Zhang Yang (the author of "The Second Handshake") was imprisoned for two years and three months after the "Gang of Four" was crushed. On January 20, 1979, the "China Youth Daily" published a message on the top of the front page: "The manuscript "The Second Handshake" is a good book." The full text of the letter from Li Qian, a worker at the Yichang Resin Factory in Hubei, was published and the editor's note .On the same day, the Central People's Broadcasting Station reported the news on the "News and Newspaper Summary" program. In the next two years, "The Second Handshake" was reprinted several times, with a cumulative print run of 4.3 million copies.It is the second largest circulation of contemporary novels since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, second only to "Red Rock".There are four other minority texts.And it has been adapted into art forms such as movies, dramas, operas, Pingju, Pingtan, radio novels and comic strips.
