In 1958, Liu Wendian died in Kunming.According to his will, his family donated all the cultural relics in his collection to the Anhui Museum. According to the wish of his wife Zhang Qiuhua, Liu Wendian was not cremated immediately after his death, but was buried in a coffin on Yuantong Mountain behind Yunnan University.A year later, the bones were taken out by his son Liu Pingzhang, cremated and sent back to his ancestral home Anqing for burial. At first, he was briefly buried in Guyue Nunnery, and later he was formally buried in Gaojiashan, the head shop of Huaining County (now Anqing City).
