Chapter 9 Chapter 9 Hou Yi: More Than a Legend

The land of China with a long history has many magical and beautiful legends, the most amazing and beautiful of which should be the myths and stories of ancient times, such as Pangu opening up the sky, Nuwa mending the sky, Kuafu chasing the sun, Jingwei reclamation, Houyi shooting day, wait.Among the heroes of these myths, Hou Yi is essentially different from others, because he is not only a legendary figure, but also a historical figure. The legendary Hou Yi was created based on the historical Yi as the prototype. Historically, Yi lived in the early Xia Dynasty four thousand years ago. At the beginning, he was the leader of a large tribe in the lower reaches of the Majia River (now north of Dezhou, Shandong Province) in the Dongyi area (the central area is in today’s Shandong Province). A well-known sharpshooter, he soon became the leader of the Dongyi tribe by virtue of his own ability.

The reigning King Xia at that time was Taikang, the grandson of Dayu and the son of Xia Qi, the founder of the Xia Dynasty.Taikang indulged in pleasure and disregarded the life and death of the people, which aroused people's dissatisfaction. Therefore, Yi moved at the right time to overthrow Taikang's rule by force and took control of the country. Taikang's younger brother Zhongkang was established as King Xia in name. Although Yi was not a pampered and extravagant person, his interest in hunting and recreation continued unabated after he took power, which affected his management of state affairs, and power gradually fell into the hands of Minister Han Yun.

Finally one day, disaster struck. The ambitious and ruthless Han Yun killed Yi and his son. After Yi's death, Zhongkang, who was established by Yi as the King of Xia, became a pawn in the hands of the ambitious Han Yun.Due to the complete loss of freedom of action, Zhongkang was depressed, his health deteriorated, and he died soon. Han Yun let Zhongkang's son inherit the throne. Xiang is unwilling to continue being a puppet like his father, and finds an opportunity to escape from the palace, but is unfortunately caught up and killed by Han Yun's son Guo Jiao. The prime minister's wife, Hou Min, was pregnant at this time, and the power of mother's love helped her escape from Guo Piao's hunt, and sneaked out from the hole in the wall.At Houmin's natal family, Youzheng, she gave birth to a son named Shaokang.

Later, with the support of the people, Shaokang captured Anyi, the capital of the Xia Dynasty, killed Guojiao (at this time, Han Yun was dead), and the world returned to Dayu's descendants. This is the historical "Shaokang" Rehabilitation country" or "Shaokang Zhongxing". The reason why it is said that Hou Yi is not only a legend is not only because his historical prototype Yi is part of the history of "Shaohe country", but also there are still relics left by him in the current world. In today's lower reaches of the Majia River in the north of Shandong, there are three ancient "mounds" from east to west. The easternmost one is called "Grey Tomb". It is said that it is the tomb of Yi, and the "Xiaozhongzi" in the west is said to be the tomb of his son.According to research, these three ancient "mounds" are all Longshan cultural relics four or five thousand years ago, which coincides with the time when Yi lived.
