Liu Shipei is thin and unattractive, but his wife is very beautiful.Liu Shipei's wife, He Zhen, formerly known as He Ban, was a beautiful woman who could write poems and paint pictures. Her father, He Chenglin, was once a teacher in Wujin County. The He and Liu families were family friends, and He Ban's eldest brother married Liu Shipei's uncle's daughter, so the marriage between Liu Shipei and He Ban was a first-in-law relationship. He Ban has a beautiful appearance and strict family education. He Ban was a very well-bred lady when she was in her boudoir. In 1903, before the "Su Reporting Case", Liu Shipei married He Ban when he was visiting relatives in his hometown. After marriage, Liu Shipei returned to Shanghai with his wife. After He Ban arrived in Shanghai, he entered the patriotic women's society founded by Cai Yuanpei and others. At this time, He Ban changed from an old-fashioned lady to an extreme feminist, calling himself "the madman of the feminist movement".In order to show equality between men and women, she first changed her name to Zhen, and her surname was also changed from her parents' surnames, and her signature was He (Yin) Zhen.

He Zhen is an extreme feminist. She advocates women's liberation, declaring: "Men are the great enemy of women!" Because of the existing problems of "male and female class" and social revolution, "the heart is hurt by witnessing, so she founded the Women's Restoration Association, Discuss the purpose of this, in order to implement its purpose." On June 10, 1907, He Zhen and others founded "Tianyibao" in Japan as the official newspaper of the Women's Restoration Association. In the long article "Women's Revenge", He Zhen expounded comprehensively and in detail the various restrictions and oppressions of traditional Chinese culture represented by Confucianism on women. In the article, he advocates all equality between men and women, and believes that all men in the world are women's enemies. Women want revenge, not only to "remove the men who oppress women in the world", but also to "remove the women who are willing to be oppressed in the world". Those who are "husbands with multiple wives" must "be together and punish them".

Influenced by the trend of anarchism, Liu Shipei and He Zhen founded the "Bastard Seminar" and "Heng Bao" to publicize the "Bastard Theory" and advocate anarchism. He Zhen also wrote "The Issue of Women's Emancipation", arguing that occupational equality between men and women in Western society, women and men having the same voting rights and suffrage are not "true equality", and that "fundamental reforms" must be implemented before women can be truly liberated. It is to take the path of equality for all, the abolition of private property and government. "That's why it is said that women can be liberated if they are independent of their occupations. It is not like saying that communism is practiced, and women can be liberated." And "instead of fighting for power against men, it is better to overthrow the rule of man." "With the heart of the movement, the government is easily destroyed the heart of the government".

During this period, He Zhen mixed women's liberation with anarchism, Marxism and other theories, and wrote a series of articles: "Women's Announcement", "Women's Revenge", "On Women Should Know Communism", " Women's Revolution and Economic Revolution", "On Women's Questions" Notes", "On the Tragedy of Chinese Women", etc. After He Zhen became a feminist, he naturally sought women's liberation in his married life.In their married life, He Zhen held the banner of "equality between men and women", and often "roared" at Liu Shipei, often reprimanded and punished Liu Shipei, and even slapped him.Because he is afraid of his wife like a tiger, Liu Shipei is dubbed "the king who is afraid of the inside".

Zhang Ji once recalled Liu Shipei's internal fear: One night, Liu Shipei rushed into Zhang Ji's house in a panic. When he was panting, there was a sudden knock on the door outside.Liu Shipei's face was pale, and he said tremblingly, "My wife must be here, what should I do? I must hide!" After speaking, he rushed into the bedroom like lightning, and quickly got under the bed. After Zhang Ji opened the door, he found that it was a friend of his, so he went into the bedroom and asked Liu Shipei to come out.But Liu Shipei thought Zhang Ji was lying to him, so he refused to get out from under the bed no matter what.In the end, Zhang Ji had no choice but to lie down and drag him out from under the bed.

He Zhen once learned painting from Su Manshu. After arriving in Japan, Su Manshu lived in Liu's family, and He Zhen asked Liu Shipei to treat Su Youli well.Knowing that Su Manshu's mother was struggling, He Zhen immediately ordered Liu Shipei to provide money to support Su Manshu. However, Liu's mother was in charge of the Liu family's money. . It is said that He Zhen also put a "green hat" on Liu Shipei. He Zhen's "lover" is her cousin Wang Gongquan. In 1097, when Zhang Taiyan lived with Liu Shipei and his wife, he once mentioned this matter to Liu Shipei. Not only did Liu Shipei not believe it, but he also believed that Zhang had provoked the relationship between the two of them and had turned against Zhang.

Regarding the relationship between Wang and He, Wang Dong, who was also in Tokyo at the time, recalled: Liu devoted himself to writing all day long and suffered from lung disease, while He Zhen had a good name and lustful desires. On the one hand, she used Liu Neng to write articles and run publications for her, but on the other hand, she was not satisfied with Liu Neng and behaved dissolutely.Wang Gongquan took advantage of this seduction and had a relationship with He.Zhou Zuoren also said: Because Su Manshu lives in Liu's house, there have been rumors, including Gong Weisheng, Qian Xuantong, and Liu Shuya.Zhang Ming commented on this matter: "The high-profile abolition of the family was originally just He Zhen's affair with his lover for the sake of justice. He blatantly went in and out with his lover under Liu Shipei's nose. It is said that Liu Shipei has no temper at all. Liu Shipei later The reason for the defection was actually a bridge set up by He Zhen's lover." Cai Yuanpei also said: "There is a villain taking advantage of the time to move He Zhen and hijack the king for the sake of justice."

Zhu Weizheng said: "In fairness, Liu Shipei and He Zhen are named husband and wife, and their love is like a lion and sheep. According to the existing materials, it is false for He Zhen to claim 'equality between men and women' with Liu Shipei after marriage. It is true to deal with Liu Shipei in the way of roaring." He Zhen also influenced Liu Shipei's political career. Liu Shipei later rebelled against the revolution, took refuge in Duanfang, betrayed Zhang Taiyan and others, and was also influenced by He Zhen. After Liu Shipei joined Duanfang, He Zhen also gradually calmed down and stopped writing articles to promote women's liberation. In 1910, He Zhen gave birth to a daughter, but unfortunately died a few months later. In 1911, Liu Shipei entered Sichuan with Duanfang. After the Revolution of 1911, Duanfang was killed and Liu Shipei was arrested. He Zhen, who was in Wuhan at that time, traveled thousands of miles to Sichuan to find his husband. After Liu Shipei was released on bail, the two went to work as tutors at the home of their friend Nan Guixin.

In 1919, Liu Shipei, who was only 36 years old, died of illness. He Zhen became mentally disturbed due to the stimulation. Later, he shaved his hair and became a nun.It is also said that He Zhen also died of madness after Liu Shipei's death.
