Xiong Shili said: The failure of knowledge is the pursuit of vanity rather than self-cultivation; Xiong Shili joined the revolution in 1901 and had many contacts with Song Jiaoren, Huang Xing, Hu Ying and others. Some party members once thought that Wuhan was not suitable for revolution. He retorted: "Wuchang is located in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, the hub of the north and the south, and the security of the world. Great things can be achieved in a few years." This statement was later verified. On April 10, 1949, when Xu Fuguan was about to go south, he received an urgent long letter from his teacher Xiong Shili. The teacher tried his best to dissuade him from going to Taiwan in the letter. In this long letter, Xiong Shili explained to his lover the reasons why he could not go to Taiwan, and analyzed the various reasons why he could not go to Taiwan. There is no fighting spirit, the aid from the Americans is absolutely unreliable, and the small Kuomintang court still does not think about making progress... As a teacher, Xiong Shili tried his best to list all the reasons why Taiwan cannot be kept, and persuaded the students not to Take the wrong road that his old man thinks is no return.

On May 7, 1949, when Tang Zhizhong and his brother Jun Yi went to see Mr. Xiong Shili in Guanhailou, Huangshi, Longxiang, Panyuhua, Xiong wrote an inscription to Tang Zhizhong: "Although there is a root of wisdom, I can learn from it, but my wisdom is not great. Also. Although there are special exercises, I can use them to learn, and the exercises are not far from the out-of-the-ordinary." In the spring of 1950, Xiong Shili received an invitation from an old friend in the party and went north as promised. As soon as he arrived in Beijing, Qi Yanming, secretary-general of the Government Affairs Council, made a special trip to greet him at the station.Such a specification makes the old scholar very excited. He talked with others about his observations along the way, and he said "Lin Biao's intentions are not righteous, and he is afraid that he will die well." When he said this, he was startled, and he quickly advised him not to talk nonsense.

In the early days of the founding of the Communist Party of China, a United Front Worker asked Yu Xiong Shili. Xiong said: "The problem is to learn from the Soviet Union, treat the Soviet Union like a father, treat Stalin like a father, and avoid the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation for thousands of years. , Really forgetting the ancestors!" He insisted on refusing to "reform" himself, and wrote to Mao Zedong several times, requesting the establishment of a philosophy institute and allowing the old learning to spread. Xiong Shili: "Chinese scholars have a common bad habit. When it comes to academics, they don't choose what they want to learn at all. Therefore, in terms of what they learn, no one is willing to accept the neglect and loneliness of the world, be full of self-sufficiency, disregard the world and the earth, and work hard. The spirit of doing is in the interest of life, so it is, and if you want to make a breakthrough in your studies, it is even more difficult than what Mencius said, such as seeking fish from trees and relying on Mount Tai to surpass the North Sea. Scholars in our country always like to follow the trend. The habit of chasing odors will gather together and follow their own way, like a man chasing odors on the sea, without any reason. There has never been a moment when the atmosphere has changed, but those chasing odors have remained the same. There are two major diseases in this habit of chasing odors. People have no solid and permanent karma, and they can’t go deep when they encounter things, and they only develop floating. Second, everyone tends to the one path that is cherished in the world, and the rest of the road is thousands of miles away, all discarded, and no one cares about it. These two major diseases , are all fatal diseases of Chinese scholars..."

Xiong Shili lamented in his infinitely lonely twilight years: he was seventy years old, and he was old alone, with a small building facing a wall, and suddenly meeting ten sacrifices.A young man with absolutely no ambition to learn, looking back... Even so, the most original founder of modern Chinese New Confucianism still hopes for the future: what our people urgently need today is independent thinking, academic independence, and spiritual independence. …Wandering around the world will open up new life for world culture.
