Xiong Shili suffered from neurasthenia. Although his condition improved later, when the weather was sweltering and he thought too much, his brain felt like acupuncture. At this time, his mood is chaotic and he is prone to curse. Yin Haiguang asked Jin Yuelin what he thought of Xiong Shili, and Jin Yuelin said: "As far as I know, Xiong Shili is the person who studies Buddhism most deeply in China." Yin said: "Mr. is easy to hit people. I saw him punch Liang Shuming three times in the back. He also called him an idiot." Jin Yuelin said, "Huh! Humans are always emotional animals. As human beings, it is inevitable to beat and scold them." It turned out that Liang Shuming had an argument with Xiong Shili because of academic matters. After the fight, Xiong Shili took advantage of Liang Shuming's turn around, followed up and punched Liang three times, and verbally called him a "stupid".Liang Shuming understood Xiong Shili's personality, so he walked away without paying attention.

Xiong Shili often quarreled with other scholars. He quarreled with Ma Yifu, Meng Wentong, and Liang Shuming.Fei Ming (Feng Wenbing, a writer) admired Xiong Shili very much, and often talked with Xiong about the similarities and differences of Confucianism and Taoism. After he started reading Buddhist books, he often disagreed with Xiong.Whenever the two met, they would always be tongue-in-cheek. Whenever they argued about academic issues, they would often disagree, and they would blush at the beginning.Once, the two quarreled endlessly again. Fei Ming said, "I represent Buddha, and if you oppose me, you are opposing Buddha."Xiong Shili said, I am the Buddha, and you are the one who opposes the Buddha! After arguing and fighting, there was no sound in the end. It turned out that the two sides twisted into a ball, fought each other, and finally broke up unhappy. However, when they got together again in a day or two, they talked and laughed happily again, and the reconciliation was as good as before.

Zhou Zuoren recorded this incident in "Huai Feiming": "You Yujun and Xiong Weng (referring to Xiong Shili) lived together in Erdaoqiao. Still, the two of them were already wrestling together, and then saw Fei Ming come out in a hurry, but the next day, he saw Fei Ming come again, discussing other issues with Xiong Weng." Regarding the fight between Xiong Shili and Fei Ming, several versions have been deduced: one is from Tang Yijie's "Real Man Fei Ming": "Every time they debate, the voice becomes louder and louder, and the people in the front yard can hear it. Sometimes they even moved their hands and feet. This day, both of them were wearing unlined underwear, and they argued loudly again, and the voices became louder and louder, but suddenly everything was quiet, and there was no sound at all. The people in the front yard felt strange and went to the back yard to watch. At first glance, it turns out that Xiong and Feng grabbed each other's necks, and they couldn't make a sound." Some said that the two were wrestling together under the table, and some said that Xiong Shili was "sitting on the toilet" during the fight.Others said that Xiong Shili couldn't beat Fei Ming, and was kicked out of the house, "running away and cursing".

Li Yao first went to meet his teacher Xiong Shili and had dinner at Xiong's house.Li ate nine glutinous rice balls in one go, and there was one left in the bowl. Afraid of being impolite, he reluctantly ate half of it, and couldn't take it anymore. When he was in a difficult situation, Xiong Shili slammed his palm on the table and shouted angrily: "You can't even digest this, and you can still talk about learning and making achievements?" , the belly is as wide as it is, and the last half of the glutinous rice balls can be easily eaten. Once Xiong Shili saw Qian Mu's "The Years of the Pre-Qin Philosophers" at someone's house, and he was so angry that he couldn't help but strike a fork on the book.

In the 1930s and 1940s, the students of Peking University were very arrogant. The school hired teachers, and the students had to participate and give their opinions. It is commonplace for students not to come to class and pick the professor's thorns casually. But Xiong Shili didn't like this, he just opened his mouth to reprimand, and even beat him when he was in a hurry.Strange to say, the arrogant Peking University students really didn't dare to throw the bear out. Once Chen Mingshu went to Hangzhou to visit Xiong Shili. At that time, the "1.2.8" Japanese invasion was about to break out, and the wind and rain were dark.As soon as the two met, Xiong beat Chen Mingshu face to face, and scolded Chen for not preparing to resist in Shanghai, but actually ran to Hangzhou for a tour of the mountains and rivers.

