Chapter 27 Appendix Chronology of events in this volume

In 1067 (the fourth year of Zhiping), Song Yingzong Zhao Shu died, and Prince Zhao Xu succeeded to the throne as Shenzong. In 1068 (the first year of Xining), Wang Anshi was appointed as a Hanlin scholar and lecturer. In 1069 (the second year of Xining), with Wang Anshi as a political adviser, he began to implement reforms, known as "Xining Reform" in history.Established three divisions, the Department of Regulations, and the Law of the Bank and the Law of Young Crops. In 1070 (the third year of Xining), the Baojia Law and the Immunization Law were implemented.Sima Guang opposed the new law and was demoted, and Wang Anshi was appointed prime minister.

In 1071 (the fourth year of Xining), the imperial examination law was established.Su Shi was demoted. In 1072 (the fifth year of Xining), the Changshiyi Law, the Baoma Law, and the Fangtian Average Tax Law were introduced. In 1073 (the sixth year of Xining), the privy envoy Wen Yanbo opposed the new law and was demoted. In 1074 (the seventh year of Xining), Zheng Xia's exiled people tried to abolish the new law, Wang Anshi was demoted, and Lu Huiqing was appointed as a political adviser. In 1075 (the eighth year of Xining), Wang Anshi was restored to his original post. In 1076 (the ninth year of Xining), Wang Anshi resigned and the reform failed.

In 1077 (the tenth year of Xining), the Yellow River burst. In 1079 (the second year of Yuanfeng), Su Shi was imprisoned and demoted to Huangzhou. In 1084 (the seventh year of Yuanfeng), Sima Guang completed it. In 1085 (the eighth year of Yuanfeng), Shenzong died, and the prince succeeded to the throne as Zhezong.The empress dowager listened to the government behind the curtain, cited the old party, and dismissed the new law. In 1086 (the first year of Yuanyou), Sima Guang worshiped the prime minister and abolished the new law.Su Shi served as a Bachelor of Hanlin.Wang Anshi and Sima Guang died.

In 1093 (the eighth year of Yuanyou), the Empress Dowager died, and Zhezong was in charge. In 1094 (the first year of Shaosheng), Zhang Dun became prime minister and restored the new law. In 1100 (the third year of Yuanfu), Zhezong died, his younger brother Huizong succeeded to the throne, and Zhang Dun was demoted. In 1101 (the first year of the founding of Yasukuni), Su Shi died. In 1102 (the first year of Chongning), a stele of Yuanyou's party affiliation was established. In 1127 (the second year of Jingkang), the Northern Song Dynasty died and the Southern Song Dynasty began.
