It is impossible for any diligent researcher to collect all the relevant information, and it is impossible to grasp the essence of events and characters accurately.There are some shortcomings in the book, which are completely understandable and forgiven.People like me who have a better understanding of that discussion, I am sorry that I have no time to do special research in this area, let alone write a monograph in this area, so I am very happy to read this book.Since I didn't know anything about the writing of this book in advance, and I didn't know the author, I couldn't help the author before the author finished the manuscript.Therefore, after seeing this book, I felt that I should provide some information to the author to help him.But because I was too busy, I didn't pick up the pen until now.However, there is still only one thing to write about, that is, the discussion on the standard of truth at the Central Working Conference in 1978, for the reference of researchers including Shen Baoxiang who are studying this issue.

On the issue of the standard of truth, Yang Xiguang, Wang Huide and I made three joint speeches at the Central Working Conference.Two joint speeches by three people, one joint speech by me and Yang Xiguang.Yang Xiguang and Wang Huide also made a joint speech.Of course, Yang Xiguang, Wang Huide and I also made individual speeches and interrupted many times. In my personal speeches, apart from three joint speeches, there were nine other ones that were directly involved in the discussion of the standard of truth.Judging from the content written in Shen Baoxiang's book, he seems to know very little about the situation of the Central Work Conference, almost completely ignorant of the situation of the Northwest Group, and I don't remember the speeches of other people at the meeting clearly, only myself I remember more clearly, so I have no choice but to provide readers with my own speech that I remember clearly.Of course, even my own speeches are quite a few, and it would take a lot of space to write them in detail, so I can’t give a detailed introduction here. The method I adopted was to make a list of my speeches on the standard of truth in chronological order. , Write only one or two sentences for the content of each speech, so that comrades can understand an outline:

(1) November 13.I made a joint speech with Yang Xiguang and Wang Huide.I will be the speaker.The main content is to demand a complete rehabilitation of the nature of the "Tiananmen Incident", and to describe the nature of the "Tiananmen Incident" as a great revolutionary event, and thus to promote the idea that our country must fully promote democracy.In our speech we quoted Lenin's statement that "Victorious socialism cannot maintain the victories it has won if it does not practice full democracy".We believe that this statement by Lenin is not only an important general principle of Marxism, but also fully in line with China's reality.We also said that there is a point of view that should be clarified within the party, that is, after our party becomes the ruling party, it should still stand among the people, lead the people, and strive for democracy.We said that according to the point of view of leading the masses to strive for democracy, it is necessary to make a clear statement on the "Tiananmen Incident".Fully promoting democracy should be our criterion for resolving the "Tiananmen Incident".

(2) November 26.I speak personally.The content of this speech has two aspects. One is to criticize Li Xin for not exposing Kang Sheng’s problems and to expose and criticize Li Xin’s indecent behavior in the editing work in response to Li Xin’s written speech at this work meeting; Comrades Wu Lengxi, Xiong Fu, Zhang Yaoci, Zhang Pinghua, etc. made mistakes in discussing the standard of truth. (3) The same day, that is, November 26.Yang Xiguang and I made a joint speech, and Yang Xiguang gave the lecture.In our speech, we named and criticized Comrade Wang Dongxing and Comrade Zhang Yaoci under Wang Dongxing's direct leadership for opposing the redress of the "Tiananmen Incident", adhering to the "two whatevers", and slandering the words and actions of the article on the Standard of Practice.Yang Xiguang listed a lot of facts in our speech.Jiang Yizhen's speech in the Northwest Group this morning was the first speech to criticize "Vice Chairman Wang" in the entire working meeting.Our speech echoes that of Jiang Yizhen.Jiang Yizhen's speech mainly listed Wang's wrong attitude on the issue of several cadres in the Ministry of Health.Yang Xiguang talked about Wang's wrong attitude and behavior in propaganda work.When we criticize Zhang Yaoci, we also criticize Wang Dongxing's assistant. He is not in charge of propaganda work, but speaks out loud on the issue of truth standards.Zhang is the deputy director of the General Office of the Central Committee, and he also participated in the Central Work Conference.Our speech also criticized Xiong Fu's written speech at this meeting.

(4) November 28.I personally spoke to expose Li Xin's wrong attitude when checking Kang Sheng's resume after Kang Sheng's death. (5) DECEMBER 1.In my personal speech, I criticized some people for using the "crime of vicious assault" that is not included in the law to suppress people with revolutionary consciousness.For example, a person who posted a big-character poster criticizing Wu De was sentenced to imprisonment for the crime of vicious attack. (6) December 2.I added to criticize Li Xin's problems in editing "Selected Works of Mao Zedong". (7) DECEMBER 4.Wang Huide made a speech, revealing that Li Xin and Wu Lengxi obstructed him from writing an article criticizing Zhang Chunqiao's fallacy of "comprehensive dictatorship".I then revealed a lot of relevant information to support Wang Huide's speech.

(8) The same day, that is, December 4th.I criticize the speeches of Li Xin, Wu Lengxi, Xiong Fu, and Hu Sheng reported in the briefing.This speech focuses on criticizing the article "Revisiting "On Practice"" published in "Red Flag". (9) DECEMBER 7.I took Mao Zedong's "supreme instruction" as an example of "Chen Boda's iron broom cannot be reached, and the dust of Wu Lengxi and his gang will not escape by itself" as an example. Want to follow the two "whatever". (10) DECEMBER 13.I criticized the Beijing Municipal Revolutionary Committee for preparing to order restrictions on posting big-character posters at that moment.

(11) DECEMBER 14.Wang Huide, Yang Xiguang and I made the third joint speech, with Wang Huide as the speaker, affirming Hua Guofeng's responsibility for the "two whatevers" and the standard of truth, and setting an example for everyone to conduct self-criticism in a realistic manner.Support the speeches made by Comrade Ye Jianying and Comrade Deng Xiaoping at the closing meeting, emphatically expressing happiness for their support for the discussion on the question of the standard of truth.In the speech, we expressed our dissatisfaction with Wang Dongxing's written speech.We agree with Song Shilun's speech in the Central South Group, especially what he said in his speech that "comrades such as Li Xin are highly valued, comrades such as Wu Lengxi, Hu Sheng, Xiong Fu, Zhang Yaoci dare to act so boldly, Comrade Wang Dongxing is the backer" at this point.We point out that Wang Dongxing is not only responsible for the leadership of the issue of "discussion on the standard of truth", but also has errors in his ideological line; Negative.In this joint speech, we also mentioned that Wang Dongxing obstructed the correct propaganda of revolutionary cadres in accordance with the standard of truth.We suggest that the central government urge Wang Dongxing to conduct further in-depth inspections.

In addition to the three joint speeches I participated in, Yang Xiguang and Wang Huide made a joint speech on December 9, criticizing Hu Sheng's speech in the Northeast group.
