simply became a monk 李叔同 488Words 2018-03-16
When you are seriously ill, you should put down all family affairs and your own body.Concentrate on chanting Buddha, wholeheartedly hope to be reborn in the West. Those who can do this, if their lifespan is over, decide to be reborn; if their lifespan is not over, they will be able to heal quickly even though they seek rebirth, and because their hearts are sincere, they can eliminate the evil karma of previous lives. If it is better to let go of everything and concentrate on reciting the Buddha, it is as if life is over, and you decide not to be reborn, because you only want to recover from illness and do not seek rebirth, and there is no way to be reborn; as in the handwriting written by Master Hongyi

Before the end of life, because he wholeheartedly hopes to recover from the disease, he will be anxious and fearful. Not only will he not be able to recover quickly, but it will increase the suffering of the disease. When the illness is not serious, you can also take medicine, but you must still be diligent in reciting Buddha's name, and don't think that taking medicine will cure your illness. When the disease is serious, it is not necessary to take medicine. In the past when he was lying in the sick stone room, someone who persuaded the doctor to take the medicine said a verse to thank him: "Amitabha, the supreme king of medicine, who refuses to seek this medicine is called insanity. It is a big mistake to say that Amitabha, Agatha medicine, refuses to take it. "Because I believe in the Pure Land Dharma door, and earnestly explain it to others, but now I am sick, why would I give up this and seek medicine? It is not a big mistake for madness!

If you are seriously ill and the pain is severe, don't panic. Therefore, illness and suffering are karmic obstacles in previous lives.Or it is also the suffering of turning to the three evil paths in the future, and it is lightly suffered in this life, so that it can be repaid quickly. All your own clothes and belongings are suitable for giving to others when you are seriously ill.If you make offerings to sutras and images according to the "Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Sutra of the Bodhisattva's Fundamental Vows: Tathagata Praises", then it will be perfect. If you are seriously ill and your spiritual consciousness is still clear, you should ask a good teacher to speak for him and try your best to comfort him.Take the good karma that the sick person has cultivated in this life, and praise them in detail one by one, so that the sick person will be happy and have no doubts. After knowing the end of life, he will inherit the good karma and decide to live.
