Chen Yinke has always respected Hu Shi. When he elected the president of Academia Sinica in Chongqing, Chen Yinke publicly said that "I came to Chongqing all the way, just to vote for Mr. Hu". Another characteristic of Chen Yinke is that he never criticizes others. When his disciple Jiang Liangfu was studying at Tsinghua Research Institute, he once wrote an article criticizing Rong Geng and sent it to the "Journal of Yenching", and Rong Geng sent it to Chen Yinke for reading.Afterwards, Chen Yinke said to Jiang: "You spend so much energy criticizing others, why don't you focus this energy on establishing your own research work!"

After the death of Mr. Cai Yuanpei, there was another turmoil over the selection of the president of the Academia Sinica.Chen Yinke also went to Chongqing to support Hu Shi.One day, Chiang Kai-shek came to a collective banquet of the councilors. This was Chen Yinke's first meeting with Chiang, because it was rumored a few days ago that Chiang Kai-shek personally wrote a note to appoint the dean, and Chen Yinke was dissatisfied with Chiang. After the banquet, Chen Yinke wrote a poem "Chongqing Spring Evening Banquet Returning to Youzuo": "I hate that I have never traveled to Shu in my life, and I went to Yuzhou for no reason. The heroes of the thousand-year-old base are exhausted, and the Yangtze River flows day and night for thousands of miles. If you eat clams, you know the world. Seeing Huachou approaching the tallest building. The lights in the capital are on spring and cold nights, and a dream is blurred and graying."

Chen Yinke once copied a copy of this poem and gave it to Wu Mi, a professor at Southwest Associated University, for comment. Wu Mi included it in the manuscript of "Sequel to Wu Mi's Poems". Sister-in-law’s house. Now Jiang Gong invited the Academia Sinica to meet Mr. Zhu. Yinke met Jiang Gong for the first time in the seat, and felt that he was not capable enough, and he was responsible for his duties. Therefore, there is the sixth line of this poem.” According to Jin Yuelin's recollection in his later years: "Mr. Yinke is not only knowledgeable, but also a person who upholds justice and fights bravely. At that time, Tsinghua University had a research institute to study ancient Chinese history. The main people in the institute were Wang Guowei, Liang Qichao, and Chen Yinke. A young man, Li Jizhi. He was still in Taiwan a while ago. I don’t know if he is dead now. It seems that the principal Cao Yunxiang at that time had incorrect views or ideas about Liang Qichao, or the method to be implemented soon. Chen Yinke knew At a professor meeting, Mr. Chen expressed that he stood by Liang Qichao and opposed Cao Yunxiang. He asked Cao Yunxiang to resign face to face. Cao also resigned soon. It seems that the method of appointing the president of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has changed soon.”

Before liberation, Zhu Jiahua sent people to bring Chen Yinke's family from Hong Kong to Guangdong, and then transferred them to Chongqing, where they lived in the home of his sister-in-law Yu Dawei. On the eve of the founding of New China, domestic prices soared, and Chen Yinke's family was so poor that they had no money to buy coal for heating. After Ji Xianlin knew about it, he told Hu Shi about it.Hu Shi immediately decided to donate a considerable amount of US dollars.Chen Yinke didn't want to receive rewards for nothing, and was forced to burn "coal", so he decided to use his own collection of books to "easily" acquire them.Hu Shi ordered Ji Xianlin to undertake it, and Ji Xianlin used Hu Shi's car to drag a car collection of books from Chen Yinke's house, most of which were Western, Buddhist, and Central Asian ancient languages.Chen Yinke only charged two thousand dollars at that time.According to the market price, the value of his "St. Petersburg Vatican Dictionary" exceeds this amount.

