Chapter 3 Preface 2 (Li Ao)

Commentary on Chiang Kai-shek 李敖 3379Words 2018-03-16
On the early morning of April 6, 1975, I looked out of the high window in Chiang Kai-shek’s black prison and saw the prison leaders—the so-called “squad leaders”—wearing black veils on their arms. I wondered: “I don’t know Which foreign head of state died?" At that time, I had not been allowed to read newspapers for nearly five years, so I had no news, and my knowledge of what was happening outside was limited. When I hear some news by chance, I can only guess wildly without knowing the details. Two or three hours later, the cell door was opened for ten minutes of "breathing". I asked the squad leader surnamed Qin: "Why are you wearing black gauze?" Secretly delighted. After returning to the solitary room, he immediately sang the code song and told fellow sufferer Liu Chendan: "The old bastard is dead!"

I was born in 1935 and am sixty years old this year.Half of the sixty years were under the rule of Chiang Kai-shek, and this half of the years were the golden years of life.Unfortunately, I was stopped by Chiang Kai-shek, so I had no choice but to walk away, and it was difficult to travel on the road.On the eve of my 40th birthday, I was in my cell, lying on the floor infested with centipedes and termites, conceiving my novel——I thought that the main character in the novel, Kang Youwei, should be an allusion to myself; It should allude to Chiang Kai-shek.It was later published in Taipei and Beijing respectively. Among them, Li Shili's words to Kang Youwei are just a model of borrowing the past to satirize the present:

When people talked about the crimes of the Queen Mother and her group, they all made a mistake, that is, they only talked about what they did after they came to power, not what they couldn't do after they came to power but stopped others from doing it. ...I think the loss to China caused by their blocking the road is more worthy of study. That is to say, it is not necessary to look at it from the front, but to look at it from the negative side; instead of looking at what has been done, it is better to look at it from the hypothetical.Looking at it this way, people will be surprised to find that the fundamental problem is not how much they have done for China, but how much they have stopped others, blocked their way, and prevented others from doing.

Another crime committed by the Empress Dowager’s group is that, in addition to delaying the time for China’s modernization, they also dismantled the filth, making it necessary for others to spend a lot of blood, sweat, and time to clean up and remedy the situation when they were in power and after they were in power. , To copy, to ratify, to wash, to clean, to repay debts, to vindicate injustice, falsehood and wrongdoing. That is to say, the current and sequelae of their disaster to the country are very serious. To put it crudely, it is the "wiping their ass" that you have done for them. They acted as stumbling blocks first, and then made defecation everywhere. ...you just happened to be a witness to the situation...

This may be due to past karma, you are destined to have such a vicious enemy blocking you, she is authoritarian, she is vicious, she has high means, she has the support of a small group, her luck is as good as it is, she has a long life, and she... will cover you for a lifetime. ...You spent your whole youth fighting her, but you never succeeded. It was so easy, after so many years of suffering, she died, but your youth is gone, you are old... The Queen Mother of the West ruled China for forty-seven years, and Chiang Kai-shek, like her, also ruled for forty-seven years (the last twenty-six years in Taiwan). Empress Dowager.Chiang Kai-shek lived to be eighty-nine years old, longer than Emperor Qianlong, and is the longest-lived dictator in Chinese history. He is in the midst of the modern era of the old and the new, combining old-style gang practices and new-style technological rule. .Such a man deserves a decent monograph, and even a good biography of his bad life. The bad thing is that we don't see such a biography appearing during his lifetime or after his death. The reason is that the views on Chiang Kai-shek have been divided for a long time. If you don’t belong to Yang, you will belong to Mo. ", and took it for granted that historical materials were used to derogate it.Although Chiang Kai-shek is a full-fledged "thief of the country", it is against the law of truth-seeking and the law of evidence to deal with him by taking historical materials for granted. From the ugly slander and slander against him by the leftists 60 years ago, to the Taiwanese newspaper saying that he had issued a "shoot to kill" warrant on February 28th six days ago, all of them have taken it for granted. To scold Chiang Kai-shek like this is actually not to the point.

A year and a half ago, Zhang Xiaoci, the grandson of Chiang Kai-shek, came to my house personally, invited me to teach at Soochow University, and vaguely expressed that I was a victim and victim of the Chiang family's rule.I listened and told him that you are also a victim, you are also a victim, and even more serious than me-at least my mother is still alive, but your mother died for no reason.Although I suffered and was murdered, I can still say it with my handwriting; but you can't "fuck the father's gu", everything has to be "hidden for the loved ones".Zhang Xiaoci said frankly: He has always denied to reporters that he is a descendant of the Jiang family, until his elder brother Zhang Xiaoyan admitted first, then he had no choice but to admit it.This kind of suffering can't be said, isn't it the first to suffer and the most victimized?

Although I have suffered and been killed, I will "revenge on my own." The way to retaliate is to study my enemies and write the truth wave after wave.Over the past ten years, I have written six research books on special topics: "Research on Chiang Kai-shek", "Sequel to Research on Chiang Kai-shek", "Three Collections on Research on Chiang Kai-shek", "Four Collections on Research on Chiang Kai-shek", "Five Collections on Research on Chiang Kai-shek", and "Six Collections on Research on Chiang Kai-shek" , edited four books on special research, "Dismantling Chiang Kai-shek", "Liquidating Chiang Kai-shek", "Secrets of Chiang Kai-shek and Zhang Xueliang", and "The Guards Talk about Chiang Kai-shek", and planned and published dozens of books criticizing Chiang Kai-shek. People who have always studied Chiang Kai-shek and Chinese and foreign scholars' achievements on this topic are naturally no better than Li Ao's.However, the fly in the ointment is that despite being so brilliant in thematic research, I have never been able to write a good biography about his bad life, and I miss it with regret.

