The first series of my autobiography Section 8 My Little History of Self-study: The Fundamentals of Self-study 6. The foundation of self-study The above describes my father and one of my fathers, intending to describe my childhood family environment and the closest social environment.Regarding this environmental aspect, the above is only a brief description, not comprehensive. For example, my mother's kindness and understanding, sponsoring my father and Peng Gong's reform movement, advocating women's studies, and participating in the first women's school in Beijing as a teacher are not mentioned. However, it may not be difficult for readers to imagine it.From this environment, I planted the foundation of self-study: an upward heart. On the one hand, my father and Mr. Peng’s personality inspired me to have a sense of responsibility to the society and the country in my childish mind, and I despised the secular life of "self-sufficiency".On the other hand, in the atmosphere of the reform and progress, there is a kind of insight and proposition that goes beyond the secular world, which makes me realize that although the secular people do not have to be bad people, it is not enough if they lack vision; therefore, one must strive to be superior .The so-called uplifting attitude was probably the case at that time.

This kind of psychology may have its disadvantages; at least it inevitably reveals a kind of arrogance. From a positive point of view, there is a bit of integrity and a bit of firmness implicit in it. ——I dare not say much, but at least a little bit of each.I introspect my lifelong user and seem to be on this. Especially since I was thirteen or fourteen years old, because of this self-motivation, I often have the responsibility to teach myself, and no matter what happens, I seldom need supervision. And sometimes I feel that certain things are not in my opinion, even though others ask me to do it, I will not do it.When I was ten years old, I loved to read "Enlightenment Pictorial" and "Beijing Daily", and I was almost addicted to it. Although it is considered self-study, but really self-study must start from here (Xiangxin). The so-called self-study should be the upward self-improvement of a person's whole life, the key is to be conscious in life.Merely seeking knowledge is not enough for self-study.Self-improvement in the whole life includes seeking knowledge.Seeking knowledge develops our wisdom and insight, but it is not a purpose.Wisdom and insights are emitted, which is the effect of life and self-improvement, and is good learning. If one seeks knowledge so that one forgets to eat and sleep, one's body and mind become unsound, and even one's mind becomes dizzy the more one knows, one cannot learn good things. Some people say "Live to be old, learn to be old", this concept is the most correct. This "learning" is obviously self-study, and at the same time, this "learning" is obviously talking about doing everything and not just seeking some knowledge. The most important thing for self-study is to have self-consciousness in life.Reading is not the first thing; the first thing is to take care of your body and how to make good use of it. ——Use it to do various things, reading is one of them. It's a pity that I can only explain this truth today, and I didn't understand it at the time.So I didn't take enough care of my body at that time, for example: I loved to think in silence, but didn't pay attention to the body's activities; I didn't have a good allocation and adjustment of eating, sleeping, and working time; I couldn't help but have the bad habit of killing my body (masturbation).Fortunately, if you know a little about self-love from the upward mind, it doesn't mean you don't take care of it at all.Furthermore, because I have a bit of righteousness and strength, I use my ears, eyes and mind positively, and my obscene problems will naturally decrease.I used to have a weak and sick physique, but it gradually became stronger later, I seldom get sick, and my energy is always slightly better than others. Waste less; although I still feel ashamed of not taking enough care of my body, I seem to know a little more about it than ordinary people. 2. There is always a clear and upright air in the chest, making it seem like there is no room for diseases and evils to take advantage of. — On the contrary, if you get sick occasionally, if you think about it carefully, it is always caused by the loss of clarity and vigor and negligence in your life.

 Another example is that I was stupid since I was a child, and I was not as good as a person almost all of my elementary school years; although I became better since I was fourteen, I was not very smart. There is no foundation for teaching knowledge. But later, he turned out to be abusive to the forest of scholars. Fortunately, he did not fall into the mediocrity and stupidity, but was praised and loved by the society. For this reason, the essentials are nothing more than: 1. Because of the ambition, I know that I am eager to learn. Although I have never worked hard, I have never been lazy. 2. The environment is good and the opportunity is good, which always allows me to learn on my own initiative, and I have never passively read rote books, or rote books. In other words, regardless of the old education (old-fashioned study education) or the new education (school education from Europe and the United States), I suffer the least from the poison. In short, self-study is the foundation of self-study, and all my achievements today come from self-study.There are two sentences in the ancient book "The Doctrine of the Mean", "Even if you are stupid, you must be wise, even if you are soft, you must be strong", which happened to be borrowed to describe my personal self-study experience (the second sentence in the original text does not refer to the body, the first sentence has a deeper meaning, Therefore, it is only counted as borrowing).
