Now I ask you, did you say these words in Tangshan City on December 26, 1967?"  … Answer: "I don't remember saying that either, I don't remember." The court read the minutes (excerpts) of speeches made by Li Zhunji’s Chen Boda on the morning of December 26, 1967 when he met with delegations from counties and cities in the Tangshan area, regional reform groups, and the garrison meeting: It is very complicated. It may be a party that cooperates with the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. In fact, it may be that the Kuomintang is at work here, and the traitors are at work here. Your mine faction (quote note: "Mine faction" was a faction organized by the masses in Tangshan City at that time) should The one person who combined, he himself admitted, was originally a member of the Kuomintang County Party Committee. After the reading, the court played the recording of Chen Boda's speech at that time. After the broadcast, Chen Boda said: "After I got there, I listened to these speeches here and there, and I always trusted them after some reports." The grievances of more than 80,000 people (Chen Boda shed tears), I don’t know at all, I am completely unmoved, I have nothing to say, I have nothing to say to the organization, and I have nothing to myself. What to say, because I don't know...someone said me, I was such a name at the time, and my words were earth-shattering...I was also shocked when I heard it." Regarding this matter, I really don’t remember, I really forgot, forgetting, of course it’s a serious crime. It’s a big crime , I do not wish to mitigate my guilt."

Prosecutor Qu Wenda interrogated the defendant: "The party you talked about in the Eastern Hebei region in Tangshan is very complicated. It is a party that cooperates with the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. It is the Kuomintang and traitors that work here. Do you have any basis?" Answer: "I I have already said, these words, I have no basis at all, I was out of thin air, what I heard that night out of thin air..." Question: "You are categorizing the East Jidong Party, aren't you? The party in the East Jidong area is a revolutionary party, and it is called a counter-revolutionary party. Is this a problem?"

Answer: "I didn't say it was a counter-revolutionary party." Question: "Then you said that the Kuomintang and traitors are at work here. What kind of problem is this?" Answer: "It is possible that it works! It works because some organizations work, and some local organizations work." Question: "The Jidong Party has made such great contributions in the democratic revolution, socialist revolution and construction, and persisted in the War of Resistance Against Japan. Which party, where the Kuomintang and traitors are active, can do such a thing?" Answer: "You are right, very right."

The court also read the testimony (excerpt) of Yang Yuan, the first secretary of the Tangshan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, on September 29, 1980. He stated that after Chen Boda spoke in Tangshan on December 26, 1967, he was brutally persecuted and his relatives were implicated.After the reading, judge Li Minggui asked: "Defendant Chen Boda, did you hear that?" Chen replied: "I heard it." The presiding judge, Zeng Hanzhou, said: "The Jidong incident caused such serious consequences, and it was because of your speech that it played a role."

Defendant Chen Boda said: "There is no problem with this." The Jidong Great Injustice case not only caused more than 84,000 people to be framed and persecuted, but also caused the 238 martyrs who had been buried in the Jidong Martyrs Cemetery to be traced without exception!