This regret was finally resolved by the initiative and cooperation of my friend Wang Rongzu. Wang Rongzu was five years younger than me, and he was two classes behind me in the history department of National Taiwan University. After graduating from National Taiwan University, I served as a reserve officer for a year and a half. I was in the same class as Rongzu's wife Lu Shanyi. They all later went to the United States. They were in the same class for four years, and they were just classmates. They did not expect to form a married couple outside the territory. Their love has lasted for thirty years, and they complemented each other even more academically.Rongzu received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington in Seattle. He is now a senior professor at Virginia State University (Burburg). University visiting professor. He is erudite in the field of literature and history and has a wide range of works, such as "The Biography of Historian Chen Yinke", "Theory of Shi Chuantong", "On Kang Zhanghe", "Research on Zhang Taiyan", "On the Reform Thoughts of the Late Qing Dynasty", "The Setback of Going to the World: Guo Songtao and Taoism" Xian Tongguang Era", "Search for Modern Nationalism: Zhang Binglin and Revolutionary China", "Walking in the Learning Forest" and other works are all evidence of his knowledge of Chinese and Western ancient and modern.Five years ago, I said in the "Preface to Wang Rongzu's "Research on Zhang Taiyan"": "Wang Rongzu, an old classmate of the history department of National Taiwan University, is the historian I admire the most. In my eyes, to become a historian, besides being good at history, one must also have a great A sense of justice. Looking around China, if you have both, Rongzu must be at the top.” Because of these lofty qualities of Rongzu, when he proposed to co-write a book with me, I readily followed.

Since I hope to publish it on the 20th anniversary of Chiang Kai-shek's death, and use the momentum of thunder to make a conclusion after the coffin is closed, the writing time is only one year.During the past year, Rong Zu put aside other research work in his spare time and went all out. I, who had made an appointment to help me, stepped aside, seemingly lazy, and there were one or two private reasons: one of the reasons One is that I want Rong Zu to let go and make the best use of his talents, push him to the front line, and squeeze out all his belongings in private research on Chiang Kai-shek. He wrote a draft of "THE GEMO UNMASKED: Chiang Kai-shek, 1887-1975" many years ago The plan and the conclusion of Chiang Kai-shek are well known; the second reason is that the text of this book was written by Rong Zu, and my main work is to accompany pictures and historical materials, but after one year, the text has nearly 500,000 words. The predetermined number of words has been fulfilled, and my work of distributing historical materials has been decided to be a separate volume of "Supplementary Notes, Citations, Main Bibliography and Index of Chiang Kai-shek's Commentary and Biography", which will be included at the end of the book in the future, in order to be complete. Therefore, it can be said that although Chiang Kai-shek has successfully "surrounded the bid" and completed the "drilling and surveying" in this book, it needs to be updated day by day in terms of matching historical materials, especially in the aspect of matching newly released historical materials.I once said to Rong Zu: "Our commentary and biography can completely achieve the state of drawing conclusions on every event. Even if new historical materials come out, they can only confirm the correctness of our conclusions, but cannot overturn our conclusions. "Rongzu and I can reach this level, which also shows the strength of the two of them.

For the completion of this book, Lu Shanyi has always been committed to it, and the success is endless; Zhang Jinlang and Liu Xianshu searched for the secret book, and they have benefited a lot; Lu Jiazhen is the only editor and proofreader, and he is dedicated to the details. Rong Zu and I are especially grateful to them. Finally, I would like to make a special statement. Based on Li Ao's hatred for Chiang Kai-shek, whether the argument is objective or suspicious, my answer is a passage in my "Preface to Research on Chiang Kai-shek": Although emotionally, I hate Chiang Kai-shek—I am Wu Zixu; but in terms of writing, I have the rigor of a historian, relying solely on evidence to "punish evil and flatter him after death, and shine the light of latent virtue"—— I'm Gaetano Salvemini.Salfimini was an Italian historian who was imprisoned for opposing the fascist regime of the great dictator Benito Mussolini, but he later wrote about Mussolini, but he was convincing with evidence oral.

It is precisely because I have such reasonable self-confidence that I dare to join forces with Rongzu to write such an academic work; it is precisely because of my deep hatred that I am willing to not let Chiang Kai-shek go in my old age and write such a book. A work of vengeance.I wrote that Li Shili said to Kang Youwei: Your misfortune is that you have been inseparable from this dead old woman all your life. You and her are like a coin, each with one side... You were forged together by destiny, that is to say, although you are opposite, you have prosperity and decline, but you belong to the same era, symbolize the same era, and constitute the same era, and now her side is gone, your side , represents only a generation, not a continuation; it is just an end, not a beginning. For me, the completion of this book, symbolically, is indeed a complete closure. ——I finally ended Chiang Kai-shek, and at the same time ended the most grievous and enmity page in my life. —He is dead, but my youth is gone, I am old.
