Chapter 73 The Outer Chapter "Outstanding Experts" and the Helplessness of History

The era of the Sixteen Kingdoms was an era of advocating force and an iron fist, and an era of heroes competing, but it was not always the case.So in our spare time, there is this extra chapter, let us see what else happened in this once-in-a-thousand-year chaotic world. I don't know whether the story comes from legends or historical facts. Everything I said comes from the so-called "orthodox history book" - "Book of Jin". The book "Book of Jin" is not a very good history book from the perspective of examining historical books and the basic requirements of historical books, although there have been worse ones before it, such as "Book of Wei", "Book of Wei" "Book of Qi" and so on, but after all, it is the fifth history book following the first four histories in terms of time. Compared with them, "Book of Jin" is indeed a bit poorly written. However, in terms of literariness, "Book of Jin" is quite worth reading. Many of its chapters have the shadow of the Six Dynasties novels.

Let me tell you a Buddhist story first. In the Later Zhao Dynasty, there was an eminent monk from Tianzhu named Fotucheng. When this person came to the Central Plains, he was quite old, and his purpose seemed to be to spread the scriptures and save people in the Central Plains, and to carry forward Buddhism. After the Western Jin Dynasty died, Shi Le and Shi Hu, the monarchs of the later Zhao dynasties, admired him very much and regarded him as a guest of honor. The reason for this is not that Shi's father and son really believed in Buddhist teachings, but because Fo Tucheng not only knew Buddhist scriptures, but also predicted good and bad fortune, and the outcome of wars.

Shi Le loved Shi Hu's son Shi Bin very much. One day Shi Bin died suddenly. Shi Le asked Fo Tucheng, "Is there a way for a mage to bring the dead back to life?" , Gradually recovered.Shi Le was so moved that he threw himself to the ground, and ordered his sons to worship Buddha Tucheng as their teacher and go to the temple to worship the Buddha. After Shi Le died, Shi Hu respected Fo Tucheng even more.In Shihu's last years, chaos gradually arose. There was no turtle in the Yellow River, but one day someone caught a turtle and offered it to Shihu. When Fotucheng saw it, he sighed, "It won't be long before Huanwen enters the river!"

After a while, Shihu had a strange dream when he was taking a nap: a group of sheep came from the northeast with fish on their backs.Shi Hu wakes up and doesn't understand what it means, so he visits Fo Tucheng.Fotucheng replied: "Yuyang, Xianye, and the one who bears it, is humble. This dream is ominous. Xianbei has a central plain!" The Qianyan established by the Xianbei people captured the Kanto, which also fulfilled his prophecy. Shihu killed several sons in a row for the sake of the East Palace, but he refused to listen to Fotucheng's persuasion.Fotucheng returned to the temple and said to his disciples: "Catastrophe is coming, and the Shi family will be destroyed. Before the chaos, I will sit down and go away." After that, he passed away in the temple in Yecheng and lived. One hundred and seventeen years old.Seeing that Fotucheng had no illness and died suddenly, Shihu felt suspicious and sad, so he had no choice but to bury the mage well.

A few days later, a monk who just came from Yongzhou told Shihu that he saw Fotucheng entering the pass and going back to the Western Regions.Shihu was shocked, and hurriedly asked his men to dig the grave and open the coffin to check. It doesn't matter what you see, there is nothing in the coffin except a stone.Shihu thought to himself: "Shi is me, the mage buried me, and I am going to die..." Soon, Shihu died of a serious illness, and chaos ensued in the north. Fotucheng is an expert, but he is still quite in the world. The "expert outside the world" mentioned in the title is Wang Jia, who is from Longxi.During the post-Zhao period under the rule of Shi Le Shihu, the world was relatively stable, but he led a group of disciples to hide in the mountains and live a life of a hermit. After Shihu's death, the world was in chaos, and the people fled one after another, but he left his disciples and came to Chang'an alone, but he didn't want to meet the former Qin leader Fu Jian in Chang'an, but built a hut on Zhongnan Mountain , to hide again.

The Sixteen Kingdoms era was an era when traditional culture was greatly impacted, and people's thinking was extremely chaotic. Even a current "British Lord" like Fu Jian might not know what kind of thinking to use to rule.As a result, Taoism, metaphysics and foreign Buddhism with mysticism were able to breed and spread. The more a person cannot control his own destiny, the more he wants to control his own destiny. But this Wang Jia has such an advantage. He seems to know everything about the past, present and future, and speaks everything. It has very distinctive characteristics of the times, and it is similar to the popular prophecy at that time.Wang Jia's reputation quickly spread around Chang'an, and good-for-nothings, princes and nobles all went to his hut to ask him various questions.

Fu Jian recruited Wang Jia to serve as an official in the court many times, but he never got what he wanted. Disappointed, he had no choice but to enshrine Wang Jia as a "sage". Consulting good and bad luck, it seems that every time it comes true. When Fu Jian was preparing for the Southern Expedition to the Eastern Jin Dynasty, he sent envoys to ask Wang Jia again.Wang Jia said four words: "King Kong fire is strong." He rode on the messenger's horse, straightened his clothes, and walked eastward slowly for hundreds of steps, then turned the horse's head, took off his clothes, and threw away his hat. and shoes, got off the horse and returned to his seat without saying a word. (I think Wang Jia's meaning is very clear, so there is no need to repeat it here. You can experience it yourself, and it is not difficult to come up with an explanation.)

The envoy came back to inform Fu Jian of the situation, but Fu Jian was obsessed with his obsession, so he asked the envoy to go back and ask another question: "How long will I be in power?" Wang Jia's concise answer was only two words: "Wei Young." It's not over, people think it's very auspicious, but they don't know that the next year is exactly the year of Guiwei, and Fu Jian was defeated in the battle of Feishui, which is called Weiyang (Weiyang). A few years later, when Yao Chang invaded Chang'an, the courteous treatment he gave to Wang Jia was almost the same as that of Fu Jian. The only difference was that Yao Chang forced Wang Jia to follow him and consult him in everything.

Yao Chang and Fu Deng, the former Emperor Gao of the Qin Dynasty, had been in a stalemate for several years, and it was difficult to distinguish who was superior, so he asked Wang Jia: "Can I kill Fu Deng and bring peace to the world?" Wang Jia replied, "It's a little bit." Yao Chang was furious: "Just say it, why not?" Wang Jia was immediately beheaded. Even though Wang Jia is "advanced" and able to foresee the future, he can't get rid of his own destiny. In such an era, it is impossible for him to survive. It suddenly occurred to me that each of us ordinary people, while full of hope and disappointment in life, always wants to grasp something, but can't grasp it.Compared with Wang Jia, I have to marvel at my luck—fortunately, I have the "confusion" that he doesn't have. "Prophetic and foresight", "everything is known", so what? Those so-called "heroes" and "superior people" will only exist in the history books created by the descendants who wrote history.Only one sentence is true, it is those "confused" mortal beings who write history.

Hehe, the so-called romance is just stuff created by those people consciously, but the reality is so "cruel", but it is gradually formed unconsciously. As for history itself, it is nothing but helplessness. Finally, by the way, I would like to mention the small ending of the story. Several years after Wang Jia’s death, Yao Chang passed away. His son Yao Xing finally captured and killed him in the battle with the former Qin Fu Deng. The true meaning of the so-called "slightly obtained".
