Chapter 3 Chapter Two Through the Xuanwu Gate——The First Half of Tang History

Emperor Sui Yang went to Yangzhou, the city of Chang'an was empty, and the world lost the emperor. In the snowstorm, a towering tree in the Forbidden Garden suddenly burst into blooming flowers. After the flowers and leaves wither, the branches are covered with rotten fruits. After a few days, the trees full of red fruits turned into red nymphs flying away.Looking up at the red nymphs in the white snow, the old people in the city muttered to themselves: Does this mean that Chang'an is about to usher in a new emperor? At this time, Li Yuan left Taiyuan and was heading for Chang'an.

Look at the "Qin and Han Kingdoms in the four suburbs, the capital of eight water emperors", the magnificent Chang'an City is already faintly visible not far ahead.I imagined Li Yuan at that time in my mind, but she was always a wrinkled grandmother, unable to outline the heroic appearance of a creator.Searching through the twenty-four histories, it is difficult to find a founding emperor as dark and pale as Li Yuan.In recent years, some people have re-written the biography of Li Yuan. They believe that Li Yuan's indecisive and ignorant image has been distorted by later generations, and they want to restore his wise image of the creator. However, thousands of words can't cover up Li Yuan's lack of understanding.

In the early years of the Western Han Dynasty, Liu Bang, Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty, asked Han Xin, Marquis of Huaiyin, a question: "How can I measure?" Han Xin told him that it was only one hundred thousand.Unconvinced, Liu Bang asked this famous general how many soldiers he thought he could lead.Han Xin said without humility: "The more ministers, the better the ears." After hearing this, Liu Bang laughed and teased him: The more the better, why was I captured alive in Yunmengze? "Your Majesty cannot command soldiers, but is good at generals. This is why His Majesty captured you."

What Han Xin said is correct. The founding emperor may have no background and no heroism, but he should be well versed in the strengths and weaknesses of others and make good use of them.If you can't use the counselor Fan Zeng, the hero who "pulls the mountain with strength and surpasses the world" will also stage a tragedy of Farewell My Concubine in the predicament of being ambushed on all sides and besieged on all sides.Liu Bang, the head of the pavilion who came from a humble background, started his business by beheading a white snake. He was able to take over the world from the brave Xiang Yu and the noble-born princes and Miao descendants of the six countries, relying on his knowledge of people.Liu Bang also said later: "I am not as good as Zifang when I am strategizing and winning thousands of miles away; I am not as good as Xiao He when I govern the country, caress the people, give them money, and keep the road of food. Attack must be taken, I am not as good as Han Xin. These three people are all outstanding, I can use them, and this is why I take the world."

On the other hand, Li Yuan, his way of employing people is nothing more than four words: employing people only relatives.Around him, there is no one like Zhang Liang and Zhang Zifang. However, the Dou family left Xiao He and Han Xin for Li Yuan. When he walked into Chang'an, Li Jiancheng, the eldest son on the left, and Li Shimin, the second son on the right.Except for the appointment of his two sons, almost all of Li Yuan's employment is a failure. But the luckiest thing in his life is that he has two talented sons.Stupid nepotism, but created a big situation - the story of Chu Tang is full of comedy.

Perhaps this comedy should start when Li Jiancheng was eight years old. That year, Dou was pregnant in October. At the time of delivery, mist and thick clouds covered the sky, surrounding Li Yuan's annex.Clouds follow dragons, and tigers follow winds. People say that two dragons are chasing and playing in the lingering clouds, and they leave in three days.Is it the flying dragon that carried the Yellow Emperor to the sky to follow the footsteps of the true emperor and return to the world of mortals again?Or did the eight heavenly dragons who sang "Chengyun Song" for Zhuanxu lost a pair at some point and came to the other hall to sing old songs?Confucius once lamented that the dragon could see its head but not its tail, but the dragon that had been buried in the clouds of history quietly reappeared today, allowing people in that winter to witness the phantom wonder of the dragon wagging its tail——a baby when the dragon flew nine days outside the pavilion. Falling to the ground in the annex.

Four years later, a scholar who came and went without a trace told Li Yuan that this child "has the appearance of a dragon and a phoenix, the appearance of the sun and the sun, and he will be twenty years old, and he will surely be able to help the world and the people."Li Yuan, who kept a low profile, was afraid that such outrageous words would reach the ears of the emperor of the Sui Dynasty, but the scholar disappeared into the air and was never found again.Surprised, Li Yuan kept the scholar's prophecy in his heart, but named his child Li Shimin (Tang Taizong) with the meaning of "helping the world and calming the people".

