Lin Huiyin 张清平 995Words 2018-03-16
In Beijing, where the layout is rigorous, the streets are straight, and the main buildings are symmetrical, Beihai is located in the heart of the city, where the water is wide and the sky is open, and the scenery is picturesque. Walking across the Jinao Yuchong East Bridge across the North Sea and Zhonghai, the White Pagoda on Qionghua Island echoes the Tuancheng in the clear water and forest, ethereal and quiet, beautiful and fantasy like a fairyland. Tuancheng was the emperor's viewing platform in those days.Ascend to Tuancheng, you can have a panoramic view of the three seas of Zhonghai, Beihai and Nanhai. This landscape has been maintained for hundreds of years, but in the reconstruction and reconstruction of Beijing City, some people proposed that Tuancheng obstructed traffic and advocated its demolition.

In order to protect Tuancheng, Liang Sicheng started a new round of earnest persuasion. Since ancient times, there has been a tradition of building high platforms in Miyagi buildings in my country. For example, Hongtai in the Qin Dynasty, Shenming Terrace and Tongtian Terrace in the Han Dynasty, and Cao Cao’s Tongque Terrace in the Wei and Jin Dynasties, these famous ancient towers have all been annihilated in the long river of history. Tuancheng in Beihai is one of the few remaining platforms in the country, and its position in the history of architecture is self-evident. Liang Sicheng convinced Soviet experts and many people, but the leader in charge of urban construction still insisted that Tuancheng must be demolished.

Liang Sicheng, who has always been modest, humorous and gentlemanly, was irritated. He stood up and pointed at the other person's nose and said, "According to what you said, we should just tear down Tuancheng, fill up Sanhai, and build a straight road to pass through. Discuss what?" He walked away, anxious, and asked Zheng Zhenduo, director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, to meet Zhou Enlai, because Zheng Zhenduo agreed with him. After hearing this, Premier Zhou went to Tuancheng to investigate in person, and felt that it was a pity that Tuancheng was demolished.

The road to be built turned a corner here, and Tuancheng was protected. There are three city gates on the east and west sides of the south side of Tiananmen Square. In order to expand Tiananmen Square, it was decided to demolish these three city gates. Before the demolition, a mass meeting was held, and hundreds of rickshaw, tricycle workers, and car drivers complained about the disaster caused by the three doors. The mass meeting listed traffic accidents that happened in front of the three gates. Liang Sicheng wanted to protect the city gates, but was immediately pushed to the opposite side of the working people. As an architect, how can he not know that all buildings should be people-oriented, and they are all for people to live better.

But as an architectural historian, he knows that the reason why these ancient buildings are precious is that they vividly reflect the life style of a region and a nation, and their historical and cultural value far exceeds practical considerations. How can such a precious historical building be demolished? He sticks to his guns. He explained to the relevant people: Tiananmen is the main entrance of the Forbidden City, and naturally gave the fullest attention and emphasis to the architectural conception of the main entrance. The setting of the three gates makes Tiananmen more majestic and magnificent, and plays the role of setting off Tiananmen. The Tiananmen Square and Meridian Gate buildings give people a sense of spiritual majesty, holiness, and sublime, stronger than the three main halls in the Forbidden City.

Such architectural art undoubtedly shows the supreme ruling authority of the ancient emperors. The demolition of the three gates will make Tiananmen Square look big and useless, and destroy the unified closed pattern of the Forbidden City.A complete Forbidden City is a unified artistic whole, which should not be destroyed. The question was brought to the Beijing Municipal People's Congress.
