Biography of Chen Boda 叶永烈 2411Words 2018-03-16
Lu Dingyi’s family suffered greatly from the catastrophe: Lu Dingyi and Yan Weibing were imprisoned for 13 years each, Yan Weibing’s three younger sisters were imprisoned for 9, 6, and 8 years respectively, the eldest son was imprisoned for 6 years, and the 70-year-old mother-in-law was imprisoned He died in prison a year later, with a total sentence of 56 years! ※ ※ ※ Although Liu Shuyan cursed and said "the 'Cultural Revolution' is eating people" when she was angry, she also participated in the punishment under the historical conditions at that time. At that time, she was in charge of Fan Ruoyu's task force.Fan Ruoyu, a native of Wuzhai County, Shanxi Province, joined the Communist Party of China in 1933. In 1959, he served as the executive deputy editor-in-chief of "Red Flag" magazine and the vice president of the Senior Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Not long after the "Cultural Revolution" began, he was falsely accused of being a "secret agent", and a task force was set up to punish him.Fan Ruoyu and his relatives were framed.

The scope of Fan Ruoyu's injustice became wider and wider, and many innocent people were implicated.Jiang Qing, who was in charge of the central "special project" work, praised Liu Shuyan's "ability to handle cases" and asked her to take charge of a larger "special project"—the Lu Dingyi project. Lu Dingyi's position is much higher than that of Fan Ruoyu. He is an alternate member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, vice premier of the State Council, director of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, and minister of the Ministry of Culture. One of the Anti-Party Blocs.Jiang Qing asked Liu Shuyan to take charge of Lu Dingyi's project, but Liu Shuyan knew he couldn't do it.Chen Boda took over the project. In this way, Chen Boda was in charge of Lu Dingyi's project.

In order to understand the situation of Lu Dingyi's persecution, the author went to Beijing and interviewed Lu Dingyi's family.According to Yan Zhao, the sister of Lu Dingyi’s wife, Yan Weibing, told the author that Lu Dingyi’s family suffered greatly from the catastrophe: Lu Dingyi and Yan Weibing were imprisoned for 13 years each, and Yan Weibing’s three younger sisters were imprisoned for 9 years and 6 years respectively , 8 years, the eldest son was imprisoned for 6 years, and the 70-year-old mother-in-law died in prison after a year of imprisonment. The total sentence was 56 years! In addition, four psychiatrists who had treated Yan Weibing were also imprisoned and imprisoned. Two of them died in prison unjustly!

The main reason for Lu Dingyi's persecution was that he opposed Lin Biao's "immediate results" and "taking shortcuts" method of studying Mao Zedong's works, which he believed to be "simplistic, vulgar, and pragmatic."The fuse of Lu Dingyi's persecution was his wife Yan Wei Bingna's "502 Project". The so-called "502 Project" is the "Pseudonym Letter Project".It was from March 1960, under the aliases of "Monte Cristo", "Huang Mei", etc., wrote one letter after another, and sent them directly to Lin Biao and Ye Qun. Like miniature atomic bombs, they exploded in Lin's mansion, causing the Lin Biao and Ye Qun were restless.

According to Yan Zhao's recollection, as early as the Yan'an period, Yan Weibing could not get used to Ye Qun's arrogant and domineering style. After Lin Biao replaced Peng Dehuai, his arrogance became stronger and stronger. In early 1960, Yan Weibing went to Harbin Military Engineering College to visit his son Dede and met Lin Xiaoxia, the daughter of Lin Biao who was studying there.Lin Xiaoxia was born to Lin Biao's ex-wife Liu.Yan Weibing learned that Lin Xiaoxia couldn't even go home during the winter and summer vacations—Lin Biao and Ye Qun didn't allow her to go back, and treated her very badly.Out of righteous indignation, Yan Weibing sent a pseudonym letter, scolding Lin Biao and Ye Qun.