After the Taiyuan uprising, Li Jiancheng and Li Shimin went to Xihe County. For both of them, this is the first battle in their lives. The two brothers are so in harmony. When marching, they restrained the soldiers and did not harass the people; under the city of Xihe, they did not wear armor, and checked the terrain together... Nine days later, the Li brothers captured Xihe without killing a single person, and opened the passage to Chang'an.When Li Yuan knew about it, he said happily, "Use this to use your troops in the world, and you can run rampant!" In this way, father and son embarked on a long journey. At this time, Li Jiancheng was the governor of the left-leading army, and Li Shimin was the governor of the right-leading army, shoulder to shoulder and holding hands.

Chang'an was a turning point in the fate of the Li brothers.Li Yuan made Li Jian his son and prince.According to the old adage that "the heir of the king should not be handsome", Li Jiancheng stayed in Chang'an most of the time.Li Shimin, who was appointed King of Qin, led tens of thousands of brave men under his command to win the whole world for Chang'an. Many years later, when Li Shimin built a mausoleum for himself in Jiuyi Mountain, he ordered the craftsmen to engrave the six horses that accompanied him in the four directions on the verandas on both sides with high relief.Let us point to the fragmented pattern of "Six Horses of Zhaoling" and count the story in detail.

The first formidable enemy Li Shimin met in sweeping the world was the father and son of the Xue family who ruled Xiliang.Taking advantage of Li Tang's unstable foothold in Chang'an, they set off a frenzy of attack. It was at this moment that the third horse, the white-hoofed crow on the west veranda, raised its head and glared, with all four hooves flying into the air, and stepped onto the stage of history. After two months of confrontation in Qianshuiyuan, Li Shimin saw the fighter plane and used a small amount of troops to contain it. "Jingshui is yellow, and Longye is vast." With him on his back, the White-hoofed Crow galloped for more than 200 miles day and night, chasing him fiercely, and finally forced Xue Rengao to dismount and surrender.

Liu Wuzhou and Song Jingang in the north attached themselves to the Turks and went south brazenly.Taiyuan, where Li Yuan started, soon fell.At the most critical moment, Li Shimin returned to Hedong from Guanzhong in a Telebiao. After another five months of patient stalemate, Li Shimin waited for the moment when Song Jingang's food and fodder ran out. When the enemy retreated northward in a hurry, the incomparably handsome Tellerpus broke out.It was more than 200 li day and night, and caught up with Song Jingang in the Queshu Valley. The cavalry of the Tang Dynasty fought eight times a day, did not eat for two days, and did not disarm for three days. They expelled Liu Wuzhou and Song Jingang to Turkic. In the first position of the east veranda, the white-beaked yellow horse left its vigorous posture. Li Shimin did not stop. The long sword in his hand has long been aimed at Wang Shichong, who is entrenched in Luoyang, the eastern capital. At the foot of Mang Mountain, Sa Luzi, who was as light as a purple swallow, carried him into the enemy's formation. The pursuers, like beasts smelling blood, crazily rushed towards the young King Qin from all directions.Dozens of cavalry accompanying Li Shimin had been lost in the scuffle.A stray arrow shot from nowhere hit Sa Luzi's chest. The young and energetic Li Shimin showed no fear, and under the cover of the only general, he flew back like an arrow and came back suddenly. The first relief under the west veranda records this soul-stirring moment. After Sa Luzi was killed in battle, Li Shimin replaced Shivachi under his crotch. This is a pure red horse from Persia.Judging from the third relief on the east veranda, the naked Shiva galloping in the air was hit by five arrows, but no one can stop his figure chasing the wind.Wang Shichong, who had been defeated in a row, had lost the courage to confront Li Shimin head-on, and hid behind the tall city walls of Luoyang City in embarrassment. At this time, Luoyang is like a dead leaf in the stormy sea.Wang Shichong's only hope is another hero Dou Jiande far away in Hebei.Just when Luoyang was about to go down, news of Dou Jiande finally came from afar.He sent more than 100,000 people to Luoyang to rescue Wang Shichong with Yu Wei, who had just defeated Meng Haigong. The arrival of Dou Jiande made the Tang army under the city of Luoyang face the danger of being attacked from both sides, and also made this battle a decisive battle that determined the general situation of the world.Since ancient times, the focus of competing in the world has been in the Central Plains section of the Yellow River.Whoever wins decisively here wins the whole world. To the west of this section of the Yellow River is Li Tang of Chang'an, to the south is Wang Shichong of Luoyang, and to Hebei is the Great Xia Kingdom of Dou Jiande. The three major forces gathered in the area of Luoyang in a dramatic manner. In this great drama of besieging the city and fighting for