According to Li Yuanting’s recollection, in 1945, when he went to his teacher’s room, “I saw that Wang Chuanshan’s words were quoted in the manuscript he was writing. context, and explain my understanding, he will be angry!" Xiong Shili scolded Yuan Ting as a "bastard".Li Yuanting had no choice but to leave the teacher's study and return to his home, but Xiong Shili chased him in again.Li Yuanting walked a few steps and stopped, turned around and faced Xiong Shili, Xiong Shili continued to scold him: "Bastard! Could it be that I was wrong?" Li Yuanting said: "I just ask you to take a closer look at the paragraph you quoted You will understand the context of what you said, and what you said is not in line with the original intention!" Before Li finished speaking, Xiong Shili raised his fist and punched Li Yuanting on the left shoulder, but Li did not evade, saying, "That's what you said when you hit me."

Xiong Shili left angrily, and Li Yuanting's three children were frightened and cried loudly. But early the next morning, Xiong Shili came to Li's house again, smiled and said to his disciple: "Yuanting, you are right, I was wrong! I took out the book at night and read the context carefully. It was you who said it." That means. Haha, I have wronged you!" He stroked the heads of the three children and said, "Grandpa Xiong scared you!" After speaking, he turned around and left with a smile. Xiong Shili and Chen Mingshu are good friends who met when they were studying Buddhism in Nanjing.Later, Chen Mingshu served as the chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Government. At that time, Xiong Zheng was poor and sick.Chen asked Xiong to go to Guangzhou, but Xiong refused to go; Chen gave money, but Xiong refused to accept it.Chen really wanted to give it away, but Xiong said, "My monthly living expenses are 30 yuan, and Chen sent 30 yuan a month to show support, and Xiong accepted it."Once Chen's accountant forgot to send money, Xiong immediately wrote a letter with more than 100 "bastards" written on it.After reading the letter, Chen immediately sent over the money.

Xiong Shili also had a feud with Feng Youlan, another great Confucian scholar.Once, Feng brought his "History of Chinese Philosophy" to visit. The two had many arguments. Feng wanted to combine Chinese and Western philosophy, while Xiong thought that Western philosophy was superficial, such as idealism and materialism. If you don't talk speculatively, you will inevitably blush and have a thick neck. Xiong Shili never cared who he was, whether it was a general or a senior official, he would teach him a lesson if he wanted to, without saving any face.Xu Fuguan was a major general in the past, and he was in Chiang Kai-shek's attendant room, so popular. In 1943, Xu Fuguan met Xiong Shili for the first time and asked him what books he should read.Xiong taught him to read Wang Fuzhi's "Du Tong Jian Lun".Xu said that he had read the book in his early years.Xiong Shili said unhappily, you didn't understand it, you should read it again. Not long after, Xu saw Xiong Shili again and said that he had finished reading it.Xiong asked what he thought?Xu said one after another that he was not satisfied with it.Before Xiong Shili finished listening, he scolded: "How can you read a book! The content of any book has its good points and bad points. Why don't you see its good points first, and then read it?" Specially pick out the bad ones? Reading in this way is like reading hundreds of books. What benefits will you get from the book? Reading is to see its good points first, and then criticize its bad points. This is like eating, after digestion For example, "Du Tong Jian Lun", how meaningful a certain paragraph should be; another example is a certain paragraph, how deep is the understanding; do you remember? Do you understand? If you read like this, you are really worthless!" Xu Fuguan As he recalled later, it was a curse that brought him back to life.

Mou Zongsan once told his disciples about his teacher Xiong Shili, saying: "It is not easy to serve a teacher. You must be sincere and not too reserved. Back then, I served Mr. Xiong... At that time, no one could serve him. Only I...he has such a big temper, many students are afraid of him, and Mr. Tang (Jun Yi) dare not get close to him...Actually, I am not smart, and I don't know how to please..."
