I have a long-standing ideological foundation. I joined the League in my early years, followed Sun Yat-sen, and firmly supported Sun Yat-sen's policy of uniting Russia and the Communist Party and supporting workers and peasants. Embracing the roots of communism has fulfilled my long-cherished wish today."

Liu Wendian liked to smoke opium, and praised "Yuntu" as the top grade of opium. Because he liked Yunnan ham, he won the titles of "Jishi Eryun" and "Mr. Eryun".After liberation, Liu Wendian gave up opium completely. He said to everyone: "In the old society ruled by reaction, I was desperate and forced me to smoke opium. If there are not enough good days, who would commit suicide by taking drugs!"