aid, and King Qin breaking the formation, let us remember the blue and white variegated green horse in the second relief sculpture under the east veranda. The main force of the Tang army stayed under the city of Luoyang, while Li Shimin led 3,500 warriors in light clothes to Hulao Pass to block Dou Jiande's 100,000 troops. After a period of stalemate, Dou Jiande's morale gradually declined.Li Shimin rode on Qingzhao, led three thousand cavalry bravely across the Sishui, and launched a thunderous attack on the enemy army dozens of times his own.Li Shimin, who rushed to the front, broke through the enemy's camp against the locust-like sharp arrows.During the charge, the "Ashigaru movie, a genius" Qing Zou was shot with five arrows head-on, but this did not stop Li Shimin from riding it to welcome the brightest moment in his life. Dou Jiande was captured, and Wang Shichong surrendered in desperation—after the First World War in Hulao, there was no suspense about who the world would belong to.Later, under the banner of avenging Dou Jiande, Liu Heita collected the old troops and raised troops against the Tang Dynasty in Hebei. But that was just an episode.Li Shimin set off again. This time, his mount was replaced by a black-mouthed yellow horse with swirling fur.In the bloody battle, it hit six arrows in the front and three arrows in the back, carried its master on its back and killed it from the shadow of swords and swords, and solidified its own figure into the second relief under the west veranda—— This is an era that belongs to the horse.Their hoofs are clattering, their blood vessels are rushing, and they hold their heads high and neigh in the smoke and dust everywhere, who will fight for the front? The six steeds of Zhaoling and the thousands of war horses they represent have the spirit of a dragon and the murderous spirit of a tiger. The meaning of leaping dragons and leaping tigers contained in the myths of the Li family is transformed into the possession of the infinite country through the hooves of these horses. In this sense, the story of the Six Horses of Zhaoling continues to write the myth of Li Jiasheng's life as a dragon and a tiger. Therefore, the poet described this period of history as a myth that "the king of Qin rode a tiger to travel to the eight poles, and his sword illuminated the sky and the sky from the blue". (Who does Li He's "The King of Qin Drinking Wine" describe? There are "Li Shimin's theory", "Li Shi's theory" and "Qin Shihuang's theory" in the academic circles. Let's take "Li Shimin's theory" for now.) Only in this way can it be compared with the Li family mythology. The dragon and the tiger echo back and forth. The protagonist of the myth, Li Shimin, was named Tiance Admiral and set up his own officials, just like another small court. Li Jiancheng, who stayed in Chang'an, vaguely realized that his brother who had made great achievements in the world would be his biggest opponent.Due to the special status of the prince, Li Jiancheng could not roam the battlefield like his brother. This made him gradually marginalized in this era of galloping horses. Many heroes and Li Shimin met and smiled on the horse, and became life and death friends in the bloody fight side by side.In contrast, Li Jiancheng of Chang'an was alone. The counselor of the East Palace suggested that he must go to the battle in person, accept the heroes from all over the world, and do his part to conquer thousands of miles of land. At this time, it happened that Liu Heitai came back from defeat.Li Jiancheng immediately volunteered.Li Yuan knew the prince's concerns and agreed to let him lead the army.A month later, Li Jiancheng quelled the Liu Heita Rebellion.Unfortunately, his efforts came a little late. The dust has settled, and this chaotic era of horses is coming to an end.Compared with Li Shimin, Prince Li Jiancheng has nothing. He was thinking of using conspiracy to seize the power he didn't have, and Li Shimin was also thinking of using conspiracy to seize the crown prince who did not belong to him-a tragedy of brothers fighting against the wall was imminent. When Taibai Jinxing quietly appeared in Qin Fen, the moment of fate finally arrived.Li Shimin, who is famous for his courage, hesitated and couldn't make a final decision. While hesitating, he thought of the ancient tortoise divination.A counselor next to him snatched his tortoise shell and smashed it on the ground—the tortoise divination is used to resolve doubts. In the dangerous situation of life and death, if there is any problem, it needs to be solved by divination! If it is inauspicious to ask about divination, do you want Li Shimin and the people around him to be arrested without a fight and just sit and wait for death? The first light of the sun breaks through, and the dawn moon is about to disappear. Only the bright Taibaijin star, a prophet, is still shining in the sky.Hundreds of soldiers quickly and quietly gathered in the Qin Palace, and quietly marched towards the Xuanwu Gate.Under the Guanzhong-based policy of emphasizing internally and ignoring externally, the power of the world cannot compete with Chang'an.The center of gravity of the