In the summer of 1963, the director of the Sixth Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security came to Yan Weibing's work unit, the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and retrieved Yan Weibing's files.Looking at the handwriting, it is concluded that "Monte Cristo" is Yan Weibing. Lin Biao learned that the pseudonym letter was written by Yan Weibing, so he was determined to kill Lu Dingyi—in fact, Lu Dingyi himself did not know that Yan Weibing wrote the pseudonym letter at the time. The opportunity finally came. In May 1966, at the enlarged meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee that passed the "May 16 Notice", Peng, Luo, Lu, and Yang were designated as "anti-Party groups." On May 18, Lin Biao fiercely attacked Lu Dingyi and his wife in his long speech at the meeting:

There are a group of bastards, they want to take risks, they wait for action, they want to kill us, we just want to suppress them! They are false revolutionaries, they are false Marxism, they are false Mao Zedong Thought, they are traitors, and Chairman Mao is still alive, so they betrayed, and they obeyed and violated. They are careerists, they play tricks, they want to kill people now, they use various methods to kill people, Lu Dingyi is one, and Lu Dingyi's wife is one.He said he didn't know about his wife! How can you not know? ... Lu Dingyi, who originally lived in Zengfutang in Zhongnanhai, was kicked out and temporarily lived in No. 1 An'er Hutong in Beijing.

Yan Weibing and her younger sister Yan Zhao were arrested at the same time on April 28, 1966.Lu Dingyi lost his freedom at the end of May. In December 1966, Chen Boda took over the project of Lu Dingyi. Framed and persecuted Lu Dingyi was one of the serious crimes committed by Chen Boda during the "Cultural Revolution".For this reason, on the morning of December 28, 1980, the First Tribunal of the Special Tribunal of the Supreme People's Court interrogated Chen Boda on this issue. The court Jiang Hua appeared in court for trial, and the presiding judge Zeng Hanzhou presided over the trial.

The following is the court trial record: The court presented and read the report of Chen Boda, Xie Fuzhi, and Wu Faxian approving the arrest of Lu Dingyi on May 23, 1968 (quote note: Lu Dingyi was illegally detained at the end of May 1966. arrest procedure). The word "agreed" on the report was identified as written by Chen Boda. After showing it, Chen Boda said: "This batch is completely my handwriting. There is no problem. It is completely my handwriting. To be honest, my memory is too bad. I really don't remember it, but the facts are there. " Question: "You really don't remember. After you read it now, is this true?"

Answer: "It is true." Question: "You also proposed that Lu Dingyi be handed over to the Red Guards for trial. Is there such a thing?" Answer: "There is this matter... because Jiang Qing forced Liu Shuyan to accept the case and invited her to dinner, but Liu Shuyan refused to do it. I think it's not easy to step down, so I took it over. I said I took care of it. Why did I accept it? What about this case? I have no grievances or enmity with Lu Dingyi. Why accept this case is because she wants to persecute my family. If I don’t do it, I don’t accept this case. She wants to persecute my family. Self-interest, thinking about this issue, persecuting my whole family, I was worried at the time..."

Next, the court questioned Chen Boda's three instructions on Lu Dingyi's case.Chen Boda first talked about the content of the three articles. The court presented, read and projected three reminders on the Lu Dingyi case written by Chen Boda himself on December 16, 1966. The original text is: "First, lower the standard of living (no more than 12 yuan), remove all sofas, soft beds, writing desks, etc. Second, ask him (and her) to write daily activities, first from October last year until he was arrested this year. 3. Consider handing over to the Red Guards for trial. (This matter is under internal control)” The court also read the testimony of Qian Guangwu from the former Lu Dingyi special case team, as well as the handwriting inspection certificate. After the reading, the judge Li Minggui asked: "You issued a written instruction to hand over Lu Dingyi, who is the vice premier, to the Red Guards for trial. This is a serious violation of the Constitution and undermines the legal system of the socialist system. Did you know it at the time?" Answer: "I didn't think of that at the time." Question: "Not only will he be physically persecuted, but his life will even be in danger. Do you know this?" Answer: "I didn't think about these problems, but at that time, I was going crazy, especially when people are going crazy, I might go crazy." In Chen Boda’s answer to the court, there was a sentence that vividly expressed his mentality at the time: “I was in the moment of madness!” Indeed, the “Cultural Revolution” was a movement of “crazyness”, and Chen Boda in those years was like a “crazy” movement. Jumping up and down like crazy, so that he became the public enemy of the people.