This matter was also recorded by Jiang Tianshu in "Mr. Chen Yinke's Chronicles": "Mr. lives in poverty and cannot light a fire. Rebuke the Tibetan scriptures in Pali and other books in oriental languages, such as Mongolian Mongolian Maps, Turkic Chinese dictionaries, etc., sold to the Department of Oriental Languages of Peking University, (this teacher told me in the past) to buy coal. It is said that there is only one room for a stove." In 1953, Chen Yinke’s student, Wang Yan, came to Guangzhou with a letter written by Guo Moruo, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Li Siguang, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and persuaded Chen Yinke to “go north” to take up the post of Director of the Second Institute of History of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Academy of Sciences.Wang Yan studied the history of the Sui and Tang Dynasties under Chen Yinke, and spent more than two years with Chen Yinke day and night, eating and lodging at Chen's house.Chen Yinke's knowledge and character had a particularly profound influence on Wang. But Wang Yitou lived in the teacher's house.Wang Ben wanted to talk about the friendship between teachers and students, and then talk about "business".Unexpectedly, the two talked about "collapse" from the very beginning, and Wang went to live in the guest house in a fit of anger. It is rumored that Wang used the "tone of a party member" and "the tone of education and enlightenment" to talk to the teacher, which aroused Chen Yinke's disgust. The next day, Chen Yinke wrote the "Reply to the Academy of Sciences" (written by Tang Yuan), in which he said: "I am by no means opposed to the current regime. I read the original text of "Das Kapital" in Switzerland in the third year of Xuantong. But I He thinks that Marxist-Leninist views cannot be kept first, and then academic research is done. The people I want to hire and the apprentices I want to lead must have free thinking and independent spirit..." He put forward two conditions: 1. Allow the research institute not to follow Marxism-Leninism , does not study politics; especially emphasizes "not only I want to be like this, but I want everyone to be like this".2. Ask Mao Gong or Liu Gong to give a certificate of permission as a shield.According to legend, Xian Yuqing and Huang Xuan were present at the time, and they all advised Chen Yinke not to mention it like this, but Chen insisted: "I don't have to tell lies to the Communist Party."

In 1955, Du Guoxiang, director of the Guangdong Department of Culture, expressed to Mr. Chen Yinke that the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference proposed to invite Mr. Chen to be a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.Mr. Chen said: "I can't see with my eyes, but I can hear clearly with my ears. What those members of the CPPCC said are all praises. They don't tell the truth. They don't mean anything. I was so angry that I turned off the radio Drop! In addition, I am not in good health, suffer from high blood pressure, and am afraid of the cold, so I am not used to the cold in Beijing. Please tell Mr. Zhou that I will not be a member of the CPPCC." So Du had no choice but to move out Zhou Enlai to persuade Mr. Chen.Mr. Chen sent a letter to Premier Zhou, hoping to get help, because the tomb of his father Chen Sanli by the West Lake in Hangzhou was forced to be moved due to road expansion.Premier Zhou understood the moral principles of the older generation, put himself in Mr. Chen's shoes, and asked the office to inform Hangzhou not to move Chen Sanli's tomb.Later, Hangzhou made some changes to the route to meet Mr. Chen's request. So Du Guoxiang sincerely said to Mr. Chen: "It is Mr. Zhou Enlai who invited Mr. Chen to be a member of the CPPCC National Committee." Go to the meeting. Of course, if you are willing to go to the meeting, you will definitely take care of Mr. Chen." At this point, Mr. Chen agreed.

In 1956, Chen Yi was accompanied by Tao Zhu, the governor of Guangdong Province, to visit Chen's house and talk about literature. After Chen Yi left, Chen Yinke was very emotional: "I didn't expect such a learned person in the Communist Party." He also asked Chen Yi's poems to read. In 1958, Chen Yinke was pushed to the forefront of politics. As soon as Chen Boda's report "Emphasize the Present and Depreciate the Past, Learning by Doing" was published, Sun Yat-sen University's big-character posters went straight to Chen Yinke and other well-known professors in the history department, calling his academics "pseudoscience" and "punching the old stubborn and kicking the fake authority" .Chen did not attend the criticism meeting due to illness, and Tang Yuan copied the main points of the big-character posters, crying about the unbearable criticism scene. In order to express his "anger of life", Chen Yinke shouted "I can't bear the humiliation"!Then the president of Shushan University said: first, no classes will be held, and second, go through the retirement procedures immediately and move out of the school. He wanted to regain his dignity as a human being.Although he did not move out of the school after that, he really stopped attending classes.Later, when the school persuaded him to bring in graduate students, Chen Yinke said in a huffy voice: "Only when Chairman Mao and Premier Zhou promise not to criticize me will I start classes." He wants to fight for "academic freedom."Jin Yingxi, who was the vanguard of criticizing Chen Yinke, was originally his student. After the campaign, Jin repented and pleaded guilty.Chen Yinke only said lightly: "You go, lest I mislead my son!"

In 1959, Zhou Yang, then vice minister of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, visited, "wanting to see Chen Yinke's collection of books".Chen Yinke didn't want to see him at first, but after repeated persuasion by Chen Xujing, the president of Sun Yat-sen University, he did. Kang Sheng once visited Chen Yinke. "As soon as the principal's office contacted Chen's house by phone, he found out that Chen Yinke was ill and was resting in bed. The office staff tried to persuade Chen's family to mobilize Chen Yinke to receive him, but failed."
