses include not only the history of speeches, but also the principles of speeches. In addition to this, he has invented a unique and very effective way of teaching.

When he taught the students for the first time, he directly called the students to talk about themselves and told everyone what happened in their daily life. After one student finished speaking, another student stood up and spoke, and then asked other students to stand up and speak. In this way, until every student in the class has delivered a short talk.Carnegie later said: "When I didn't know what to do, I made a mistake and found the best way to help students overcome their fear." Since then, Carnegie's teaching method that encourages all students to participate together has become The most effective way to stimulate student interest and ensure student attendance. While this approach was unprecedented at the time, and there is no way to measure the effectiveness of his approach, it has worked and has produced more vocal and confident people around the world.

The success of this philosophy can be seen in the letters written by thousands of graduates. The students who wrote these letters included factory workers, housewives, politicians, business executives, teachers and missionaries, and their careers ranged from all walks of life. Carnegie died on November 1, 1955, just a few weeks before he was 67.A memorial service was held in Forest Hills, where he was buried near his parents in Missouri. On November 3, 1955, a Washington newspaper published the following: "Those cynics used to speculate what would happen if everyone accepted and did what Carnegie said? Mr. Carnegie on Tuesday Dead, he never disdained the sarcastic comments of these worldly people. He knew what he did, and he did it very well. In his books and courses, he tried to teach ordinary people to overcome feelings of incompetence, how to speak, how to To be human."

"Thousands of people have been influenced by him. His philosophies are as old as civilization and as simple as the 'Ten Commandments', but they are extremely helpful for people to achieve happiness and achievement in this frantic age."
