Qifu Chipan is the eldest son of Qifu Qiangui.Qifu Qiangui's army was dispersed by Yao Xingjun and surrendered to Yao Xing. Soon after Qifu Chipan also ran from Xiping (now Xining City, Qinghai) to Chang'an, he was named General Zhenzhong and Taishou of Xingjin by Yao Xing, and led troops to garrison Yuan Chuan.In the first year of Gengshi (409 A.D.), Gangui fled from Chang'an and returned to Yuanchuan to proclaim himself emperor again, and Chipan was established as the prince.In the third year of Gengshi (AD 411), Gangui was killed by his nephew Gongfu, and Chi Pan succeeded to the throne and changed his Yuan to Yongkang.After Qifu Chipan succeeded to the throne, he wanted to expand his power, so he started to launch wars every year from the second year of his succession to plunder people and livestock.Later, due to successive years of fighting, he became ill from overwork and died of illness in May of the ninth year of Jianhong (AD 428).