world is in Chang'an, the center of gravity of Chang'an is in the palace in the north of the city, and the center of gravity of the palace is in the north gate where the six armies gather. The extraordinary move to change the situation in the world can only be successful if it is launched in Chang'an.The success or failure of Chang'an is tied to the north gate of Taiji Palace - Xuanwu Gate. The world is really so big that Li Shimin can move up and down. But that little Xuanwu Gate will decide his fate. Half an hour later, Li Jiancheng walked slowly on his horse, stepped out of the shadow cast by the majestic Xuanwu Gate, and came towards the Linhu Palace.Li Yuan is boating on the Four Seas Pool. There was silence in the palace, and no one was seen after walking for a long time. The strange coldness made Li Jiancheng suddenly feel cold and intrusive. In the dim forest garden, he suddenly reined in his horse and looked around.A stone's throw away from the water is the Water Pavilion. It was midsummer, but the thirteen long carved windows were abnormally closed. While hesitating, there was a rush of hooves behind him.The hard horseshoes knocked on the ground, making a icy sound, which echoed between the palaces, like the knocking of fate. Li Jiancheng was startled, turned his head, and saw dozens of elite riders appearing behind him like ghosts. The soldier on the horse exudes a murderous aura all over his body. The leader immediately drew his bow and looked at him calmly, not shying away from his sharp eyes at all. Li Jiancheng was taken aback: It was Li Shimin. In astonishment, the long carved windows of the water pavilion burst open, and countless long arrows poured down like rain.In an instant, more than ten guards around Li Jiancheng had been shot down.Hearing the long arrow piercing into the flesh and making a deep puffing sound, Li Jiancheng's complexion was as pale as paper in an instant. However, this is also a person who has seen Iron Horse Jinge. In the dense rain of arrows, Li Jiancheng gave a low drink and turned his horse's head.Zi Liu jumped obliquely, passed through the crowd of blood and flesh, spread his hooves, and ran towards the depths of the dense palace. In the morning breeze, Li Shimin's heart does not grow, and the arrow has already been wound! The bow is opened, the string is sounded, and the arrow is released, and a star of cold light flashes away. The arrow that parachutist Li Guang shot at the tiger in the twilight forest penetrated the frozen air under the Xuanwu Gate and shot at Li Jiancheng's heart. The moment Li Jiancheng fell off the horse, I suddenly thought of Li Gan who was said to have been struck to death by antlers. They are all like a swaying yellow leaf, fluttering in the blood-stained air after the sound of the bowstring - such an association makes people feel sad.Li Guang's free and easy, Li Gan's bloody, are now replaced by utilitarian calculations. The blood-stained Xuanwu Gate is where the myth of the Li Tang family began to dissipate. I have seen a restoration map of Xuanwu Gate drawn by a modern person, with towering floors and flying eaves, which has a unique atmosphere and simplicity of Tang Dynasty architecture. But compared to the north gate of the Taiji Palace in my imagination, its strokes are not heavy enough and its lines are not fierce enough. In my impression, Xuanwu Gate is a black building, gloomy and ferocious, with a murderous aura emanating from every crack in the bricks and tiles.Layers of black scabs from coagulated blood made the building darker than the deepest night around it.Xuanwu, the spirit of the north, is the name of this gate. This strange creature with the body of a turtle and a snake seems to be hiding in the unfathomable night, with its huge mouth open, it swallows thousands of creatures silently. It is the combination of Xuanwumen's stylized horror images and specific historical events that produces this supernatural and superhuman intimidating power. There is only such a door, with enough volume, standing majestically on the long road that this family has traveled, separating myth and history at both ends of the door leaf. After taking off his blood-splattered iron clothes, Li Shimin knelt in front of Li Yuan, pressed his face against his father's chest, and wept bitterly. However, the father and son who hugged each other tightly did not feel the warmth from each other's body. The father had no choice but to concede to Li Shimin.People will soon forget this old man and let him live in the narrow Da'an Palace in the west of Chang'an City and grow old slowly. That year, Li Shimin was over twenty-six years old.He changed the reign title to "Zhenguan". Many years later, the old Li Shimin left a puzzling sentence: "The year of my death is only twenty-six." Only he can say such a thing.Only with such cleverness can he understand the true meaning of Xuanwumen to the family.Through the gloomy doorway, the family hid in the building complex in the north of Chang'an City. The myth of leaping dragons and leaping tigers is slowly but irretrievably dissipating.A closed and claustrophobic life, instead of an open one, awaits the descendants of