Chen Yinke and Tang Yuan are a couple who married each other and grow old together, a couple who love each other and share weal and woe. They played harmoniously, and fell in love with each other sincerely, interpreting a traditional literati marriage story. Tang Yuan, also known as Xiaoying. Born in 1898, from Guanyang, Guangxi, and also from a famous family. His grandfather, Tang Jingsong, was a Jinshi in the fourth year of Tongzhi. He successively served as a scholar of the Imperial Academy, head of the Ministry of Officials, etc., and later served as the governor of Taiwan. He is a patriotic soldier with the rewards of "rank" and "appreciation of flower feathers".Tang Yuan graduated from Jinling Girls' School majoring in physical education, and later taught at Beijing Women's High School, where she was Xu Guangping's teacher. Her whole life silently melted into the aura of her husband.

Chen and Tang married very late, in Shanghai in 1928, when Chen Yinke was thirty-eight, and Tang Yuan was thirty-eight. In 1926, Chen Yinke was employed by the Academy of Chinese Studies of Tsinghua University, where he and Zhao Yuanren were colleagues.Chen Yinke "willing to have a family but not to be a family".At that time, Zhao Yuan lived in No. 1 and No. 2 of Tsinghua South Campus, so he gave half of No. 2 to Chen Yinke, and Chen Fan also joined Zhao's house.Zhao Yuanren's wife, Yang Buwei, is a well-known warm-hearted person, and she speaks quickly.Seeing that Chen Yinke was almost forty years old, he said to him: "Yinke, it's not a problem if you go on like this." Chen Yinke replied: "Are you happy now? If you have a family, you will have more troubles." "I can't let my wife take care of two families!" So Zhao Yuanren and his wife conspired with Hao Gengsheng, a physical education teacher at Tsinghua School, to introduce Hao Gengsheng's girlfriend Gao Yangqiao's righteous sister Tang Yuan to Chen Yinke.

Chen Yinke and Tang Yuan fell in love at first sight, and they cherished this predestined marriage. After marriage, Tang Yuan presided over housework, took care of her husband and children, and helped her husband with trivial matters such as manuscripts.Life at home depends entirely on Chen Yinke's salary. For quite a long time, they have insisted on supporting the widow of their old father, Mr. Sanyuan, and Yinke's eldest brother, Chen Hengke. The last three daughters came to the world one after another, adding to the fun of life for the family.Tang Yuan takes on the task of educating children. In the first seven or eight years, my life was stable. However, Tang Yuan suffered from a heart attack when he was growing up and almost died of heart disease, and he was tortured by heart disease all his life.

In 1937, the Japanese invaded on a large scale, and there were no eggs left under the overthrow of the nest.To avoid the Japanese invaders, the whole family and refugees fled in haste. They dragged their three children, the oldest was nine years old, and the youngest was only four months old, from Beiping, Tianjin, Changsha, Wuzhou, and finally to Hong Kong.During that time, when boarding the train at Jinan Station, the family climbed in through the window of the train, and their distress was unspeakable.During the years in Hong Kong, Chen Yinke also insisted on teaching at Southwest Associated University in Yunnan.Tang Yuan had a heart attack in Hong Kong, and was rescued thanks to Xu Dishan's help. However, due to financial difficulties, the family had no fixed place to live and moved six times within four years.

At the critical juncture of his life, Tang Yuan fully supported Chen Yinke, especially when he mentioned that he stayed in Guangzhou at the end of 1948 and refused to go to Taiwan. Tang Yuan was not only her husband's virtuous domestic helper, but also became her husband's "virtuous foreign helper" in his later years. In 1951, Cheng Xi, Chen Yinke's assistant, left without saying goodbye. Chen Yinke was unable to go to class. Tang Yuan picked up the textbooks and acted as her husband's assistant on the podium. She didn't give up until Huang Xuan arrived a year later.

The "Statement", "Protest Letter", and self-criticism materials written by Chen Yinke in the last 20 years of his life were all written by Tang Yuan, who was willing to shelter her husband from the wind and rain. Tang Yuan was very angry at the insult to his personality during the "Cultural Revolution".The school's commitment to ration Chen Yinke's three and a half nurses as nurses and cleaners were all cancelled, and the heavy responsibility fell on Tang Yuan alone. Finally, they applied to retain an old worker to help Chen Yinke sit on the chair, go to the toilet and do chores. Because the wages of Chen Yinke and Tang Yuan were suspended, and a small amount of savings were also frozen, so they could no longer pay the wages of the workers, so that Chen Yinke and Tang Yuan successively Therefore, the furniture in the house was carried away to pay off the debt.Especially the "Application Letter" written for survival: "Because of heart disease, I need to take fluids. I beg for permission to get four bottles of milk a day to maintain my life. I am very grateful." It makes people unbearable to read.

Chen Yinke often said to his daughters: "Mother is the backbone. Without her, there would be no family, and without her, there would be no us, so we all must protect mother." Once Tang Yuan had a heart attack, Chen Yinke wrote an elegiac couplet for his beloved wife in advance when all thoughts were lost: weeping for Niuyi, 卌 (pronounced "xi", meaning "forty") has become a heartbroken history; Hidden, Jiuquan waits for those with dry eyes. Tang Yuan seems to have come to this world just for Chen Yinke.Forty-five days after Chen Yinke passed away, she followed suit.
