Chapter 29 Section 2 "The No. 1 Whole Man Through the Ages"

Qianlong attached great importance to the abdication. He regarded this act as the last major event in his life, the perfect finale of his sixty-year reign. Qianlong believed that this move marked that he became the greatest ruler in the history of all mankind and the first "whole person" in the history of mankind. As mentioned earlier, Emperor Qianlong was the most ambitious and conceited monarch in history. He always wanted to surpass history, create records, and write himself greatly in history. Therefore, the older he gets, the more he values his position on the historical rankings. He never tires of comparing himself with the emperors of all dynasties, proving again and again that he is indeed incomparably great. At the beginning, it was more than the territory, than the population, and later it was more than the political stability, and the military achievements. After these comparisons were incomparable, he began to compare the age, reign time, and number of children and grandchildren with the emperors of all dynasties. This work brought him great joy.

In the forty-fifth year of Qianlong (1780), Qianlong wrote "Gu Xi Shuo".The reason why the age of seventy is so important is that, on the one hand, this age is an important watershed for the Chinese; on the other hand, because Qianlong was the first of the six monarchs since the founding of the Qing Dynasty to live to the age of seventy. people. Before him, Nurhachi was sixty-eight years old, Huang Taiji was fifty-one years old, Shunzhi was twenty-four years old, Kangxi was sixty-nine years old, and Yongzheng was fifty-eight years old. Both Taizu and Shengzu were close to the ancient threshold, and only Qianlong successfully crossed it.In terms of achievements, he has already become the number one, and now in terms of age, he has become the number one again.

In "Gu Xi Shuo", Qianlong was compared with the six long-lived emperors in history. He was convinced that he had surpassed four of them, and the other two Yuan Shizu and Ming Taizu could barely stand shoulder to shoulder with him, because after all, they were the masters of entrepreneurship, and he was only the king of succession. It is his irreparable regret that he failed to create a dynasty with his own hands. However, the king of succession also has the benefits of being a king of succession, that is, good fortune and great luck, without having to weather the wind and rain, and escape from death, but to ascend to the throne of God safely and smoothly.Chinese people's yearning for the state of life includes three ultimate goals - more blessings, longer life, and more children and grandchildren. The first is that he is already impeccably at the forefront of history. In the second article, his ranking is getting higher and higher, and in the third article, he may create a historical record.

At the beginning of the forty-ninth year of Qianlong (1784), the emperor issued an unusual edict, naming his eldest grandson Miande as the son of Gushan Beizi. As mentioned above, Mian De was dismissed as a commoner a few years ago because of his private contacts with officials, but now he is suddenly honored. Is it because of some special meritorious service he has made?In fact, it is not, Mian De's Jinfeng is only because a baby is about to be born in his mansion.Although having grandchildren is not a big deal in the royal family of early marriages, the baby to be born in the Mian De Mansion is extraordinary. If a boy is born, he will be the first great-great-grandson of Emperor Qianlong. In other words, his birth marked that Qianlong would have five generations under one roof. This is a great joy in ancient times when the average life expectancy was not long.

On the eighth day of the third lunar month, riding a fast horse brought an exciting news to Jiangning, where the emperor was visiting.Huang Yuansun was born, and the wish of five generations under one roof came true. The ministers celebrated with their foreheads and hands, and the emperor held a banquet to entertain all the ministers. The emperor's delight can be imagined, and he immediately wrote a poem: Feizhang reported his happiness to Da Xingxuan, cheering the Chinese and foreign vassals. I once counted six emperors in ancient times, when will I embrace my grandson again... It turned out that at this moment, the first thing the emperor thought of was that he had a new record in the Guinness list of emperors: he became the first emperor with five generations under the same roof in all ages.Yuan Shizu and Ming Taizu couldn't compare with him on this point, and he has been confirmed as the number one in ancient and modern times in terms of blessing.

In the fifty years of Qianlong (1785), the emperor discovered another historical first: he became one of the longest-lived emperors among the above-mentioned six emperors who were over seventy years old.Because of this, he wrote a poem: "The six emperors who ascended to Shoufan in the 70s, and the only one in the 50s. Han Wu is not admired, and Song Zong's Gaoxiao is even more unethical." The general idea is that there are six emperors in their 70s, but I am the only person who has been in power for fifty years, and I am very proud. The fifty-fifth year of Qianlong (1790) and the sixty years of Qianlong (1795), the 60th birthday and the reign of Zhou Jia, Emperor Qianlong came to a comprehensive comparison of age, descendants and reign, and the result proved himself The first position in history is unshakable. In his poem written in the fifty-fifth year of Qianlong's reign, he said:

In the eighties, the spring and autumn are eternal, and the five generations live under the same roof. In ancient times, the six emperors ascended to the eighth three times, and the Song and Liang Dynasties were admired by Yuan. However, Zhiyuan was called a generation of heroes, and Qianlong was inferior to the fifth generation of grandchildren. The meaning of this poem is also simple. There are six emperors who are over seventy years old, and only three have lived to be eighty years old. Martial arts are great, but they are not as powerful as my Qianlong. In October of the fifty-seventh year of Qianlong (1792), because of Gurkha's appeal for peace, Qianlong personally wrote "Shiquan Wugong Ji", which pieced together the ten wars since he came to the throne into Shiquan martial arts, including two battles to pacify Junggar, Put down the chaos of size and Zhuo, the two battles of Jinchuan, the suppression of the Lin Shuangwen Uprising in Taiwan, the battle of Burma, the battle of Annan and the two battles against Gurkha.

In fact, the whole piece is very reluctantly put together.Of the ten wars, three were divided into two, that is, one war was divided into two.Four out of ten times were failures, and the victory over Jinchuan was particularly disgraceful. Because of this imprecise Shiquan martial arts, Qianlong called himself "Shiquan old man".And selected Hetian jade, engraved with the treasure of "Shiquan old man".A state of complacency cannot be concealed. And the imperial book "Bao Shuo".He comprehensively reviewed his life's achievements, and said, "Shiquan is based on martial arts, and Shiquan's old man's treasure is nothing more than this. In other words, martial arts is just a matter for the emperor."

Today, the successful holding of this succession ceremony is obviously more significant.Because this is a move greater than that of Yao and Shun. Before holding the succession ceremony, Emperor Qianlong finally proudly expressed his innermost thoughts: After Qin Shihuang, abdication was all in vain.During the Three Dynasties, although there was a grand event in which Yao, Shun and Yu abdicated, the givers and receivers were all of different surnames, which can be called "outer Zen" at best.Only the Zen ceremony held by him is an unprecedented "inner Zen", which "is not only unprecedented in the following three generations, but it is as good as it is to look at Yao and Shun."This is exactly his iconic action beyond three generations. He has become the greatest, most glorious, and most blessed emperor in the history of China, no, in the history of the world.
