Chapter 6 Create riots in Beiping and Tianjin to expand aggression

When the Japanese army's aggression in Northeast China was closely watched by the international community, the Kwantung Army caused riots in Beiping and Tianjin, diverting people's attention. On November 8, 1931, Kenji Doihara, head of the Fengtian Secret Service, bribed some Chinese to start a riot on the streets of Tianjin.Participating in the riot were more than 2,000 "plainclothes teams" trained and organized by the Japanese, led by Li Jichun and Zhang Bi.They rushed out from Haiguang Temple and other places, and attacked Tianjin Municipal Government, Hebei Provincial Government and police agencies in different ways. For a time, traffic in the city was cut off, shops were closed, and many innocent civilians died.Because the rebels did not wear military uniforms and did not have serial numbers, they were also called "plainclothes riots" by custom.

On the 9th, the Japanese army stationed in Tianjin took the opportunity to dispatch. The Japanese headquarters ordered to occupy the outer line of the Japanese concession, cut off the traffic with the urban areas under Chinese jurisdiction, and sealed up the Jingyuan where Puyi lived. In the chaos, Kenji Doihara realized his plan to secretly take Puyi out of Tianjin. On the 8th, the day of the riot, martial law was declared in the Japanese Concession and nearby Chinese jurisdictions. In the name of "protection", the armored vehicles of the Japanese army drove to the gate of Jingyuan where Puyi lived. That night, Puyi finally sneaked out of the house according to Doihara's careful arrangement, and arrived in Lushun secretly by boat and vehicle.

The atmosphere of panic continued until late at night on the 10th.Since the Chinese side had obtained information in advance and made precautions, the riot was hit head-on by the Tianjin Security Team composed of the Northeast Army. The security team killed more than 60 rioters, captured more than 300 people, and beheaded and shot more than 40 people. The plainclothes team fled back to the Japanese Concession after being defeated. This riot in Tianjin was the Japanese Kwantung Army's attempt to take Puyi out of Tianjin, who lived in the Japanese concession, so as to lay the groundwork for the establishment of a puppet regime in the Northeast in the future.

On November 26, the Japanese organized riots again, still out of Kenji Doihara's plot. The plainclothes team sneaked out of the Japanese Concession in advance and entered the urban area of Tianjin. That night, the lights in the Japanese Concession were extinguished, and the Japanese army bombarded the Tianjin Municipal Government, the police station, and the telephone station with cannons to cover the invasion of the plainclothes team. The second riot in Tianjin was the Japanese army looking for an excuse to continue to invade western Liaoning. The next day, the Japanese army ordered to march to Shanhaiguan, and the entire Kwantung Army rushed to western Liaoning.