the Li family at the other end of the Xuanwu Gate. The symbol of this kind of life is not a dragon or a tiger, but a cold, slippery life like a turtle and a snake, which makes people associate with conspiracy and trickery. Those who accused him of murdering his brothers and forcing his father to usurp the throne could not give Li Shimin an understanding, and neither could those who defended him. When this family deduced its own myth to the end, it brought another kind of myth to the world. In the fourth year of Zhenguan, Doumi was only three or four dollars, and there were twenty-nine prisoners who committed crimes to death. At this time, the world stretches from the sea in the east to the Wuling Mountains in the Antarctic, 9,510 miles from east to west, and 19,180 miles from north to south.Back then, Li Ling fought against the Xiongnu with 5,000 bloody infantry, but still could not escape the fate of surrender. It was also in this year that the three thousand Qingqimen of the Tang Dynasty sent out to Mayi at night, went deep into the captive court, and completely defeated the Turks who "controlled millions of strings".The pain of Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou Dynasty, the arrogance of Liu Wuzhou, and the nightmares of several dynasties became the past at that moment.Chang'an, who woke up from the nightmare, fell into an all-night carnival.Under the fire, trees and silver candles that illuminate the night, the Supreme Emperor Li Yuan bounced his pipa; Li Shimin also raised his sleeves to the sound of stringed drums, singing and dancing; the ministers are holding up the wine cups in their hands... In "Prairie Empire", René Grousse summed up the world's perception of Li Shimin in this sentence: "A shocked Asia saw a strange and epic China in him." The Li family who entered Chang'an brought a spring to the world.Standing on the tower of Xuanwu Gate, take a look at Chang'an and the world at this time - the gorgeous plum blossoms in the world are like flat peaches by the edge of the Yaochi, which bear fruit once every five hundred years, and they are gathered in the ruins of Yihou, filling the hearts of the people. Li Lizhen's mother and child's wet and hungry intestines; every five hundred years, the petals fell on the baby who was born after eighty-one years of gestation; after another two five hundred years, the plum blossoms bloomed all over the world in Li Shimin's eyes .Against the background of peach red willows and green, the plum blossoms are swaying and delicate.Under the cover of Li Hua, the scenery of the country is sunny and beautiful, and the people are bright and clean. This is the Zhenguan era when "the sun and the moon are more beautiful than the sky, and the rivers and rivers are more beautiful than the earth"! The dazzling light will exhaust Li Shimin's life energy. The emperor showed his old age prematurely. The country in the myth is destined to be entrusted to the next generation. Li Chengqian is the first generation of this family born in the court. He was born in Chengqian Palace, and his name was taken from this palace. However, this young man who was born and raised in Si fanatically yearns for the desert, the long river, and the life on horseback. The prince of the Tang Dynasty spoke Turkic, wore Turkic clothes, and combed his loose black hair into small braids according to the Turkic style. Even his attendants chose those who looked like Turkic.Li Chengqian took his bodyguards, and every five people formed a tribe, herding sheep on the grass in Chang'an Palace.Under his instigation, the fugitive slaves went to steal other people's livestock.Li Chengqian set up a copper stove and iron pot to cook the stolen cattle and sheep himself. These young people drink big bowls, eat big pieces of meat, and live like horse thieves. While the wine was hot, the prince announced loudly that after he succeeded to the throne, he must abandon Chang'an and lead tens of thousands of cavalry to the golden city in the sky to be a free Turkic. Chang'an would not like a prince who wanted to abandon him. This gave Li Chengqian's younger brother Li Tai the opportunity to covet. It is often seen that Li Tai, who has been potbellied at a young age, sits in a small palace, goes in and out of the Tai Chi Palace, and elegantly expounds his views to his father and his ministers.Gone are the days of iron horses and kings.Li Tai couldn't fully develop his wings in the battle like his father did back then. But he still cleverly found a way to expand his power.Under his auspices, the compilation of Kuo Di Zhi began. Using this topic, Li Tai openly made friends with dignitaries and scholar-bureaucrats, and meticulously weaved his network of relationships. "Kuo Di Zhi" inherits "Han Shu" "Geographic Records", and it is an important geography book.More importantly, it implicitly expresses Li Tai's great ambitions for thousands of miles of land. The progress of the traditional book repairing method is too slow.Li Tai parted ways in Jizhou, edited Shulu, and hurriedly presented the 550 volumes of "Kuo Di Zhi" to his father in just a few years. This exposed one of his fatal flaws: eager for quick