I usually pay attention to the positions of these people, and I have a good impression of most of them.But some of them, like ordinary Chinese and ordinary Chinese Communist Party members at that time, I have a strong dislike for their performance during the "Cultural Revolution", such as Wu De.Although some people on the list were figures on the stage during the "Gang of Four" rule, the public anger was not great. For example, Chen Yonggui, I think he was so highly praised, he was dizzy, and he could only talk like Dazhai. Agriculture needs to learn from Dazhai, and politics also needs to learn from Dazhai, but I heard with my own ears that he was dissatisfied with criticizing the "theory of only productive forces". He is just a distorted model of agricultural labor.There are also a few members of the Politburo. I think they have neither the ability nor the opinion.

Li Chang is an old friend of mine. At that time, I had also been transferred to the National Science and Technology Commission as the deputy director. Fang Yi was the director of this committee.

The deans and vice-presidents of the two academies of sciences are appointed by the National People's Congress.Only one person per unit is invited to this central meeting.There are two people in the Chinese Academy of Sciences. There are a total of 219 people on this list.After studying this list, I have two impressions: one is that it is not small in scale and specifications; the other is that the composition of the conference participants is good. Speaking of the scale of the meeting, some of the central working conferences held in the history of our party were very large. The scale of the 7,000-person meeting in 1962 was very large. Compared with it, this central working conference is much smaller ; but some are relatively small.The scale this time should be said to be quite large, and the specifications are very high.In particular, the members of the Politburo have been notified, enough to reach the level of an enlarged meeting of the Politburo.Judging from the participants, most of them were old comrades who were persecuted during the "Cultural Revolution". There are, but they are no longer dominant.So I looked at the list and knew there was going to be some debate of a serious nature, but I still thought it was a conference that could make a difference.

On this list, it is marked whether they are members of the Central Committee elected by the Eleventh National Congress.I counted the members and alternate members of the 11th Central Committee on the list. There are 137 people in total, accounting for 63% of the notified attendance, or nearly 2/3.They accounted for 42% of the 333 members and alternate members of the 11th Central Committee.There are 82 people on the list who are not members of the 11th Central Committee, accounting for a little less than 37% of the 219 people notified to attend.The non-Eleventh Central Committee members and alternate members are old party members who hold major positions in the localities, the military, and the central government. Among the Central Committee members and alternate members elected by the Eighth National Congress in 1956, as far as I remember, there is Xi Zhongxun , Song Renqiong, Huang Huoqing, Hu Qiaomu, Han Guang, Hong Xuezhi, Jiang Nanxiang, Li Chang; there were also alternate members of the Central Committee for the by-election of the Second Session of the Eighth National Congress in 1958, such as Wang Renzhong.The eight Central Committee members and alternate Central Committee members who participated in this meeting accounted for 29.6% of all the attendees.These all show that this is a high-level meeting.

When looking at the list, I estimated that some people would be notified to attend the meeting, but could not attend due to illness.The number of attendees will be less than 219 people. Judging from the group list, there are only 211 people in total, and 216 people including the 5 standing committee members, 3 people less.Hua Guofeng said on the opening day that 12 people asked for leave, which was the situation before the meeting.I don't know exactly how many people actually came, who came and who didn't, I don't have the information at hand, and I haven't spent time researching it, so I don't know.