success. Li Tai's aggressive demeanor stimulated Li Chengqian's fragile nerves. The prince deliberately imitated the Turkic people and wanted to live like his ancestors in the Wuchuan Town era.But he never really lived like those ancestors.Li Chengqian does not have the boldness of reckless heroes, nor does he have their perseverance and bravery. When his status was challenged, Li Chengqian was at a loss at first, and then depressed. When he woke up from his depression, he became violent and impulsive again, and he even thought of colluding with his politically frustrated uncle Li Yuanchang and some party members to plan a coup d'état in the palace. In the forest garden, Li Chengqian and his uncle Li Yuanchang often lead their own troops, wearing felt armor and holding bamboo spears and bamboo knives, fighting in formation. This kind of virtual war is essentially a cruel entertainment and cannot give Li Chengqian a real war experience. The prince who grew up in the court is still naive. In the seventeenth year of Zhenguan, King Qi launched a rebellion in the fief. When the news came, Li Chengqian frivolously said to the cronies around him that the west wall of the East Palace was only twenty steps away from the Imperial Palace. (Such superior rebellion conditions) how could King Qi compare? But these twenty steps, Li Chengqian couldn't cross them in his whole life.King Qi's rebellion implicated this confidant.During the torture, he confessed this sentence, together with the whole plan of the coup d'état.Five days later, Li Shimin issued an edict to depose the prince and put him under house arrest. At this time, an important official of the court advocated that the young prince Li Zhi (Tang Gaozong) be the crown prince. After hearing about this incident, Li Tai became anxious. He asked Li Zhi threateningly: You and Li Yuanchang have a good friendship, are you not involved in their conspiracy? At this time, Li Shimin suddenly realized: the so-called prince's rebellion was just a Xuanwumen incident that was not staged in time, and it was also a Xuanwumen incident without a winner-the shadow of Xuanwumen is that the beautiful sun of Zhenguan cannot shine The place. Li Chengqian was eventually exiled to the distant Qianzhou, while Li Tai was demoted to the equally distant Junzhou.Neither of them was able to return to Chang'an.Lost two sons overnight. With tears streaming down his face, his father cried out his distress to the ministers around him. When he was sad, he bumped his head against the imperial bed excitedly, and the ministers hugged him tightly in fright. The white-haired emperor drew out his saber and wanted to kill himself.Time wears on, and the old man looking for death and life in front of me is like an idol after the gold decoration and oil paint have fallen off. It reminds me of the couples with the common surname Li in the deserted village in Julu County... Just as Li Shimin said to the ministers around him: If Li Tai is made the prince, it means that the prince's position was obtained by conspiracy. On a sunny day, the elderly emperor visited Chengtianmen, the front gate of Taiji Palace, and announced to the world: Li Zhi, who has no conspiracy, will own this world full of Lihua in the near future. Li Shimin set a precedent for conspiracy to seize the throne. He didn't want the fate of the dynasty to be forever entangled with the gloomy Xuanwumen, but it was beyond his control. The Taibaijin star is shining over the Taiji Palace again. This time, it appeared in daylight. In the secret room of Ganlu Hall, Li Chunfeng told Li Shimin that Tai Shi Ling told Li Shimin that this astrological divination indicates that the heroine will be prosperous in thirty years. The Taibai Demon is hiding in an unknown corner of Yeting Palace.Within thirty years, she will kill all the descendants of the Li family and become the master of the world. At this time, Li Chunfeng saw that the emperor was half-believing, but his eyes were shining fiercely: What if I kill this evildoer? Tai Shiling suddenly realized that a palace killing was imminent. After thinking for a while, he carefully said: "What is ordered by heaven, there must be no reason to avoid it"——Thirty years later, when the legendary woman usurps the Tang Dynasty, in old age, perhaps still With some compassion, there is more or less room for killing the descendants of the Li family. If she is killed today, that wandering soul will also be reincarnated to carry out the irreversible will of the heavens.Thirty years after the reincarnation, she was full of vigor, and she was a young man who killed with a heart. The descendants of the Li family are afraid that no one will be spared. After hearing this, Li Shimin pondered for a while, and finally didn't say anything. For the first time, he treated major events in the world with an attitude of letting them go.Shengming's emperor is old, and he no longer has the courage to resist the arrangement of fate. According to legend, in front of Alexander's war horse, the sages of Tianzhu stomped their feet to imply him in this way: You can conquer the whole world, but what really belongs to you is just the square inch under your feet. However, the Indians did not tell Li Shimin, who was also a generation of great emperors, such sentiments. On the contrary, the self-proclaimed 200-year-old Indian monk Naluoer Sapomei brought foolish fantasies to Chang'an.He took out a plate of the elixir he had just refined from the Jin Biao Men's inner building.Li Shimin longed for "a grain of golden elixir will ensure longevity".But he probably forgot that in front of the Xuanwu Gate, the myth disappeared. In an era without miracles, pills cannot bring miracles. Li Shimin won the world at Xuanwumen, and then abandoned the world after taking the elixir.Between one gain and one loss, he left two spells of fate for his dynasty.Since then, the Xuanwu Gate and the medicine of immortality have haunted the emperors of the Tang Dynasty like maggots attached to the bones. It's just that Li Shimin has been buried at the foot of Jiuyi Mountain, ashes to ashes, dust to dust, and he doesn't know anything anymore. Li Zhi's first reign was Yonghui.Yonghui is the continuation of Zhenguan, just like the era of Zhenguan. It's also just a continuation of Zhenguan, and it won't last too long. The sick body imprisoned Li Zhi's soul, forcing him to waste time on the sickbed.Taiji Palace is located in the low-lying place under Longshouyuan.Li Zhi couldn't bear its tide, so he decreed to repair Yong'an Palace in the northeast of Chang'an City and change it to Daming Palace. The Daming Palace on Longshouyuan has a circumference of fifteen miles, and there are Jiacheng on the east, west and north sides.Outside the south gate is the wide Danfengmen Street.Starting from Danfeng Gate at the southern end and reaching Penglai Mountain in Taiye Pool in the north, there are magnificent Hanyuan Hall, Xuanzheng Hall and Zichen Hall on the central axis. The majestic Hanyuan Hall is located at the height of Longshouyuan, higher than the flat ground, as if in the clouds. It is eleven rooms wide and seventeen rooms deep, lined with two pavilions, Xiangluan and Qifeng. This is the so-called "left flying Luan and right resting phoenix, uplifting two ques and forming wings".Looking down from above, the avenue in front of the hall looks like a dragon's tail drooping, hence the name Longwei Road. The entire palace overlooks the bustling neighborhood in the south of the city with a condescending aura—from then on, most of the plots of the Tang Dynasty stories will be unfolded here. The rule of Zhenguan is over, and the rule of Lian Yonghui is about to end. A small car sent Li Shimin's talent Wu Zhao (Wu Zetian) from the deep palace to the desolate Ganye Temple. It was another little Qixiang chariot, quietly taking this pretty nun back to the palace. In the deep palace, she strangled her daughter to death, tortured and killed the Queen and Concubine Xiao Shu, and then the clan, ministers, and even her own son and sister... One by one, bloody conspiracies were strung together to form the blood-red crown on the new queen's phoenix crown. string of beads. However, Wu Zhao didn't like Chang'an.She always saw the ghosts of Queen Wang and Concubine Xiao Shu floating in the corridors and darkrooms of Yeting Palace. They threw their rotten fingers and toes head-on, like throwing tiles on the faint water...Wu Zhao, who had just woken up from a nightmare and was dripping with sweat, could always hear the black cat's shrill voice, which came from the depths of Yongxiang in the dark night. Come on, it looks like Concubine Xiao Shu who was tortured and killed by her is wailing. Before dying, this pungent woman vowed to be reincarnated as a cat to chase Wu Zhao's soul. Now, the sound of her ghost is moving deep in the palace. The terrified Wu Zhao and her husband Li Zhiluan drove east and left Chang'an far away. For more than 20 years, Li Zhi hesitated between Chang'an and Luoyang, and dragged his sick body to embark on the journey from Chang'an to Luoyang seven times. The disease became more and more serious, and Li Zhi also began to recruit warlocks, begging for panacea to prolong his life.In order to concentrate on alchemy, he ordered the prince to supervise the country, while he hid himself in the white jade smoke surrounded by the alchemy tripod.Hu Seng Lujia Ajiduo synthesized the elixir of life.Li Zhi and Wu Zhao first tried Yunyu before his father's sickbed. The scene of my father taking medicine before his death is still vivid in my mind. The cowardly Li Zhi rewarded Lu Jia Ajita with the title of General, but he didn't have the courage to accept the golden elixir he refined.Soon, the emperor, who had been ill for many years, collapsed in the Zhenguan Hall of Luoyang Palace. For the sake of power, Wu Zhao has killed one of his own daughters and two sons successively. The "Growing Melon Ballad" spread from the East Palace soon became popular in Luoyang City, and it sounds even more sad and moving:
It's a pity that those who listen to the song can't sing, and those who sing have never heard it. Under the yellow platform in "The Ballad of Planting Melons", Wu Zhao walks lonely with vines in his arms. After her husband passed away, she pushed her two remaining sons Li Xian (Tang Zhongzong) and Li Dan (Tang Ruizong) to the throne successively, and pulled them down successively.A crown was worn on Wu Zhao's cloud temples. The plum blossoms that once bloomed all over the world are now only blooming in the palaces of Chang'an and Luoyang, as well as in the palaces of the locked palaces. The flimsy descendants of the Li family no longer have any ability to stop a woman from striding forward to the highest throne.Like Li Hua in the late spring, the descendants of the Li family were almost wiped out in the bloody storm caused by Wu Zhao. Wu Zhao, who called the wind and rain, never returned to Chang'an of the Li family.Except for the first year of Chang'an, which was the year when the poets Li Bai and Wang Wei were born, Wu Zhao had returned to Chang'an for two years, and she had made Luoyang her home. She is growing old in her own home. The joy of sex with the beautiful boy, and the golden pink makeup, can't recall the lost youth. The queen believed in Buddhism all her life, but in the last few years, she pinned her hope of continuing her life on the golden tripod of Taoist priests. She had taken the elixir offered by Lianhua Liulang Zhang Changzong, and invited alchemy hermits from Baihe Mountain. It took three years to refine the elixir before it was finished. It is said that after taking the medicine, Wu Zhao looked radiant and thought he could live longer than Peng Zu.She specially changed the year name to "Jiu Shi", hoping to look down on the common people for a long time. Three years later, the empress with fluttering white hair died in the cold Shangyang Palace. Li Xian, who was exiled by the queen to Fangling, often sat alone in the court, recalling the details of his short emperor's career.Accompanying him are only his wife Webster and his newborn daughter.Sometimes, he looked up at the boundless sky and sighed silently in his heart, even the sigh was silent, lest it would reach the ears of Luoyang mother. When there was no one around, Li Xian picked up stones on the ground. Before throwing it into the air, he silently prayed in his heart: I can still be the emperor in the future, and this stone will not fall to the ground. The stone flew up to the top of the tree and was caught by the branches of the dead tree. Many years later, it's still there. After years of exile, Li Xian returned to Luoyang, which belonged to his mother.Someone picked up an ancient mirror while crossing the river and dedicated it to Li Xian.Li Shimin also took care of himself in the mirror that Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty looked at. When Li Xian looked in the mirror, the phantom in the mirror said to him faintly: I will be the emperor again. Ten days later, shortly before his mother passed away, Li Xian regained the throne with the support of his ministers. The trees in Chang'an Forbidden Garden did not bloom, nor did they bear fire-like fruits, nor did they turn into red nymphs. But Li Xian still went through the wind and snow and returned to Chang'an.During the many years when his mother was imprisoned in Fangzhou, Li Xian and Wei's mother and daughter depended on each other for life. This kind of experience made Li Xian very attached to his wife and daughter, and accommodated them everywhere.Returning to Chang'an was not because he had deep affection for the city where his father and ancestors lived, but simply because Chang'an was Webster's hometown, and it was also the place where the Webster family's power was intertwined. Webster hated Li Chongjun, the prince who was registered by Li Xian. That was not her biological child. The precedent of Wu Zetian proclaiming the emperor made her daughter Princess Anle covet the throne, and she always wanted her father to abolish the prince and make her the empress dowager. The arrogant princess didn't take Li Chongjun seriously at all, and sometimes even called him a slave. The battle for the throne quietly unfolded between the princess and the prince-this is a very paradoxical scene in the history of the Tang Dynasty.Xuanwumen quietly waited for another bloodbath at the palace gate. One late night in the early autumn of the third year of Shenlong, Li Chongjun, who has always been humble and humble, suddenly led the Yulin army to break into the palace, and at the same time divided his troops to guard the gates of the palace city.Unbelievably, he left out the Xuanwu Gate alone. Under the cover of the thick night, Emperor Li Xian took Empress Wei and Princess Anle and fled to the Xuanwu gate in a hurry to avoid the front of the soldiers.Li Chongjun then arrived and surrounded the gatehouse. For a time, the two sides formed a confrontation. After a while, Li Xian poked his head out of the sill of Xuanwu Tower tremblingly: You are all my guards, why are you plotting against me!If the head of the conspirator can be beheaded, wealth and honor will be in sight. After hearing the emperor's promise, the Yulin soldiers downstairs in the Xuanwu Gate became agitated.Seeing that the situation was not good, Li Chongjun took his way in the chaos and fled to Zhongnan Mountain in embarrassment. He never walked out of the dense forest that covered the sky and the sun.
